As ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio points out, Judkins is sure to face scrutiny from the NFL under the league’s Personal Conduct Policy, while Florio also notes that “the baseline punishment for a battery is six games,” which can vary based on other factors. Judkins has not yet signed his rookie deal, and will likely take less guaranteed money than he hoped for following his arrest, which could cause a trickle-down effect for the 29 other rookie second-rounders who have yet to sign their deal. Judkins was expected to compete for the Browns’ RB1 spot in training camp, and while he will still get a chance to do so, fantasy managers should remain open to the possibility of a suspension being handed down at some point this season. Not crazy at all. That’s a big part of what that test is for. It weeds out the dummies, the low character guys, the guys that lacks heart. They are looking for high character leaders. It’s not likely that a guy who beats his girlfriend would pass the test. If you doubt it, just consider the drafting success since implementing it.

I think it's weird to assume that's why the Rams passed a running back that otherwise was a clean prospect with zero history of any run ins with the law. I really think the Rams wanted their TE as they tried more than once to get one high (ex. Kincaid, Bowers). Kinda doubt Judkins was a real target of theirs considering when they decided to go after a running back. Running backs with sketchy backgrounds don't go high in the 2nd round.

John Elway will not face charges related to the death of his longtime friend, business partner and former agent, Jeff Sperbeck, who died in April from injuries suffered when he fell off a golf cart being driven by the Hall of Fame quarterback.

The Riverside County (California) Sheriff's Office said in a statement Monday that no criminal charges will be filed at this time and the case will be documented as an accidental death.

"It's over," Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco told Denver TV station 9NEWS on Friday. "We've talked to everyone involved and we found nothing new. There was nothing criminal. It was what we've been saying all along that this was a tragic accident."

The sheriff's office told ESPN that, like other cases, "it can be reopened for re-examination if new evidence comes to light."

Sperbeck, 62, died after he fell from the golf cart and hit his head April 26 in La Quinta, California. Bianco previously told ESPN that Sperbeck had been standing on the back of the golf cart before he fell.

Cal Fire on Monday released heavily redacted audio of Elway's call to 911, but the call provided no further details.

The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau determined Sperbeck's death was caused by blunt force trauma and that it was an accident.

"I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck," Elway said in a statement after Sperbeck's death. "There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.

"My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff's wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him. Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others."

Elway won two Super Bowls during a 16-year NFL career, all with the Denver Broncos. He later served as Broncos general manager and executive vice president and then transitioned to a consultant role until his contract expired in March 2023.

Sperbeck began managing Elway in 1990. He represented more than 100 NFL players during a three-decade career as an agent and business adviser.

Sperbeck helped manage Elway's extensive off-field business empire, which included restaurants, car dealerships and a winery; the two collaborated with winemaker Rob Mondavi Jr. in 2015 to co-found 7Cellars by John Elway.

Sperbeck also co-founded Sullivan & Sperbeck, a sports marketing firm that was acquired by Octagon in 2001. It's because the majority of carts have those backwards facing seats that nobody likes sitting in because you can't see where you're going. So rather than sitting backwards and getting the beginning stages of motion sickness, people just stand on the back facing forward and hold on best they can. People do that no matter if they're sober or drinking... but I believe it is almost mandatory to drink while golfing for 95% of people.

I recently bought myself a cart that has 4 seats that all face forward. That advancement/upgrade is one of the reasons I finally pulled the trigger to buy one. I don't play golf... I got mine for cruising the neighborhood and on the beach. Here in Florida you can get certain carts licensed as low speed vehicles and get a license plate making them legal to drive on most streets.

Certainly true. Every time I had to golf during my career it was because I was dragged there for functions. I'd bring a large cooler of bud light, buy a bag of range balls, rent the clubs, and wouldn't bother keeping count of strokes. When I shank a ball, drop another one.

Honestly I detest golf. But I do like being outside on a beautiful day and drinking.
