With the 12th pick in the 2022 ROD NFL Mock Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington.

The Vikings were desperately hoping that Sauce Gardner fell here but had confidence in all 3 top corners and were happy to wait for whichever was available at 12. I didn't really consider any other position here because of the Vikings chronic CB need... which is wild considering how many first round picks they have spent in the last few years.

The Vikings drafted Jeff Gladney in the first round in 2020, Mike Hughes in thw first round in 2018 and Trae Waynes in the first round in 2015. For their sake, I hope I am a better scout than their old GM!

McDuffie is undersized but he is a plus tackler, is sticky and athletic and embodies the type of competitive toughness that a "rebuilding" team like the Vikes need.

— Good body control for his size. Can sink when he has to break on his routes and can bend enough to win leverage against DBs.

— Good overall route-runner who understands how to tempo his routes to keep CBs off balance. Able to stay tight at the top of his routes, which is even more impressive given his size.

— Very good hands with excellent catching range. Is comfortable extending away from his body to haul in throws. Makes his big frame even bigger by snatching throws in traffic.

— Not overly shifty but can create yards after the catch because of balance and body strength. Smaller defenders bounce off of him.

— Has burst with the ball in his hands that shows he’s viable on screens and underneath throws. Can get north in a hurry.

— Understands when to settle in soft spots versus zone coverages and stay friendly to the QB on his routes.

— Has the flair for the spectacular catch.

— Willing blocker who will attempt to find work down the field for his teammates.

With the 17'th Pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the San D, er, ... Los Angeles Chargers take the biggest fast man out of Georgia, DT JORDAN DAVIS. Playing next to the newly acquired Sebastian Joseph-Day from the Rams, the Chargers under Staley have now fixed their biggest unit problem, the interior defensive line, from the previous season.

Jordan Davis :
Following a successful four-year career in Athens, Georgia, Davis produced one of the most impressive NFL Combine performances in recent memory. Putting his size and strength to the test, Davis also answered questions regarding his quickness with a 4.78-second 40-yard dash. Davis could go anywhere from inside the top 10 to the middle portion of the first round.

• Immense size (6'6", 341lbs.) to eat up holes and bust his way through the line of scrimmage
• Pure power to move defenders
• Sheds blocks to get after ball-carriers
