Don't understand why they would? They've got two years of him under contract at a great cap hit, relatively speaking, at $30 mil a year. That's a bargain these days. He'll still only be 30 at the end and if he takes them to the promise land then they'd have no qualms giving him a stupid contract at that point. If Lions are smart they see how 2023 goes and then maybe start talking if they think they want him another 5 years.
Goff is once again leading one of the best offenses in the league, and once again doing it after starting with an O from ground zero nowhere.

Yes, he’s a big time bargain for the Lions. Not even even counting the No. 6 pick.

You can keep repeating that he has no leverage, but the Ravens' conduct proves otherwise. It is indeed a strange hill to die on claiming that Lamar has no leverage when the Ravens continue to make strong offers and try to acquire players Lamar wants. It's almost as if Lamar *gasp* has leverage.
$200m guaranteed worth of leverage if reports are accurate.

If so he’s also a complete fool to turn it down. One bad injury and he could be out of the league.

So...we won the f-ing SB because of that trade.
Predictably, we are paying for it now and the Lions are cashing in.
When it comes to the "last Laugh," if Goff leads them to a SB victory I will eat my hat.
Hopefully it’s straw - I honestly like watching the development of players. Goff got The Rams to the Superbowl.
The Rams in 2021 were a lot better in 2020,who knows what would have happened with an extra first round pick as well.
2023 is going to be interesting,I’ve seen some of the younger players & think Kendrick is a talented player. Durant has a nose for the ball.

Honestly, if I'm Detroit I get one of these guys (QBs) this year. I don't feel they will be picking top 10 anytime soon. Regardless of if Goff is solid enough to get them to playoffs, they are going to have to pay him a huge extension shortly. I'd get a young, cheap, potentially elite QB in there and ride Goff this year, and get something for trading him next year.
Problem for them is they're picking at 6 which might be outside that group. It's not like these guys at the top of the QB class are amazing or anything, btw. It's a mediocre top group IMO. But teams need QBs badly. There's a ton of non-optimal QB situations so the supply and demand is gonna drive these guys to go real high.

I mean Arizona. How do they pass on QB. Same with Houston. Indy needs a QB. We know Carolina is going QB 1 overall with Young it seems. Even if Arizona or Houston trade out QB will probably go in those slots, or has a high chance to.

So idk. Detroit seems to be outside the action at 6. If they were at 3 then yeah I'd think they're gonna go QB. But at 6 maybe they go get a top defensive dude instead. But I agree that if I'm Detroit and see a QB at any point in that draft that I like I would take him. Even up top. I don't trust Goff, don't believe in him at all. I think if they build around Goff they're probably gonna come up short.

Goff is 28, a legitimate starting QB and arguably playing at top 10 QB level. Detroit needs a backup QB but they don’t need a starting QB.
Exactly. Detroit needs more defensive playmakers. Though the D played well the second half it was still statistically one of the worst in the league. They can take one of the top d edges, d-line, or cb with pick 6. That’s the clear path forward.

Drafting another QB to maybe start in three years would be a luxury pick that might short circuit the defensive rebuild and their ability to win now.

Goff did not get the Rams to the Super Bowl he went along for the ride and could not carry the team when they needed him to step up.

Yep, those 54 rushing yards in the nfc championship game at 2.7 yards a pop really allowed Goff to take it easy in that game and enjoy the ride.

You can say what you want about Jared Goff. When it comes down to it we’ll see who gets the Last Laugh?

The Lions IMO are a lot better to The Rams, especially after they draft a couple more key players.
The Rams #6 is worth something? The Lions draft pick is(guessing) # 18 ?
The Rams won a Super Bowl because of the trade. If the Lions do the same we can laugh together.

I agree Goff did not step up in the first half of that game. He was definitely overwhelmed in the first half by the size of the game.

But the second half, he played well and almost won us the game except for 2 dropped passes (although one could have been thrown a little better - the other was due to pass interference but I have still seen players make one arm catches before)

Says you. If nothing else he was better than most. His prime is Now. He was a inexpensive QB which if nothing else helped.

I was always a Case Keenum & Nick Foles guy would have rolled with those 2 QB’s in 2016.
WOW - thank you Jeff Fisher(HardKnocks) IN YOUR FACE!! Thinking back in was right after he was cut by The —

Memory goes back to Wentz having the better rookie season.
Then in 2017 Foles beat Keenum in the NFC Championship game & Nick Foles won it.

I’ll take the 4 first rd. Pick plus back please. The Rams in 2021 could have had ??? I know even with Jared Goff could have had the $250 plus million dollar man & maybe Cam Akers as well.
Then maybe even a first rd pick for Jared Goff, but that’s cherry picking. I WAS a HURTS believer, but not to where he is today.
BTW - The Rams had how many HOF players in 2021 on the roster ?

Dude Kupp or Woods ?
Cooks or OBJ ?

Just another simple concept The Ref’s don’t pick up the flag on Nick Scott? The Ref’s pick up the flag on John Sullivan’s Fanthom call.
—Funny Biggest rookie contract EVER!! To think #2 SUH is still playing. Stafford is so Old he was even before that.

- still want A’Robinson back & K” Mack is my sleeper signing, just to stick with the post.

I’d say The Rams won The Superbowl because of Eric Weedle. To think the PAIN he was playing with & had to stay in the game because he was calling the Defensive Plays. - Nick Scott was mentored by Eric Weedle .

Darrell Henderson made a huge 3rd down catch. There is a lot of reasons. Matt Gay was pretty awesome as well. Greg the Leg was NEVER as accurate.
—we can go on,but yeah we can LOL now. I’m not picking sides. If I had to 2021 Rams Super Bowl Victory is in The Books.

I was at OTA’s thanks Kevin & Stan. I have photos of all The Rams getting together in Front of The Rams Fans for the first time at SOFI.
amazing how it all came together. The Brown Bro’s will need to step up this year.

A lot of Rams were playing on fumes by season’s end. I honestly don’t think they could have won another game if they had to keep playing. They were an extremely talented group for sure; however, by postseason there are several talented teams in various states of health competing. The Rams showed a ton of heart and determination. Several role players stepped up and played their best ball as a Ram. Blanton and Hopkins come to mind.

Welcome to my original point
Good grief.
Baltimore screwed the pooch here. They have all the leverage in the world, if they want to play hardball.
If their only intention was to re-sign the guy, they should have just hit him with the exclusive and started working out the contract months ago

They dont get to the Superbowl without Goff, did you watch the NFC Championship game by chance? Down 13-0 on the road? Gurley AWOL? Down 3 with 1:41 left in the game, who drove them the length of the field to tie the game, and ultimately win it in OT?

An entire roster and coaching staff didn't step up.

I wasn’t a big believer in Goff towards the end. But in 2017/2018 he played well despite a bad interior Oline.

I think he became a bit shell shocked as McVay continued to expand the playbook and expect more of him. Then the big contract, the hot girlfriend, and the mansion happen and he checked out a bit. In otherwords he handled success poorly, which was a case of immaturity.

He seems to have learned from his experience. He works well in a regular offense that isn’t McVay level complex. Even Aaron Rodgers said that this offense isn’t the West Coast offense. It puts a lot on a QB.

If I’m Detroit, I don’t move up for any of this years QBs. Maybe Levis falls to them. I think they will pass if that’s the case. They need defenders. Maybe they trade back.

Well if the Lions like any QB (outside of Young) then they most certainly have the ammo to go up and get him. I think they are more of a Stroud team personally. They will likely want a QB that doesn't need too much developing to step up as they (in this scenario aren't resigning Goff) will need him to play soon.

Would Houston even trade with a division rival (INDY) particularly for a QB? I could also see Seattle making a run at that pick too, as they too aren't expected to be picking that highly any time soon. I think with Seattle, Richardson would be in the mix also. 2 years behind Geno and Richardson could be a thorn in our side for the next 10 years.

If they really want a future blue-chip QB, then they really should try to make a trade by trading back in return of a #1 next yr. The Eagles did that the last 2 yrs and made out well. Better QB class next yr... I am not really in love with any of these top QBs.

I think the guy to get this year is Levis. He checks all the blocks in terms of physical ability and size, but also speaks fluent WCO thanks to Coen. He's almost surely the guy at 4 for Indianapolis unless someone swoops ahead of them to get him, which is possible.

Stroud is immensely talented but seems like he runs hot and cold. I don't know that I'd want to risk my job and future on that kid. Levis is much more of a try-hard but he has the talent you want and seems more likely to be a guy who works his ass off over his first three years. Coen has talked extensively about him in that regard and I trust Liam's eye for that stuff.

For Detroit it's not an advantage that Levis speaks WCO since they use the more efficient jargon of the EHP. But his early exposure in college to making NFL reads and checks at the LOS are gonna help him adjust to the pro game. He's not gonna be the rookie QB who is struggling to get the offense out of the huddle with their heads all in one direction.

For me, they have a chance at Richardson this year, who knows where the pick they acquire will end up. As far as projections go, the 2 franchise guys in next years class are likely to go 1st and 2nd in the draft, with almost no chance to trade up and get them. Richardson could be the top weapon in the NFL in a few years, thats the kind of gamble I'd take as one of the better teams who don't expect to be picking high again soon.
