No crap Jeff. Jesus Christ... this is turning into "Shoot, we'll fix this" all over again.

The difference is Mike Martz said that but won games at the same time.

We all knew the O line was going to be an issue coming in to this season, so why are folks so surprised the team has
no running game?

We are lucky Foles is still in one piece IMO

We knew the pass blocking would be bad, but most thought we would impose our will in the run game.

Get the run game going. :p

Seriously. I don't know what to tell ya, man. I'm watching the same things you are, but I can't unring that bell and I can't go into next week and ring that one. All I can tell you is that right now, we need to get the run game going in order to get the offense moving. The defense, it seems, is right where it needs to be save some minor tweaking in underneath coverage. So in order to score more points - which is what you asked about - we have to get the run game going. Simple as that.

we could try some 1st down passes. 2nd and 2 or 4 is better than 2nd and 8 or 10 to go

Agreed. Some passes beyond the sticks on 3rd down would be nice too. But I still think everything builds off of a successful running game with the way this team is built.

You got me on the TEs. Ours are....not very good.

I think we do plenty of dink and dunk, though. It just doesn't work as well.

yes we do dink and dunk but its usually when its 3rd and long and the defense knows what is coming

Switch to read option and mobile qbs who can hide the offensive line problems.

Hand the ball off to gurley and mason all day long.

Funny, cause when Foles ran the ball to try to get a first, i immediately said "that would have been a td for Tebow".

They had a tough time getting Tavon to the ground - not sure why the Rams went away from him.

I see no reason to hate on Foles, so I'm not sure where that's coming from. Both passes to Kendricks were nice throws, the first was dropped and the second would've been perfect but Foles didn't see the safety. Sure, Foles might not be perfect but he's playing good enough to where we should be able to win.

Our problem is that we can't get the run game going and people need to stop dropping balls.

Also, there were some pretty dumb calls on third downs today. Short passes that were clearly two or three yards short of the first. I'm not sure if that's the players or just dumb play calling. But I still like cig's play calling more than schotty's so far.

Two hundred and sixty eight.

197 passing.

71 rushing.

268 total.

Two hundred and sixty-eight total yards.

For comparison's sake, Eli Manning, Kirk Cousins, Matt Ryan, Marcus Mariota, Derek Carr, Josh McCown, Tom Brady, Luke McCown, Cam Newton, Ryan Fitzpatrick - all these players individually outgained our entire offense. Jameis Winston came close.

What do you do with an offense that can't run the ball or pass the ball? Seriously, what do you do?

And we went into the game facing the Steelers, who ranked 26th defensively in yards per game.

Aren't there vent rules?

I have to admit, that was a, "What the fuck are you doing?" moment for me. I did NOT think of Tebow, and his square chin, or his chiseled abs:rolleyes:

HAD Ben...for 2 1/2 quarters, during which the Rams D was on its heels a lot and had no answers to the slants and Ben recognizing coverages and changing plays....no injury to him and Pittsburgh wins that game more like 20-6.
And IF the Bear hadn't shit in the woods, it wouldn't have attracted Flies! Our D knocked Ben out and we took over the game!

Maybe. Maybe not. He was playing until about 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and amassed 9 points.
I'm gonna go ahead and give our DC and players the benefit of the doubt that they made adjustments and they were working.

My guess is to continue to work on the running game and get Gurley more heavily involved. Once that happens, they can start to take more shots down field. There were plays for the taking today, but execution wasn't on point. So they either clean that up or they'll continue to struggle. Back to the drawing board.
Its sad but I would go back to the Pop Warner model. Get two running plays in practice and run them over and over until they are locked in, then introduce two more.

Well, we knew this offense would take time. But boy, only scoring 16 combined points against two non-top ten defenses is flat depressing. The great thing is we are healthy and it's only week 3. We just gotta find our groove. I thing the D has, just need the O to catch up.

Lots of football left, fellas. With a win next week, that would put us at 2-2 with two division wins, one game out of first, and the tie breaker. For how aweful we've been the lady two weeks, we can make up for all of it with two huge upsets and starting fresh against the Browns after the bye.

We've only gotten our feet wet. I just hope we're ready to start swimming in the W's column starting with ARZ and GB. We haven't played a game where we haven't beaten ourselves yet. Let's just see what happens.

The reason we couldn't run today is because PIT consistently had 6-8 guys in the box. The OL couldn't get to the second level. The passing game is the key to our success. Kendricks alone could have won this game for us. Cook looked like he checked out early. Maturity with this team may be its biggest issue. They don't handle their emotions well and dwell on the negative wayyy too much. Hoping that changes starting next week. It's a young team thing.

I repeat, the passing game is everything right now. It really looked like today our pass catchers weren't failing miserably for much of the game. PIT had little reason to back off. We most certainly have not figured that out. IDK if we will, either. All I know is it doesn't get much worse than 1 TD the last two games combined. We can only go up.
