Sounds extremely fair. Dont have the strength or the want-to to do it, at least not right now. Willie McGee is in my Top 3 all-time favorite Baseball players, along with Orlando Cabrera and Thurman Munson.

Well, you're more than welcome on the thread whenever you wish, just saying. :)

I'm actually not the one who started it. Someone posted a meme of Rutschman on the football field. You even stated "We have our next Varitek" one post before mine.

And I'm glad that Raja, Dizzy, Ducky Medwick, Stan the Man, Gibby, Brock, Boyer, Cepeda, Simba, Carlson (for a time), Ozzie, Willie, Vince Coleman, Bruce Sutter, Jack Clark, Albert "The Machine" Pujols, Yadi, Waino, Edmonds, Rolen, Holliday, Berkman, and even Beltran, to an extent, brought us glory. We'll get it back because we're not going to be bad forever, not with the prospects we've gained/will gain, not with the surprising fight that our team showed this season.

We'll see you in HELL the next World Series (hopefully overthrowing the Dodgers), and then we'll see who is better. But for now? Let's take it on the Cardinals thread; I'm always glad to talk shop with fellow baseball and hockey fans. Sound fair?

Not if the Dodgers GM keeps corralling talent and taking all of the top Japanese stars.

Boston having a nice stretch of games, but unless the wheels fall off, it’s gonna be Dodgers for awhile…

Y'all make it sound like, there is football going on somewhere.....
and this is interrupting that??? :dizzy:

I honestly think the Red Sox got the worst of the deal. Rutschman is on the IL with no timetable with his injury, according to the very GM who dealt him, and had a very poor year last year. The Orioles are stupid for not supplementing their young talent with savvy trades, but they did get Boston's top two pitching prospects (including a guy who immediately slides into their #1 prospect ranking), a good nineteen-year-old outfielder already in High-A (and excelling there), an offensive-minded catcher whom they could flip at the Winter Meetings.

In addition, Boston's paying for one-and-a-half (and maybe less, depending on circumstances) seasons of Rutschman; he becomes a free agent after the 2027 season. And with a potential lockout possibly destroying the season, his free agency timer might not be set back to 2028; I don't think that happened with the 1994 lockout, even though it might not be the best comparison.

So they may only have a half of a season with Rutschman, and he's injured and has no timetable for his return, according to the GM who traded him, who could've used physicals to prove he's ready to come back.

It's a shitty trade for the Red Sox and combined with completely giving up on Marcelo Mayer and not getting anything good back for him - and adding that I still think that the two Sox/Cardinals trades are a potential win for the Cardinals, should the younger players pan out - I actually feel bad for Sox fans like @Boston Ram .
Didnt love the trade here at all. No problem with Rutschman the player I just think we could have better utilized our prospects here. Good news is our best deadline trade in the last 5 years were all damaged goods when they got to Boston. Steve Pearce (WS MVP) and Kyle Schwaber so maybe Rutschman falls into that catagory :)

This is what I really hate, the term left on Rutschman is nothing really. They can extend him for mouse nuts. Highest paid C makes 15M per year. Its the lowest paid position on the field, so the private equity Red Sox think this is a good idea.

The real prize they gave up here was Eyanson. I like him alot and he could/should be ready next year to contribute. Witherspoon has been a disappointment and has shown little. I know its only a year but more was expected and has made not progress on his velocity or command. I know nothing about Azocar, I dont track 19 year olds.....its just way to early lol. I also would of prefered giving up Wong instead of Narvaez. I like Narvaez, I think that could come back and haunt them.

Oddly, I love the Mayer trade. He is the ultimate tease. The talent is undeniable and he looks the part but is made of tissue paper. In 6 years he has never played a professional baseball game in the month of August....always hurt. I love Erik Miller!

Breslow did show is inexperience as a GM this trade deadline. He got burned last year by the Twins when he tried to acquire Joe Ryan, so this year he made offers teams could not refuse. Like the trade for Rutschman but even worse was trading Connely Early for some australian guy I never heard of lol.

I wish they just used Early, Witherspoon, Azocar and whoever else and just got Skubal for the remainder of the year.

LOL, the Rutschman trade will be GREAT for us, he's CLOSE to coming off the IL, already talking extension to be a long-time Red Sock, only Eyanson has a chance to be really good (Witherspoon is proving a head-case already) and "not getting anything good" back for Mayer is a complete falsehood..

Yes, the Red Sox will be raising another World Series banner sometime in the latter half of this Decade.
Is this another Sox fan?! :)

BTW, one of my early football cards was of David Ray. I don't even remember him as a kicker for the Rams but I had this card.

This batch was the 1st for me when I started collecting cards. Young teen me was very disappointed that they removed the horns. Also same batch... why does Youngblood have kickoff return stats???

Apparently, the card publisher didn't have a licensing agreement with the MFL/ member clubs?
Profootballrefence.com shows BLOOD with two KO returns in his rookie season of 1971 for 36 yards
and a long of 22. Must have been in the wedge and fielded a couple squibs.
