Mayer was targetted 32 times to Kupp being targetted 100 times. Are they really equal value to an offense?
Kupp was a slightly more valuable, but in terms of value for cap hit, Mayer was much better value. Mayer was easily worth double his cap hit on a rookie deal. Kupp made more than 4x his actual value over the last two seasons.

That's why cutting Kupp might be necessary.

If Snead can get a starting caliber player with two years left on a rookie deal (at any position) in exchange for Kupp, he's is taking it.

Why would anyone give much away for 2 years of Mayer when they have a stacked draft that can net them someone cheaper for 4 years? He’s potential at this point and that’s not a good thing.
Yeah I don't get the Mayer hype. He hasn't shown much of anything yet and has missed a huge chunk of a season due to personal issues. Better options imo.

It's like the QB's on a 2nd try some people are just interested in redemption. Like Zach Wilson etc etc Mayer was hyped at one time and now people want to give him a try.

It isn't about Mayer for me. It's about getting anything better than a 6th round pick for Kupp.

I saw a trade that I wouldn't mind at all .... Kupp for Alexander.

Both are injury prone - both have not played many games in the last few years.

But both would fill a need when available. And salary cap hits are about the same.

I'd rather get a pick than Mayer. He's essentially a draft bust at this point. The Rams have drafted better players in later rounds than Mayer.

Sure, if he didn't have a similar absence last season like Bennett had previously I would be less apprehensive but I wouldn't want to roll the dice at this point.

I'd honestly rather have a 6th with the way we've been drafting last couple of years. Idk, if that were to happen I'd embrace it and look forward to Mayer proving me wrong but the red flags are concerning.

I'm not one of the people trying to trade for him. This is an excellent TE draft, get a better younger guy.

If Mayer was any good then I’d say yes. But his production is lousy. Acquiring him does absolutely nothing for the offense.
