Posted on this topic dozens of time, and have NEVER COME CLOSE to suggesting 'it would be easy'.

This is an example of why we could never make things work ...

Posted dozens of times about trading for a guy who hasn't asked for a trade and is signed for many years and is the face of a franchise. You never listen to the player or reality let alone me :D

When I first posted the idea of Joe Burrow seeking a trade (back in the Spring), I clearly stated that a Bunch of Stuff Needed to happen ... including the Bengals having TWO More disappointing non-playoff seasons in 2025 and 2026, causing Burrow to grow more and more frustrated.

Well, Cincinnati has now had One More of those disappointing, non-playoff seasons; and Burrow has started to show some of that frustration, as evidenced by his comments yesterday.

Who was the last Pro Bowl caliber QB that demanded a trade? Especially one that wasn't going into the last year of his current contract?

After the Goff / Stafford trade, I have come to a careful conclusion anything can happen...... And I'm sorry but nobody saw that trade coming, and a lot of Rams fans were chewing their finger nails when it did happen, and chocked on them when Stafford brought home a ring to LA.....

The probability of the above happening was (p<0.01)

Just chimming in and out real quick. I recall those posts from back in the Spring, and I think I even replied once or twice to them! And, you are correct that you were looking ahead a couple years down the road, and that a lot had to happen, for it to happen.

Had a brief exchange on this topic yesterday with another poster.

Since this is a long-ways-away, and only a slight possibility in my opinion, I am not interested in identifying any comparables. Any possible examples would only have some similarities, with some clear differences.

Not that I want to continue this discussion in the transaction thread but something to add to this. If you trade Burrow after the season that is a $56.25 million dead cap hit. One thing nobody is adding into that is those 2 diva WR's they just gave a shit ton of money to. You trade their QB they're going to likewise ask for a trade most likely. Now you're adding another nearly $72 million to that dead cap hit. So moving Joe is going to get your other 2 stars on offense to want similar treatment so now you have cheap ass Brown with a dead cap hit approaching $130 million and the estimated total salary cap next year is around $236 million. I'm sure they would love to field a 53 man roster only using $100 million of cap space.
That crossed my mind as well

Dont recall saying that he wouldnt request a trade, saying that he wont be traded to the Rams.
It's just silly
But hey maybe the Rams will find a superstar QB working in a Hy-Vee supermarket again
Or a a player like Burrow will have his wish list just Stafford had.

Can't trade a guy to a team that he refuses to go to. Not with the contract he commands.

This is why I don't think it will happen. I don't know of any elite QB that was traded in their prime, around 30. I doubt Detroit would have traded Stafford at 30 rather than 33/34 and heading into the last year of his contract.

On the dead money issue of Chase and Higgins, I'm only seeing approx. $20 mil. combined after 2027. That's not insurmountable.

His wish? You guys need to stick with actual history.
He was on the last year of his contract, Detroit was trading him and made good by having him be part of the process.
It worked out great for all involved but again, nothing like the Burrow deal
And um, oh yeah, Stafford on the books for 2026 for some 40-50 mill of cap space whether he plays or retires

I don't think it will happen, next year or probably ever, just saying anything can happen. Who was thinking Stafford could be a Ram back in 2019 or even 2020?
