I think it depends on how much he would cost. If he came in at the veteran minimum, it might be worthwhile. I'd be more tempted to wait out the draft and see what we have when it wraps up.

Yeah. Even if they drafted a corner in round one, there is no way to know if he will be able play well enough yo make Williams expendable. There’s no reason to starters that are under contract without knowing for certain that you can adequately replace them

I see where you're coming from...I'll say this.... if cutting D. Will doesn't save us any money, then yeah, we're likely better off keeping him.

From my perspective though,.... hypothetically..... If we drafted a guy like Darien Porter out of Iowa Stat in the 3rd round.... 6'3... ran a 4.3 40 yd draft.... if your 4 CBs were Witherspoon, Durant, Emmanuel Forbes, and Darien Porter..... Lake plays a lot of CB in coverage for us as well... It might be a stretch, but I wouldn't be mad at that..... Forbes is a much better fit for us than he became in Washington.

I dunno about Rogers. He clearly is not the MVP caliber Rogers anymore. But I've seen him a few times last year. He's still got some mobility. The arms looks good enough. And he's got a high football IQ for the position. Pittsburgh would seem like the best fit. They always have a winning season but can't go far if they make the playoffs because of the quarterback. They have a couple talented receivers in Pickens and Metcalf. I can see Rogers going out on a winning note if he signs with Pittsburgh.

I think with a QB of Rogers talent the give-a-fuck will run out before his arm isn't good enough any more. He's still got enough arm.

This is where Stafford is a better QB. I think he's still hungry to cement that gold jacket. Rogers has always been a weird dude, it's why he went off the board later than he should have in the draft. But I think he's close to saying fuck it.

At this point we've filled needs to such a degree that whoever we draft will likely not start immediately with the exception of LB.

Agree, and even at CB, not sure there is a huge diff between a CB taken at 26 vs ones available at 90, or earlier in rd 3 if they trade up to target a guy in the 70's.

So pick 26 could be used on anything. If I had my way they trade back to 30 or 31, (maybe KC moves up for the last OT worthy of a rd 1 pick). Then at 31 you take Shough. That type of trade might get you KCs 2nd or their 3rd & 5th. Or a 2nd and a pick next yr.. Can do some more damage with those picks while still taking that swing at QB.

Forbes is a huge unknown and frankly scares the shit out of me with his scrawny ass frame. Relying solely on rookies is bad planning. Now if we draft some and we hit to the point where Williams becomes expendable then that's understandable. However I find this scenario completely unlikely since the more CBs we have the better. Besides Williams would make a fine 2/3 CB if we somehow pick some legit CBs in the draft.

PFF rated Witherspoon slightly above Williams but both were solidly average. Durant was rated in the same territory, too. Nothing special about any of our CBs.

Williams 59.8
Lake 58.4

Note that 60.0 through 70 is average. So all of these guys are pretty much right at league average. It wouldn't be earth-shattering to move off of any one of them because they are all JAGS.

Nah, it's PFF. I figured it out. You are looking at the regular season stats and I was looking at the regular and post-season stats. Either way, there's not much daylight between the numbers.

It's the same reason they traded Kupp. But I'm fine with keeping all of them until the end of TC to let the pecking order sort itself out.

I rate them above a JAG. A JAG is more a below average player. Reeder is a Jag. Rozeboom is a Jag. But Speights was an average LBer.

I think the DBs are solid contributors that fit the overloaded upfront defense that the Rams employ. It’s tough to pay stars at every position.
