All the military academies now allow their graduates to delay their active duty for 10 years to give him a chance at a career in the NFL. I think they do have to join the reserves from what I understand during that 10 years however. The military academies understand that having players drafted does for their recruitment. On both their sports teams and their regular academy students.

They can defer that now. I think Trump executive ordered that in his first administration that academy players can defer their commitments. They mentioned that with Heidenreich that he can defer that commitment
