Yes, and the link you provided, the first suggestion had them trading next year's 1st round pick. Didnt seem like the right article to support the claim.
If the Rams trade next year's first in some package deal to trade up for Love (which I highly doubt but hey), then it would possibly point to the team leaning towards some potential FA signing at QB when Stafford retires, instead of drafting one.

Or Stafford told them he wants to play multiple years, maybe until he is 40 or more. So that pushes them to look for a QB2, afterall Stafford is 38. However, the QB2 can still be a guy who they feel can be a QB1 in a few yrs from now. That then still leaves open the possibility for a future FA or high draft pick on search of a QB1 if the development fails if QB2.

So maybe Nussmeier as a more plug & play QB2, or a Taylen Green as a project with great tools.

It said 4 trades and I mention pick 6 or 7. I guess I should have explained what to look for.

Well we have issues after this next season with 3 starting O linemen set for big contracts in McClendon, Avila, and Dotson. Fano can Play either Guard or Tackle. Mauigoa can also play Guard or Tackle. Ioane also makes sense since both Avila and Dotson will be due big contracts after this season and it's unlikely we keep both.
Having mused on the issue though I can't see Snead going O Line with the 13th pick. Even if we don't sign both Dotson and Avila or either of them for that matter we've historically found our O line talent later in the draft. With development and good coaching we've put together a very strong starting five. Highest pick we've used was a 2nd rounder for Avila. Both Dotson and McClendon were 5th round picks pretty much, (Dotson trade had us sending a 4th and 5th for a 5th and 6th). Shelton free agent and Jackson rookie free agent.
Still I have no idea What Snead is thinking but O Line that high seems dubious at this point.

Just take the Quarterback at 13. And solve the most important position on the field for the next 10 years.

It's true that the highest pick we've used on OL is Avila, but that's not the highest pick they've tried to use.

In 2014, when they drafted Donald, Snead famously said he was trying to draft two HOF'ers. After selecting AD, they tried everything to move up for Zach Martin but were unable to get it done. That would have been the 2nd HOF'er.

At 13, the mindset is to get a difference maker....any position. Both Snead, McVay, and even Demoff, have spoken of the Rams' mindset to get difference makers when they can. They see them as force multipliers.

If they think Fano, Mauigoa, or Ioane is a future HOF'er, they will be on the short list.

I like how our strategy of bringing a proven vet onboard to lead the team has worked. Draft is more of a crapshoot.

Wonder if that proven vet will be there when Stafford decides to hang 'em up though? Not a foolproof scheme. Gotta figure at some point you have to draft and develop your own.

Just glancing at the QB's that are currently set for UFA in 2027:
Kyler Murray, 29
Watson, 32
Mayfield, 32 (interesting)
Tua, 29

That is about the end of the list of starter or former starters set for UFA. That is pretty bleak.

Also another reason why I see Tampa as a very real option to draft Simpson this year.

After Mendoza I don't see anyone who fits that profile. Mostly projects who might be average in time. This isn't the year for QB in the draft for everyone but the Raiders.

If we don't trade, I'm curious what our options would be to take Feeling or Fano at 13 and then get a wideout at 61.

Wideouts that could be around at 61: Stowers (I believe I and most of the league view him as a WR), Bryce Lane, Zacharia Branch, Ted Hurst, Malachi Fields, Stribling, N'K Lane...

Rams have met with Fields, Stribling, and Branch from that group.

I also see Philly as a dark horse for Simpson. I'm pretty sure someone on here has mentioned that, maybe Philly?
