it's strange, you never see christian make a play. he may have but i don't remember any of them. i remember a lot of his mistakes and being a tad late a bunch of times. i guess they like him in the lber sub role which parker won't do for the rams. but man that parker can defend some passes. i'd like to see him do it against starters but all we have is what we've seen so far.

.

I'm 100% with you on this, I remember Wade using Christian a lot when Barron was hurt and I didn't think much of him. He looks for the big hit and just bounces of the guy. Would prefer Parker myself but I trust the coaching staff.

Isn't Lawler injured ? IR him and keep Darious Williams. Williams will be our safety valve should we lose both Peters & Talib in the 2020 off-season.
More I think about this the more I think it makes sense. So with Lawler out due to injury they might stick with 5/4 for OLB/ILB and keep an extra CB. It would be nice to hold onto him, you just can't have enough cover types.

Or they throw Bones a bone and use that extra roster spot for Scott. Lot of different ways that last defensive spot can go.

Lots of skepticism about the OL, especially C, with Neary going down with a broken ankle. One guy that gets mentioned the least, C Vitas Hrynkiewicz, has only gotten snaps late in pre season games at C, but as Bonifay has pointed out, this last games vs the Broncos , he got snaps at G.

I've watched Vitas from the first day of TC til now and I'm confused as to why he has not seen more playing time. Too raw? Trouble picking up line calls? Things is, he doesn't get beat and holds his ground. Much more physical than Neary. Will he get more playing time earlier in the game vs the Texans? Hope so, I like what I've seen from this guy so far.
UDFA OC Vitas Hrynkiewicz for the first two preseason gms saw late 4th quarter action @ OC but Kromer did something different last Saturday in gm #3. When Neary went down he sent VH out to play RG with 11 minutes remaining in the gm. I am happy to report that VH made zero mistakes made all his blocks & was able to reach some second level blocks. His passing & run blocking was excellent. But again he was going up against the Broncos reserve front seven. But at least you can factually state Vitas performance @ RG was better than Kolone, Demby & Evans. I would imagine that Kromer will play VH a ton in this last preseason game!(y):)

Jamil Demby was crowned the 6th OL'er by the Rams. He was to be the replacement for Austin Blythe. JD has stunk up the playing field @ most positions. His best playing OL post is @ LG. But its not saying much since rookies David Edwards & Chandler Brewer have outplayed JD in this post. This has been our biggest offensive disappointment this preseason.

Snead's top 2019 draft selection Bobby Evans is behind 3 or 4 of our current reserves & not yet ready for any starting role. It's my opinion that the Rams thought he would be starting RG material. I am sure the Rams are disappointed at this time in his performance @ RG he has played better @ RT. But again both Edwards & Brewer have outplayed Evans @ RT.

Aaron Neary has a broken left ankle injury & SUP that will keep him out from practicing with the team until October the 5th & longer. Neary can play RG in an emergency, but he is best suited for the reserve center or LG positions:palm:.

Its very apparent that David Edwards has won the all important 2018 Joe Noteboom swing OT position on the roster. This is very good news & shows us Snead is not loosing his touch. Edwards has also played LG very well too. Edwards has secured himself a roster position.(y)

Jeremiah Kolone has been working mainly as the swing OG in TC & pre season. His performance has been fair @ those two OG posts but Kromer has two OL'ers who have outplayed Kolone. JK got lucky with the injury suffered by Neary...... has forced Kromer to insert JK into the important reserve center position. Thus securing him a roster position & a game day reserve. I would preferred to have seen Vitas Hrynkiewicz win this position.

Chandler Brewer has outplayed Kolone, Evans, Demby, Kaskey & Neary @ both OG post in preseason. CB has outplayed Bobby Evans, Jamil Demby & Matt Kaskey @ both OT posts. Who do you think is in the drivers seat to play & START @ the RG post if there is a need?(y);)

I'm really looking forward to seeing more of VH, he looks like a dependable depth type just hope they don't show him too much and get him scooped after roster cuts. I'm thinking PS for him.

Evans did improve quite a bit last game. He still gets exposed a bit at OT, but like a lot of these guys he managed to tie up rushers long enough for QBs to actually look down the field and the offense was much better because of it. I think he's one of those guys who can't handle the mental aspect of flipping things, so that's why they keep him on the right side now and since they did that he's shown better.

What gets lost in these discussions of the backup OL guys is the fact they are not playing with the starters. Take Evans for instance. If he gets inserted at one of the G positions in place of either Blyhe or Noteboom, he just might be more than adequate playing next to the ones. Same with some of the others.

With Neary's suspension and injury and no telling when he gets healthy, Center backup is now an issue. Is Blythe now backup? and who takes his spot if Allen goes down? and in that scenario now you have a center that has taken zero snaps in TC and pre season. Demby? Now Goff is in trouble. Kolone? Vey few snaps at C. Hrynkiewicz? Big guy who came from a small school, but did very well at the combine.

Lets see who Kromer trots out there at C in this last pre season game. I want to see more of Hrykiewicz. He's lookded good to me in TC and pre season. If they put him on the PS, he may get pilfered by another team.

Jojo’s only contribution is returning kicks, some of the other guys can play gunner but Jojo isn’t big enough for that. He’s also probably the worst receiver of the bunch, and as good as this offense is, securing the ball for Goff and company is probably the most important thing. So to me having a guy who catches the ball is more important than whatever juice Jojo provides in the return game.

IMO the injury to Carraway opens the door for Young. Young played well against Denver, but it's really the only time he's flashed. It's obvious he's improved but he's still a work in progress. He's the kind of player they carry but ends up inactive on game day. A developmental player secured on the roster.

As far as the o-line is concerned I think Brewer could be in the mix for RG next year. Unlike the others he's strictly been played at OG and has shown the usual issues that a rookie displays. But nothing alarming, just a raw rookie who needs work physically and mentally on his technique. I would expect him to be out there on Thursday. IMO he could make the active roster as the 9th man if they carry 9 which I don't expect.

If Jojo is playing Thursday he won't be making the roster on this team.

The Rams found some good DB but, can't keep them all. Gervase goes to the practice squad with Scott and Parker staying as extra safeties. The Rams can't risk Darious Williams making it to the practice squad as NFL teams are always looking for good CBs. Williams has looked very good in the preseason games. I doubt any trades will happen but, with trader Les Snead you never know. It would be the veterans Christian and Hill that would have some trade value. Going by the non-playing time both have made the team along with Hager and SJD who appear to be starters.

The big questions on offense are at WR and OL reserves. Webster looks too good to let go. He is smooth in both catching and running after the catch. Veterans Thomas and Hodge also showed well and have special team value.
The offensive line reserves stay as expected with Edwards, Evans and Demby making the 53 man roster despite some growing pains in the preseason. Rams can get the others on the PS with Brewer looking like he has great potential.

I’d wager it’s Blythe until Brewer takes the job. Blythe then becomes the C/G backup or gets traded or cut. I do think we carry 9 on the OLine with Neary on the IR or suspended list.

I think they will follow convention and carry only 2 QB's. I am even more sure that they will only carry 1 NT and that's Gaines. SJD has shown nothing to warrant a roster spot. He simply looks no different than last year despite having a year to develop.

I think they may break from convention and load up on WR's for a couple of reasons. I think Hodge and Thomas are equally talented but show different roles they can play. Hodge is a possession type of WR and Thomas is a mid-range to deep receiver. Also, they need to carry Webster as a possession receiver and return specialist. The other reason is why release players you know probably will be picked up by AZ and or SF? Why strengthen them?

I'm going deep in the secondary looking at next year. There is a real prospect the Rams could completely turn over their CB's. I'm not convinced they extend Peters and Talib. I think they exercise their ability to get out of their contracts with Hill and Roby-Coleman. Both these guys make the team this year simply because of their dead cap situation which doesn't apply next year.

That's why I'm looking at the fact they have replacements already on the roster and one year of experience will mean they have veteran replacements for the guys they release. Two guys are very intriguing. Parker and especially Gervase. When I look at Gervase play I see a CB, not a safety. He has the height, speed, and agility you want in a CB. He's only an inch shorter than Talib, equally as fast as Talib was as a rookie and Jake is more agile. That's not a safety that's a CB. In Parker, he has excellent length and the speed you want in your secondary. That combination isn't common and you don't want him playing against you at AZ or SF. The Seahawks love tall fast CB's and safeties for a reason. It gives them the range and most of all the play radius they don't get with smaller players.

This is my 53 and it's almost the same as the one I posted earlier.

I don't get it...you don't have Everrett as a 2nd TE???
