Rams tried to get Evans the other offseason but he went back to Tampa. Then they went and got Adams to provide a similar element, though Adams on his best day is no Evans. He is not as big. He is not as physical. And he is not as safe a target on in breaking routes due to his aversion to contact.
Evans got hurt last year, and the Rams still have money tied up in Adams, plus had to solve a shit ass corner room, so they couldn't afford to chase Evans. But guys like him rarely hit the market for a reason. He is now a shell of his former self, still a good wideout who adds those elements but I think the Rams remain in the unrequited category as it pertains to X.
No telling how this board falls of course. But I don't think we need another slot possession clone. That isn't going to move the bar for 2026. It would help us absorb missed time for Puka, and that is valuable. But it's not as valuable as a dude who can line up outside and body the boundary corners who are on an island. Because every matchup the rook faces will be on an island, with full focus on Puka and Adams.
Tate if he were to fall far enough would be a great move-up target for the Rams because he's the best X option in this draft. But if he's off the board the next option up (to my eye) is Boston. And I'm pissed that Boston didn't run, however fact is he's big, he's physical, he's sudden and more polished in the pattern than given credit for with elite hands and catch radius. And if you aren't worried about Tyson's injuries, he's undoubtedly the best WR in this draft. I'd take him before Tate if it wasn't for the fact I don't trust him to stay healthy. Keep saying he reminds me of OBJ, and it just so happens OBJ was the dude who made this offense absolutely unstoppable in that brief window he was active for us.
So personally fuck settling for the typical lesser talent. Let's expand this offense in the redzone and in four minute down that sideline.
