Chris Simms ranks CBs:
1 McCoy
2 Cisse
3 Hood
4 Delane

He and his Unbuttoned buddy really dig into the details of these guy.
These rankings are a bit different than what we're used to seeing...it makes me realize how different each teams' draft board can be.
...this should be interesting - only about 2 weeks away!
Cisse is my guy in this draft, but the Rams already took care of business at starting CB.
1) drafting a CB at #13 at this point would be surprising.
2) I don’t see Cisse being there at #61

Okay but hear me out, that's basically what he is and how he's used in college.

I'm not asking to change his game, his game remains the same in my above comment - I'm just saying he's a glorified TE and really just a big slot so why not just lean into what he is, have him lean out and see if he can get a tad faster and more bendy in his cuts.

Playing him at Y TE or as a move TE in the NFL will be changing his game.
Generally it seems TEs go the other direction as far as weight goes as they get older but of course every player is different. I wonder if he can be a good blocker. Possibly/probably.

I have to admit to not ever seeing him play.

What was crazy about Tavon is how bad his luck was…like how many TDs were run back and flagged away from the play?

That day he had over 300 all purpose yards was wild and showed his ceiling, but under Fisher? No chance.
Not that I ever thought it was a good idea drafting Austin in the 1rst (let alone moving up for him!), but man, he had some rotten luck on those returns, didn’t he?

That game you speak of, I believe, was the colts game. Had to be his greatest game as a pro. What stands out is his poor decision to field a punt inside the 5 that is obviously on its way into the end zone. All he did was run it back about 98 yards for a TD.

To be fair, I never thought Fisher and staff knew what to do with him. That pick killed the Fisher regime. It was their moment to build on a great first season and catapult the Rams into a contender. They needed an offense. They gave up a 2nd and a 1rst for Tavon Austin.

Los Angeles Rams

Picks: Nos. 13, 61, 93, 207, 232, 251, 252

With the Rams aggressively shoring up their secondary, which direction will they go in the draft?

Rams general manager Les Snead has said the team's philosophy is to take care of major roster holes during free agency, so it doesn't need to be as desperate come the draft. By retooling their cornerbacks room, the Rams no longer have a glaring positional need. But given the lack of depth at receiver behind Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, it would make sense for Los Angeles to add a pass catcher early. The Rams aren't sure how much longer quarterback Matthew Stafford will play, so it would make sense to give him as many scoring threats as possible to maximize his remaining playing window. -- Sarah Barshop

What we're hearing about the Rams' draft: The Rams don't do top-30 visits or workouts, which makes it harder to discern a draft direction, but sources around the league have pointed at linebacker as an early-round target. With receiver seeming like an obvious pick at No. 13, linebacker is the most likely direction in Round 2, especially if Josiah Trotter (Missouri) is available. -- Miller
Am I reading/inferring this right?
1) the Rams are dancing to a different beat than the status quo (I think we knew that)
2) people, especially other teams, are trying to figure out where the Rams are going in the draft? Yet they have not mentioned “inside sources”,

I love it.

Could be a lot of fun but we could just draft Eli Stowers in the 2nd and have him drop 10lbs and have him play big slot and learn him some at X.

Stowers is not a great prospect. He might be a 3rd or 4th rounder. I suspect later than that.

Regarding CBs - I believe Delane is viewed as a zone guy, where Cisse is a better at man.

He has a rep for being a piss poor blocker but I feel like there are some decent reps out there on tape for you to at least think he can do some of the work at blocking.

I think he's a good target at the end of the 2nd if he makes it there. Before then feels rich... though I would have said the same about Fergy last year (just being rich for the slot, their very dissimilar players).

The original quote is regarding 'going to war with the army you have, not the one you might want" ....... in a draft you have a few choices.
Maybe you can shed some more light on what the relevance is here?

That is the quote, just taking a piss buddy.

We have to go with the draft we have, not the one we want. This draft is pretty weak and while there are a lot of choices at WR, it's light at blue chip prospects so we may have to choose from smaller WRs at some point who have things like speed that we want.

I put up a vid of him in one of the playoff games and asked the question "how many times did he affect the QB?" The answer was not that much.

He's an offball athletic freak who is insisting he's an Edge because he wants to be paid. But his Edge future is projection. Why in the fuck would anyone take that dude at 2, as he's being listed, instead of the TT kid. Fuck there's probably 5 Edges I'd take over him straight up, even with his insane upside.

Styles also has some projection to him btw. But unlike his former teammate he is ready to do the work at the offball role and has a lot of film of him performing in his projected role. So I think he has a better chance to be great at ILB than Reese does at Edge.

Reese smells of bust. High end athletic freak. Got used incredibly well by a DC who put on a clinic in 2025. Now of course he sees himself as an Edge only, but what happens if you realize he fucking sucks at it and want to move him to the lower pay ILB role? Can't imagine that goes over well. Truth is he's gonna have to work his ass off vs the best tackles in the game in a big boy league to learn how to rush, because he's been living on his talent.

yikes... who was that MLB that Seadderall took very high, but turned out to be a major bust?

You can take one vid of any player and do that bullshit. Only way to evaluate these guys is watch cutups of a game or the full game and navigate to the snaps they're in. Then you get a real feel for who they are. Highlights are great but they omit the average snaps.

Here's Styles vs Indiana. Dude can stack 'n shed, zero fear taking on OL to hold position. He has range and closing speed. Moves well in drops. He would be a fucking revelation in our defense.

Here's Reese in the same game. Dude covers ground well and runs to the ball like few others. But he fucking sucks as an Edge. You're gonna take him high to be an Edge? I wouldn't. Not when I know he's probably an ILB at this level. What does he do when you tell him he needs to move to ILB. Fuck all that.
