We all knew the O line was going to be an issue coming in to this season, so why are folks so surprised the team has
no running game?

Please the defense was making stops before Ben left the game. They was -3 yards in the 3rd quarter before he got hurt and he played most of all the 3rd quarter
i think the league as a whole has not really gotten any good o linemen lately. Sure there is dallas, but alot of teams are struggling with o line. Seems like every athletic college guy is going OLB or DE, not that many great o linemen in the years of late.
Think Fisher needs to simplify the offense. Get down to Xs and Os again, and just line up and hit the other team. Denver tried to do the ZBS system this year, it failed miserably, and they went back to pistol and shotgun sets.
Maybe the day of a ZBS system is just gone with the type of talent of o line in the league this day and age.

Because there's a difference between "O line is an issue" and "we cannot generate anything offensively against a weak defense." Also because the O-line was billed as young and poor in the passing game, but ready to do one-on-one power blocking to enable Jeff Fisher's running game offense to operate.
I think NE is playing with two 4th round rookies and an UDFA on their O-line, yet they continue to light it up. Seriously, I have no clue what's going on. How?

You got me on the TEs. Ours are....not very good.
I think we do plenty of dink and dunk, though. It just doesn't work as well.

The biggest issue for me is the continued predictability of the offense.
On the rare occasion where they throw on 1st down, they usually end up moving the ball. Then they revert back to run on 1st down, run on 2nd down and end up in 3rd and 6 or worse.
How many times today did they complete a pass on 3rd down short of the sticks?
And for those who continue to tout Foles for his deep ball..... More often than not he puts way too much air under the ball and floats it. The interception was just plain ugly. That safety never moved off the spot. Didn't look him off one way or another. Just floated it right down the middle.
Compare the accuracy of Roethlisberger on the quick timing routes... (slants to Brown)with the throws from Foles on similar throws. They may be catchable but more often than not are not in stride or in "frame". The 3rd down check down to Kendricks being one that sticks out. It'll go down as a drop by Kendricks , but the throw was at his knees. The slant to Britt that was deflected and almost intercepted. If he isn't high with the throw it's a completion. Britt has position and can use his body to shield the defender. But instead the throw is high and is now contested.
Lots of blame is going to the OLine in the running game. But they have far too many plays where they just don't block the back side and get run down from behind. That's play design not execution. Also, I counted at least 3 failed running plays where Cook or Bailey gave an ole' block where if they even get in the way of their man there's a hole.
It's a total breakdown across the board right now. And goes a whole lot deeper than the inexperience of the OLINE.

Yeah. I'm done with Cook as a blocker. There was also a bubble screen where Britt waited for the defender to come to him instead of going out and taking out the defender to spring the stacked receiver at the time. I think it was Mason, but I'm drawing a blank on who actually caught the ball. All I know is Britt was way to passive on that play.

Totally agree Coach. Foles tends to float the ball way too much. The last pass to Britt is a perfect example of how many times a receiver has had to come off their feet to make a catch..
If that ball is thrown properly we could be talking about a completely different ending.

For me the breakdown just falls on coaching. A lot of this has been happening for quite some time, ever since Fisher came here. The player names are different but the play and the execution faults remain. When a team remains forever coming off off kilter, and failing their basic, most rudimentary skills and just generally not having much of a good plan and is just completely broken like we are in every facet that falls on the head coach.
It's his job to change this, and it isn't changing. Hasn't come close either.
I realize it's way too early in the season, but at this point I might start wondering if Case Keenum can provide a spark for our offense. He kind of reminds me of Russell Wilson, the way he is able to move around back there and buy time for the receivers. I'm not blaming Foles, I'm just wondering if Keenum might be a better fit for this line right now. Or maybe it will come down to switching the line around. Maybe we need to move Saffold to right tackle and bring in Reynolds to play guard. I don't know, and I UNDERSTAND it's way too early in the season, but I am starting to wonder about how to fix this offense!
