Don't get over excited about the pick. The Rams best draft in 23' they didn't even have a #1 pick.

Now they don't have to chase QB next year and this kid was considered a top 5 pick in late October. The kid is a great fit and can learn at a snails pace behind Stafford.

Good teams don’t get the opportunity to draft one very often.

They had the shot and they took it.

I agree, I will admit I wanted a toy, something fun and romantic but when you can get the #2 QB off the board with an aging starting QB and you are arguably the best team in the league you have to strongly consider it.
It is the type of tough decision that keeps franchises relavent through transitions even when it isn't a win now move.

Reminds me of Packers taking Rodgers at 24 when Brett Favre still had 3 good years left. And Packers taking Love in the 20's when Rodgers still had 3 good years left.......

Simpson was a surprise pick for me at #13. Not sure if any other team had him in their sights. I can see why they made the pick. He has mobility, good feet/balance and high QB IQ. He made a lot of tight throws. Time will tell, but the Rams have what they believe is their future QB.

Agreed, but it’s reported that he told Stafford they planned to take him. Maybe he’s just focused on rd 2 already?
