I think we will agree that Trost is already better than the turnstile we paid to back up LT last season.
I agree that D.J. Humphries was awful in his one start last year; and that was a disappointment. I liked the signing prior to the start of the season. Humphris had played a lot of good football in his career.

I’m just not quite willing to put the #93 overall pick, who I have never seen play, immediately ahead of a former first round pick, with over 100 starts and a Pro Bowl.

I am not pro-Humphries. Just cautiously hopeful for the rookie.

See, that’s what I meant by Very Optimistic.

Heck, Bobby Evans was a 97th overall pick.

If we trade next years 4th it’s worth around pick 140 on the value chart

Looking at the talent left I would definitely consider it

There are players left that I really like but many will be gone by then.

That said, CB and OL still look pretty stocked.

I hope they at least trade up for a returner

I don't know - next year's draft is supposed to be a better draft.
I'd hate for us to be wishing we had that 4th rounder next year as we're sitting here in 2027.

That’s true but the playoffs and Super Bowl will be over by then

I doubt it happens but just putting it out there

It's unlikely a rookie 4th round pick will be the difference between winning the SB or not.

Not to mention that we already have four pro level tight ends already on the roster and a backup to them.
What are we going to do with six tight ends?
I mean I love the 13 personnel package but you can't run it all game. Can you?

Maybe mcsnead thinks we have so many needs that they're just going BPA.
How many WRs have we carried when we were just 11 personnel? 6 or 7. Why wouldn't we 5 when we are planning to run 13 personnel>

I think the Trost selection is a perfect example of this when comparing to what the Eagles did earlier in the rd.

The Eagles took Markelle Bell, ESPN rated him as the 18th best OT. You can see he has tremendous upside at his size and athleticism for that size, but his floor could also be very low if he can't control his weight and if his movement skills might not be enough at the NFL level. He could wash out in a few years.

Trost was ranked as the 13th best OT, but he is closer to being maxed out. He likley will never will be a pro bowler, but he probably has an excellent chance of being at least a valuable swing OT and maybe a solid starter.

The Rams don't often take a swing at the low floor high ceiling guy. Maybe picks like that Alabama Edge from a few years ago solidified that thought process. He had a knee issue, but had a high ceiling. Didn't work out and he is still trying to latch on somewhere.
It’s funny though. People bang on the Simpson pick because he won’t help 2026 SB chances. Yet here we got an experienced (25) OL that can play 4-5 positions on the line - thus allowing better game day roster flexibility instead of using so many spots for backup OTs, OG, etc. Him being more experienced means he can contribute this year, if needed, for injuries - not a developmental OT for 2-4 years from now.

Pick a lane to complain (not you, other fans and media).

Same with the TE. He’s needed because we need 4 TEs on game day. These guys get hurt (esp Higs).

Bright side is that we could possibly get them if we packaged other picks. I'm not sure we will, but it's a possibility.
I'd do this. It only gets work in the 6th and 7th round. Also, relatively easy to acquire more 7th rounder if needed.

Personally, I think there are some talented players still on the board that could help us this year. I'd make the move.
