And on the flip side of that coin, Im feeling a lot of Rams fans are discounting Emanuel Forbes this year. At the worst I’m feeling he’ll be able to contribute as our 4th CB in 5 and 10 packages and dare I say become a decent standin if someone gets hurt on the outside with an off season and time in the culture under his belt.

With a solid CB this draft we could be deep asf at CB when it’s all said and done.

I definitely don't discount him there but Forbes shouldn't be counted as a starter until he consistently proves it. I do believe he provides solid depth for sure but the need for starter level CBs is definitely there based on who we currently have and their contract statuses. I hope Forbes is eating and gainingore muscle though. He's so damn scrawny for his height. Hopefully the strength team has him looking a bit more built up next year.
 
I like that we brought Spoon back, and I feel that we have a decent secondary, which will be made better as our D-line continues to improve and grow.

But we still don't have a lock down corner. I really think that if we can draft one at 26, or even trade up if we need to, our defense could really become special.

Yeah I am really thinking we need to trade down and draft a really good CB first then BPA the rest of the way with maybe a strong focus on TE WR OT RB ILB

The prob is we have a lot of flawed corners with significant weaknesses.

Spoon won me over with how he played down the stretch last season, however any time his anticipation of the route is not locked in he gets burned because he's limited athletically. Kendrick is also limited athletically. Both are physical but the lack of wheels hurts them unless the rush is getting home, which yes they do a lot.

Durant and Forbes both struggle with physicality when teams throw it underneath on them, which is a staple for this division and the proliferated WCO around the league. But you play those two vs SF and you're in for a long day. Note that if you're elite enough in coverage that can carry your spot on the field like it did with Deion, but he was a generational corner. These guys obviously aren't anywhere near to that in coverage.

Williams had a bit of a down year in 2024 because he was drawing top threats. Our most balanced corner but yes if we had a real CB1 to take that top draw then all of a sudden we have a solid corner room who can be mixed and matched and fit their lesser roles.

Getting that top corner is difficult in the back of round 1. Plus this draft isn’t full of star corners. Corner is one of the positions that evaluators in the NFL and media can identify pretty accurately. Sure you get some late round surprises but it’s not frequent. In general cornerback flaws and strengths are easy to define.

So, in a case like this draft, what do the Rams prioritize in a corner, knowing they aren’t going to land a Darrel Stingly or a prime Jalen Ramsey?

It seems like what will happen is they draft another number 2 type of corner. Maybe he can make a difference in year one, but the player will have shortcomings to try to overcome and that will be exploited. Is he too thin, too short, too slow, can’t play man, etc….

I think in that case they need to prioritize length. Long arms and height can make up for less athleticism. So, another Witherspoon type. If a corner is short he better be great in coverage and needs to know how to play the ball, unlike David Long.

I think it will be a tall order for the Rams to fill in this draft.

I don’t see it after the Spoon signing.Your points are valid,but as much as The Rams don’t draft CB’s with there Top Picks like MLBer.

IMO CB in 2025! Isn’t as much in need. If you look at past seasons it’s easy to see,especially with The Depth The Rams have right now!

They released Tre Tomlinson showing there depth.I mean anything is possible,,but that’s just there draft board & the value.

RB-TE-ILB-OT are the target position imo. Then it’s best available.Always best available,but
those are by position.
WR with Stoops & peda opens a spot as well.x smith & Tyler Johnson might be resigned.
 
Whomever the CB is that we draft this year, he needs to be a bigger physical defender. We have too many thin, small CBs - Durant, DW, Forbes.

Yeah it's a tough call. If they go corner at 26 there will probably be a bit of a projection involved, and I'm fine with that.

This is why I thought Kiper's recent mock was quite shrewd, he had them take the Florida St kid. Who showed well in Senior Bowl week, and also has good size, plus the Rams have two players who can vouch for who he is in the locker room.

No idea what the Rams board looks like of course but I could see them zero in on a guy like that and if they do hit on said corner boy howdy would this defense be something. Then add one of those ILBs round 3+ and we have ourselves an elite unit.

Woods , Wallace & Lampkin were pretty solid last year as a group of unknowns.

Jayle. mcCollough was basically The Star though. WOW he came up Big for a safety.

Forbes & AJ Green will be given a chance to compete.In 2024 The Rams were going to role with Kendrick SO I say The Rams are Kool & comfortable at CB in 2025.

No one here makes that point at all . Even Oldschool. The Rams traded for Ramsey under Mcvay,but Les Snead always looked for value player. In 2017 The Rams Doubled up on a Franchise Tag for Tru Johnson.

In 2023 they were rolling with Kendrick & Spoon a long with this same cast. DON’T see The Need.

I prefer Trey Amos from Ole Miss. he’s better against the run than Thomas. Thomas does have closer to elite pass coverage skills though, but his run defense isn’t good. Porter is similar and faster, but again run defense isn’t his game. Unless something changes it seems like that’s always been an important factor since McVay arrived.

ILB is if NEED. This FA pick up thinks he’s coming into start for The Rams.

IMO The Rams by week 4 will have a starting ILB who is not in there Roster.
Your point is well taken,but The niners drafted 2 FSU DB’s last season.SPOON has been given a handshake agreement to be The Rams starting CB.

In 2 seasons he has only gotten better, & his drive to succeed & win say that in his 1 Year Contract!
 
BTW - Mcvay & Spoon have a mutual respect & professionalism with each other.They both said last season SO.Those were basically said in interviews during 2024.

The Rams for now are basically done signing player. I saw some are saying there’s going to be June cuts? OTA’s will start up in a few weeks.Then we will all get a better idea on reports leading into the Draft.

I like the MLB signing because he’ll bring in competition.Speights as much as most think he’ll be a starter ?? As an UDRFA he has limits.Nate Landman talks about knowing Omar from watching him at Oregon State(before play).

Tony Fields has a little experience as well,but there’s No Doubt ILB will be targeted by day 2.

Well, it's not the worst thing in the world to have a collection of all average DBs. Some playoff teams had below-average starters last year. Only Philly had several DBs rated above-average.

Very true. And the more (and faster) pressure the D gets on the QB, the "better" the DB's play...
