Kupp was a slightly more valuable, but in terms of value for cap hit, Mayer was much better value. Mayer was easily worth double his cap hit on a rookie deal. Kupp made more than 4x his actual value over the last two seasons.Mayer was targetted 32 times to Kupp being targetted 100 times. Are they really equal value to an offense?
That's why cutting Kupp might be necessary.
If Snead can get a starting caliber player with two years left on a rookie deal (at any position) in exchange for Kupp, he's is taking it.
