I think Donald COULD knock Calais Campbell backwards with a head of steam.
I think Donald could knock him on his ass with a full head of steam.

My confidence in THIS offense to convert on most short yardage situations is low. Lower than it should be...which is why i don't really like the identity of this offense.
I agreed with the Fish on the decision to get 3.
Yep. He was right either way he went, but he would have been wrong if he failed to convert on 4th down. He would have been put on blast if he tried to run it in and failed, and he would have been put on blast if he tried to pass it and he failed. So you play the odds in that instance and be smart & safe. As for the 3rd down call, it's simply a case of doing something that worked in the past, but didn't this time. I'm almost certain that if he tried to run it in there (with any of our RBs) and failed, that people would be saying it was dumb because up to that point we hadn't run worth a shit anyway.Part of me was thinking "go" and part was "just take the figgie and get the ball back". Even if they had gone for it and not converted I would have understood the decision because it was possible of course that the AZ defense would continue to clamp down and there might not be that good of an opportunity so you take it when you can get it.
IMO this was one of those pretty rare times when the coach is right regardless of which way he went, if there was a lot less time on the clock it would be different of course and to me that is what gave Fisher the latitude.
EDIT
After reading the posts I had not read before posting this I see a few people are feeling the same way. I can't fault Fisher for taking the 3 but I didn't like the 3rd down call at all.
But if you don't make the TD, the game is over.
The way our D was playing we could have got a pick 6 after the FG and won the game that way.
If it worked, it would have been considered a great call. Now try 3rd and goal from the one.
Come on people, that was a HORRIBLE call. Not bad, horrible.
If it worked, it would have been considered a great call.
And if they had run from the 1 and gotten stuffed, that would have been a horrible call too and Schotty would have been bashed for being too predictable.
Just like I don't think too many people would have been complimenting Fisher's balls had that fake punt not worked in Seattle.
@RhodyRams , you go for it...simple...Our offense hadn't been really moving the ball, what are the odds we would get that close again? It was 1 yard!!!!! Tight formation, PA, throw to a big target...If we fail, defense gets a chance to work some magic...took really all our momentum....

I don't know why people assume a bad call gets praised because it works. I don't think bad calls are great because they work.
Because people don't think they were bad calls when they work. If it worked, it was obviously a good call.I don't know why people assume a bad call gets praised because it works. I don't think bad calls are great because they work.
With all due respect to everyone that thinks the Rams should have gone for it on 4th and 1 with 6 minutes left (remember, you can say anything you want after saying that, according to Ricky Bobby it's in the Geneva Convention!), that would have been the dumbest move I've ever seen! The fact that you've pulled it off in Madden does not make it viable. Our offense hadn't done anything all night and it was a two score game. The Rams HAD to score TWO times! They would likely be able to get the ball back ( and they did) and have a chance to win it with a FG there. There would have been about a 99.8% chance of losing if they go for it there and don't get the score. And to remind you all again, the offense hadn't done anything all night! It was nearly a lose-lose situation to go for it. It's not like the Rams would have been in the lead with a TD there anyway. Sure a TD would have been great, but kicking a FG on 4th down was THE ONLY option. So for those of you that think it was a mistake, sorry, you're wrong. There may have been plenty of opportunities to change the game Thursday night, but that was not one of them.

Especially when it comes to some minor quibble like passing from 1st and goal from the 1 rather than running. Running's safer, but more predictable and the defense is more likely to be looking for it. If a short pass gets the touchdown, I have never seen anyone say "Well, that worked, but we should have ran it."
you are correct in saying the offense didnt do anything all night, so what were the chances of getting that close to the end zone again before time ticked away?
[/QUOTE]This is the other really strong reason for going for it. That kind of field position was nearly .impossible to come by...
