For me it's perspective. I'll sing his praises as a very good pick considering the choices in that draft and a decent signing in 2025 for his salary and skills. I don't hear anyone - certainly not me - saying he's going to be a star. But he certainly is and will be a key factor. I think 2025 will be his best year. He's a great complement to Adams and Puka. The Rams desperately need his speed on the field - directly and indirectly to open up teammates.

On a side note. I'm new to the board, but have been a lurker for years. You have been one of my favorite people to read. Fun as an older dude living in Bills country to conjecture with fellow Rams fans.

It’s not hate. Nobody has a personal vendetta against Atwell. If he plays great for a full season then that will be wonderful, exciting! Everyone will love him and sing his praises. The problem is people claiming that McVay didn’t realize how good he was until now, or that he’s been underutilized as if McVay forgot how to coach offense. It’s absurd. Atwell hasn’t proven that he’s even a regular starter. Tutu has been in the league for four seasons. If he was as good as some people claim then at minimum he would have been the number three receiver.

This is just like a few people that used to say Brian Allen or Joe Noteboom were very good. They weren’t. For some strange reason some fans latch onto underdogs and try to build them up to be more than what they are.

Sing Tutu’s praises after he’s proven to be all that you hope he is, not before. I’ll gladly eat crow on Atwell’s ability if he shows he can produce more than in spot starts or against certain teams. Until then, it’s just speculation and projection being passed off as fact.

People claiming he was underutilized can't be a problem because McVay said this:

"He. Was. Underutilized"

You're the one disagreeing with the coach. That's more of a problem than those who agree with McVay.

And no one is singing his praises right now. Some simply believe that he'll play great and produce over a full season if given the opportunity.

That is what people do. They frame a topic in a extreme way and it then makes it easier to argue against it. To make it something it is not. Or to pick a fight. Like an old girl friend. I would say "Damn those pants are tight." And she would say, "So you think my ass is to big for these pants."

So Tutu was good because he matched or exceeded numbers from a bad year of Kupp that got him cut? A Rams legend was bad and that makes Tutu good?

Also using the word hate when somebody described a players lack of production is one of the most ridiculous things, it's childish to be honest.

Also there are enough threads discussing this it doesn't need to be rehashed in the transaction thread.

Come on. You really think McVay is admitting to foolishly letting one of his most talented players languish on the bench? Tutu had four years to grab a starting spot and he didn’t do it. Thats is all the proof you need.

And yes, a few people are already claiming he will have a huge year and he should have started over Kupp last year.

Whatever. We can revisit it at seasons end. I hope y’all are right.

He could have refused to sign him for $10m and said nothing. Sign DRob or Tyler Johnson instead. It's not like his hand was forced.
