If I was guessing today what the Rams will do, I think Fano would be top 3. I think he can play OT though. I would not love it, but, it would make a fair amount of sense. Branch is a 0% chance. They had Tutu and didn't use him. Why would they try the failed experiment again? Answer, they won't.
I don't think it would be Branch either, but it wouldn't shock me.

Branch isn't Tutu. He's just as fast, but not as straight line as a runner. Branch actually has some wiggle and can make defenders miss. He's also bigger and stronger and returns punts. He'd be Xavier Smith's replacement and a strong fit for some of what Kingsbury runs.

Los Angeles Rams

Round 1: No. 13 overall: Spencer Fano, OT, Utah

Round 2: No. 61 overall: Zachariah Branch, WR, Georgia

I’ve had some pushback on my "Fano at 13" suggestion, and I get why, to a certain degree. The Rams don’t need to sacrifice everything to come out with a right tackle, and there has been a lot of receiver buzz there lately. But Fano is a quality athlete and blocker who some teams believe can play all five positions -- and the Rams are thin up front. Branch could be a dynamic option if he’s there, especially with Los Angeles losing Tutu Atwell in free agency and lacking big-play options lower on the depth chart.

IMO, the ideal picks would be:

Round 1: No. 13 overall: Omar Cooper, WR, Indiana

Round 2: No. 61 overall: Derrick Moore, EDGE, Michigan

Just not sure Moore makes it to that second pick.

Agree, he is 1" and 10lbs bigger, so that is something. I think McVay's biggest issue with Atwell is not having the size to effectively block NFL players. So if he is in the game, its somewhat of a tell. Not sure if Branch if much of a blocker, but, I'll admit, he does have slightly better NFL traits. I just can't see McVay going back to something that similar when there is likely more ideal NFL build WR's on the board still.

On the same token, I thought Atwell was extremely effective on deep routes, but McVay went away from that almost completely. Atwell was criminally underused in 2025.

They almost have a 100% success rate with those 1st round picks they've traded. I say almost because Cooks could arguably be called a failed trade.
Cooks might not have played well in the SB (concussion), but who did?

I would say the success rate of their 1rst round trades are better than any other team’s actual picks in those drafts.

100%. The success rate of the trades overall are much better than other team's actual picks. That's why its a souund strategy.

On the Cooks trade though, I wouldn't call it a rousing success because he was only with the team for 2 years. It's not about the SB.

Rams got Cooks and a 4th round selection from New England and gave up a 1st & 6th round selection.

They got one good year out of him and one so-so year and then traded him to Houston along with a 4th round pick and picked up a 2nd rounder which got them Van Jefferson.

I'd call that a somewhat successful trade. I think. It would be for sure if Jefferson had more dawg in him.

13. Rams

Kiper's pick: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State

This might not seem like a need on paper, with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams eating up targets in the Rams' offense. But there isn't much behind them on the depth chart, and Los Angeles reportedly explored trading the 33-year-old Adams this offseason. Tyson is my WR1 and a great value here.

16. Jets

Yates' pick: Omar Cooper Jr., WR, Indiana

Cooper solidified his status as a first-round pick with a breakout 2025 season that included 13 receiving touchdowns, an average of 7.3 yards after catch and numerous clutch plays. He would pair well with Garrett Wilson.

61. Rams

Kiper's pick: D'Angelo Ponds, CB, Indiana

I checked, and the Rams apparently are allowed to add cornerbacks who didn't play for the Chiefs in 2025. Ponds is undersized at 5-foot-9 and 182 pounds, but he's explosive and will generate takeaways (seven INTs over three seasons).

93. Rams

Kiper's pick: Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU

Nussmeier makes a lot of sense in Los Angeles. He wasn't fully healthy in 2025, and his play suffered. But the Rams can let him learn behind Matthew Stafford and evaluate him over the course of the year. And putting aside the future for a moment, let's remember that Stetson Bennett IV is the only other passer on the L.A. roster right now behind Stafford.

Good Lord, I forgot just how tiny Atwell was at the draft. I'm even more baffled that we draft at SUB 150lb NFL PLAYER? I know he has put on some weight now, which is what I was referencing. But 149 on draft night is a criminal misuse of a pick.

Also didn't realize his broad and vert were that low. Yikes.

Branch is a far superior prospect, but still believe we shy away from him.

A video clip is shown of McVay saying that you can't have too many players rushing the quarterback or those making plays with the ball in their hands showing that the team is open to going for either defense or offense with their top draft choice. He also mentions that with the way that the roster is currently constructed, he feels good with the team having a lot of directions it can go depending on how the draft unfolds at the 13th overall selection slot...assuming the Rams stand pat there. He feels confident that they'll add a quality player there one way or the other.

Meanwhile Mike Tannenbaum feels like the Rams should draft Ty Simpson citing the Green Bay Packers as a model for building for sustained success when they drafted Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love during years as contenders. Matt Miller counters by saying that both Rodgers and Love fell to the Packers at the draft while he feels that Simpson would be a "monumental reach" for the Rams at 13th overall. Miller goes on to say that the team also needs to address the aging Davante Adams as receiver while acknowledging the need to eventually address the issue of replacing Stafford. Miller goes on to say that the Rams should capitalize on the rare opportunity to draft an elite player in Makai Lemon. Tannenbaum compares Lemon to Amon St. Brown and Puka Nacua, but he favors the Rams taking Simpson and addressing receiver later in the draft because he feels this year's class offers more opportunities to obtain a quality player at the wide-receiver position despite acknowledging a bit that this year's quarterback class is lacking.

I obviously disagree with Tannenbaum's logic and I don't agree with Miller's choice at #13. However, I do sort of agree with Miller's advocacy for a team like the Steelers to be opportunistic and take a swing at either Garrett Nussmeier or Drew Allard in the second or third round to be the understudy at the QB position as developmental players with high potential. I just don't agree with taking either that high at this moment.

I was flabbergasted to find out that 63% of active NFL players last season were selected or signed on Day 3 of the draft compared to 24% for Day 2 draftees and 13% for former first-rounders. This segues to the 49ers' recent history of capitalizing in finding hidden gems with late-round picks such as Fred Warner in the third round, George Kittles & Dre Greenlaw in the fifth round, and JaJuan Jennings in the seventh round along with former Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy. The Rams have had some success in doing something similar but obviously not to the same extent as the Niners.

What edge fits the current make up of the rams dline? I know production dropped when Young got hurt? Bailey is a speed rusher I believe, but he probably won't be there for us at 13. Wondering who else fits

If Tannenbaum is saying draft Simpson, I say run away, far fuckin away. The dude is a fucking idiot.

Be interesting to see how Snead uses the 13th pick. No way to know how the draft will fall. Seems like we will take a WR with one of the draft picks we have but that doesn't mean using the 13th pick on one
