It's really the only way to go. You can ruin a kid if you force him into a bad situation, early. In Simpson's case, the 2026 preseason is prep school for the NFL. He'll be in graduate school next year, then in year three, he may be ready to become the #1. At the moment, there's absolutely no rush. Is it really shocking, Snead, McVay and the Rams are doing things the right way?

I'm surprised Bennett doesn't get some snaps. Preseason or not he could use some live reps IMO. McVay knows best, I guess.

To think they'll be as potent without Stafford at the helm is way beyond hopeful aka you're way more optimistic than I am by far. This the same Bennett that has zero experience playing in an actual game that counts. This is exactly how I felt reading your post....
If I recall correctly, Andy Reid typically let's his starters play in the first game. That's good work for Bennett. I'd be shocked if he didn't play.
Can't explain it, but Bennett not playing wouldn't tell me he's locked in at #2 QB. It would make me think Garoppolo is actually coming back and Simpson is getting all the touches he'll get this season this summer.

I agree (at least till his injury) Higbee is an exceptional blocker - perhaps the best - in line and offset, on whams and traps and crackbacks but Allen can provide blocking in the backfield that Higbee rarely provides. That's why I used "swiss army knife." Allen can block from anywhere on the field and does it from all those positions at a high level.
Does that clarify it for you.

Yep, this works. Allen is still on my shit list as a blocker for not attacking Warner and letting him blow up that 4th down run last year.

If the Rams sign AD their cap could get very tight. They know how to work around the cap but it's another thing they have to think about.
Every preseason, I make a reminder post that for Sean McVay, not playing in the preseason means your position is safe, you made the team, they consider you an important player if not a starter.

Depends on what you read. I read they have enough space to sign Donald and extent those from the class of 2023. According to Spotrac they have 16.8 mil in space this year, 65.9 next year and 233.1 for 2028. I think they can get Donald signed plus Puka, Avila, Turner, Young, McClendon, etc signed for next year and beyond.
