Agree. I don't know if the receivers are really any good though. Granted it's hard to judge with the QB play (which has been adversely affected by the line play), but none of them "pop" on the screen. Just kinda average guys out there doing average things for the most part. I mean, this is twice this season that Jeremy Kerley, of all people, has more receiving yards in the game than all of our wide receivers combined.
I want to believe our WRs are good enough, but I have major doubts. Britt is a #2. Austin is who knows what. Cooper and Thomas are rookies. And the rest are irrelevant. Frankly, we need to add at least one proven WR this off-season.
But I do agree that this scheme just makes it impossible to evaluate anyone. It's sad watching good teams play. The quality offensive minds in this league have such a great flow to the game. They know the tendencies of the opposition. They use each play to setup a later play. They use each defensive play as a learning experience. Our offense is the opposite. The defensive teams know our tendencies. They use their defensive plays to setup later defensive plays. They have the flow to the game.
It's just amazingly depressing how bad Boras is at his job. It's like we gave a 7-year old a controller and asked him to pick plays at random. There's no flow to our offense. There's nothing to prey on the opposing defense's tendencies. We just kind of run plays. The best example I can think of is Asshole Face running that screen pass on 3rd down in the red-zone against us. He knew Williams would blitz. He knew which side he'd blitz from. He called the screen to the opposite side and caught us with nobody to defend it.
When was the last time our offensive play-caller did anything like that? When was the last time our offensive play-caller caught the defense with their pants down?
This year has honestly been worse than 2011. It's just amazing how this team can get your expectations up and then immediately follow-up with a swift kick in the nuts. For the life of me, I'll never understand how Fisher didn't learn from his gigantic fuck-up with Frank Cignetti. Schotty got a lot of hate on this board, but he was a genius compared to the guys who succeeded him.
