I have faith in McVay to vet if Pickens is a fit or not. I'll leave it up to him and Snead. Not advocating for the trade by the way.

Fair enough. It would just be harder for me to support a Pickens deal (which would almost certainly cost our first and possibly a lot more players we have with Puka needing an extension as well) than a Brian Thomas Jr. deal (which could be cheaper and has more years on his rookie deal).

EDIT: Dolphins nabbed Michael Taaffe. Solid pick, liked him a lot as a free safety archetype.

Honestly depends how the contract is structured and there's no way to know what players the Rams are willing to let walk in FA which really doesn't give an idea of what money is truly available. It's all rumors at this point so we'll see. Maybe its AJ Brown instead of these 2 WRs :laugh4:

Pickens was one of the best receivers in the NFL last year, and Dallas still hasn't given him more than a franchise tag (and they have a lot less players to pay with Parsons gone), and there are rumors that they're actively trying to trade him. I don't see any positives with trading a first or second for Pickens; the guy is a mercurial diva, and I don't think he's even close to fitting what McVay envisions with his receivers, else Desean Jackson (and Marcus Peters, for that matter) would've been kept on the team.

The reports I saw I believe said disgruntled WR. There are several of those around the league - I’m a huge fan of Pickens talent - but dont think much of him as an individual. I think push to shove, that is probably going to be true of a fair amount of the WRs in the league. I saw BTJ make a lot of business decisions - and for someone who came out with so much talent and promise - he just went away as Jax got better and better largely without him.

Relax... I think you have to step back and look at the big picture. The Rams wont trade away 27' picks at this point. They probably feel they need to keep a full war chest of picks so they have an opportunity to add someone at the trade deadline if needed or a training camp trade like they did with Dotson. It didn't work last year, but it certainly did in 21' with Miller and again Dotson and even Corbet are other examples. So why trade a pick for another mid to late round pick at this point who likely won't be a factor in 26'? Keep them, and if it looks like you can add a guy in September or October, then you have picks available to do so.
By no means am I advocating sacrificing 2027 or other future draft assets in order to move up the board in this draft. I'm mostly bemoaning what could have been. Don't worry. There's not much left for me to wring my hands about.

Regardless of what happens next season, the team has to continually lay the foundation for future seasons beyond, which this and future drafts are big tools to do so.

A.J. Brown ship has sailed; it's all but confirmed he's a Cheatriot. They're just waiting until a certain date.

Honestly think that a lot of BTJ's struggles were injuries. The guy played hurt all year long, and that might've played into why he made business decisions.

I'm willing to make a bet that his rookie season - without injuries where he was close to winning OROTY - could be the real BTJ. He's tall, fast and has solid hands...and he will block, unlike Pickens. If I could get BTJ for a 2027 second, I'd do it in a heartbeat because you're not going to find a better receiver in the late second round.

Yeah I was like, “we do??”
lol me too
But maybe he was meaning in an emergency mid game injuries. So yeah, Avila could slide over in emergency.
Maybe not referring to the 2027+ starting position. Although I hope we do have a cheap in-house guy to take over next year (ala our LT & RT)

Bills with a Jalon Kilgore pick. Not only a first-class last name, but he's a decent safety who could've been selected in the third.

Painful to watch this. Starting to get the feeling we are just going to sit unto our picks come up. The rumors must be true that we have a trade deal in the works for somebody. :not:
Since they're also drafting for '27 this year, I have to wonder if they're going to use some of those picks to fill out our '27 roster for a '28 run. Maybe reloading. ;) Simpson throwing to Nakua and Ferguson and Klare sounds pretty interesting.
