I disagree. That 13 personnel was deadly and we had 4 tight ends in the rotation running it. Now, maybe it depends on your thoughts on Davis Allen - or counting on the continued health of those guys all being able to stay in that rotation - but I think there is definitely a fit.
Nonetheless, he would be a very part time player IMO. A 3rd WR would play more IMO. A swing tackle could be much more valuable. Hell, Simpson (provided they love him) would be much more valuable. A freak of nature like Thieneman would be more valuable. In this very mock, Cooper Jr, Thieneman, and Freeling are still on the board after the trade back.

At the very least he has us trading down and acquiring more picks, but still don't love it.

There is a reason a vast majority of TE's drafted don't impact the team for a few years. We have a shining example in our locker room at this moment.

Just don't see Sadiq being all that much of a contributor for us this year. We are loaded at TE. Yes, I know he could run routes, but so could Ferguson and we saw how much he contributed. This should be the year Ferguson actually gets going and we are going to hinder that by drafting another TE? I don't get it. I get OL, WR, nearly any D position. Don't get TE.
TE's always take a long time but Fergy also missed like a week of camp.

Honestly missing anything more than 48 hours of camp as a rookie basically hamstrings your rookie season on this team.

I know an OT isn't sexy but when you think about it - we have a guy who's lost time to blood clots twice. Another guy who showed well in the regular season then fell off some in the playoffs. And no one else.

I'm all for taking a tackle who can either backup the OT spots or outright take it from McClendon.

I really struggle with the idea of taking a swing tackle at 13. We'd essentially be using a top pick on a guy that hope we don't have to use.
I get that and I agree. But from a futures perspective we are unlikely to find an ideal LT for the long term outside the early going. So if they think he could be that dude then filling the swing role (which is important for right now) with a long term piece for the blindside, which is a cornerstone role, would be strong draft approach.

OL are never sexy as picks. But damn are they nice when you get into December and have the depth to absorb someone missing a game or two. Because teams that drop those games tend to go home, and in the playoffs of course you're out the moment you have a glaring mismatch on that line.

It's entirely possible we see the Rams take 2x OL this year. Doesn't have to be high. But if they shoot high on the OT it may be.

McShay gonna be wrong
What McShay actually said:
"I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but I do believe Ty Simpson goes earlier than expected Thursday night, and I know the Rams think extremely highly of him.

Regardless, I think Les Snead is up to something bigger than sitting at 13 and taking a WR—I’m expecting some kind of fireworks."

Not sure he is a wannabe. He makes his living talking about the NFL draft. Call me a wannabe wannabe then.

He does speak to some teams, whether they tell him the truth or what they want him to report is up to them.
Wannabe as in he like to talk "what he hears" when i don't think he has any legit ins. I do think he's good at what he does.

Which means he will take credit for nailing the pick.

I prefer commentators that simply accumulate information and then summarize and provide it.

I prefer the evaluations and opinions of former-players ... PROVIDED ... they have actually put-in-the-work.

Finally, I also prefer brunettes, with subtle breasts and tight, firm butts ... but it occurs to me that comment may be irrelevant to this discussion; and, perhaps, a little inappropriate.
Subtle breasts and firm butts will never be irrelevant, no matter the convo lmao

McShay's final mock has us taking Simpson at 13....

He talks to GM's, I hope his info is wrong. IF we are dead set on Simpson, trade the f down first. Almost no competition for him.

If we move down, there's a chance the Jets or Cards jump ahead of the Rams from the early 2nd round.
Don't get me wrong...I'd rather the Rams draft someone else.

Great comments, & agreed for the most part - but for this year's draft, waiting until the 2nd or 3rd for a swing OT that gets up to speed during the season & backs up A-Jax would be perfect. I just don't see any team drafting OT in the 1st unless they are in "rebuild" mode, and I'm pretty sure we're in "win now" mode -- which means a play-maker in the 1st.

You don't think we'll keep Alaric? He's been really good and he's only in his mid 20s i belive. I like that idea more for guard, because we know the rams likely won't keep Dotson and Avila next year. I'd love to have Vega or Mauigoia waiting in the wings there.

I'm a huge fan of offensive line. I think you can win championships with every kind of team so long as you have good line play. Personally I hope the rams look towards the second or third to get a swing guy though.

I don't think it not bring Sergio is the issue. It having no value outside of injury is the issue. Early reports suggest the rams want to re-sign McClendon. If that's the case, they likely don't think he fell off in the playoffs (I actually don't remember that either. Only the one Chicago game). So if the rams commit to both, then a backup only helps if somebody gets hurt. Which could happen, but i don't think we need to spend a first round pick on insurance.

Enter, Spencer Fano who could feasibly replace Shelton at Center this season and be able to back up the rest of the line. Extremely valuable player IMO.

I truly believe he has inside contacts, but, like I said, they could use him to their advantage. It makes sense. That said, all info he is fed could be lies.

So many people complain about selecting OL early instead of skill players.
Then when the OL sucks and your QB is getting killed and RBs hit behind the LOS each play - that’s when they want a better OL (then forget again come draft day lol).

I don't know what they're thinking with Alaric. He's done the job. But blood clots are serious so I have had an eye on them possibly looking for a futures piece in that role.

I’m asking because I truly don’t remember, but has he actually missed playing time from them? Or is it all offseason stuff

Makes sense. They did extend him though. My assumption is they plan to keep him at least another 2 seasons.
