I won't say there's no way because stranger things have happened, but I think it's extremely unlikely. Allen is younger than Torres (Torres is already twenty-six) and possibly around Redman's age (not sure of Redman's age, but Allen turned twenty-four in February, and I think Redman was a graduate senior at Louisville, if I'm right? Again, not totally sure.), and neither of them have any of the receiving talent Allen has. Allen's issue is his availability, but he played well as a rookie.

I feel it's much more likely that we go with three tight ends (Higbee, Parkinson, Ferguson) if we don't move Parkinson (which I think we should) than Allen getting beat out by either Redman or Torres.
Allen might be a better receiving talent, but Redman may be a much better blocker coming out of college.

I love the optimism but I think anything over 500 is a lot for our 2nd TE.
It is a lot for a rook TE. But I'm more concerned with involvement than the raw production for year one. In other words I want to see him worked into the offense by the second half of the season. The yards can be low, I don't care about that. But in the December games are we starting to rely on this kid in key situations. Because I think if we're gonna hit on the pick, given what he's competing with in that room and vs our wideouts, he should start to claim roles in this offense the second half of the season.

Disagree. Rookies need 2 full years to reach their potential IMO.
This is true. But barring Higs getting hurt again Fergy won't be worked into the TE1 role. He'll be a slot weapon his rookie season. And that should be well within his wheelhouse to contribute. At least once he gets fully adjusted to the speed of things and knows the playbook cold.

This is why I don't expect him in the first half of the season to be too impacting. There's a lot of nuance to this offense. But he should know the pass game/slot role by the second half of the season.

Certainly that's not outlandish but I think a 2nd round pick at TE should be able to overtake Allen and Parkinson at least in a pass catching role by beginning of the season, if not, that's an issue. And that's not even reaching his "potential."

I get the feeling we'll see him on the field a fair amount. He's got a lot of work to do though. Not only is he going to need to get the playbook down but also forge a relationship with Staff. He can do that by working extra hard and catching everything thrown his way. I can't wait to start hearing training camp reports. @bubbaramfan @VeteranRamFan You guys gonna be our ROD reporters again this year?
And blocking. You forgot blocking.
