Thought one of the best signings / moves made the past couple days was Tampa adding DB Logan Ryan less than 24 hours after the Giants released him for cap relief. Live in NYC, and the former-Patriot was a consistent positive for a lousy Giants' team the past two seasons.

Remember the two long TDs the Rams had against the Bucs' defense this season? The long one to Desean Jackson in late September, and the 70-yarder to Kupp in the Divisional Round game. Those two plays probably do not happen if Logan Ryan is at safety. It was Edwards in the Playoff-game. Not sure if it was Edwards or Whitehead (signed with the Jets) in the Regular Season game.

Tampa is going to be really good next year; and, in a relatively weak division, could be the #1 seed.

For the record, I don't think it's necessary we have to find a big name guy to fill Von's spot.

Don't forget we were the no.1 defense in 2020 with Floyd on the edge and a rotating cast at on the other side opposite him. Justin Hollins and Terrell Lewis, for example, are two guys that can fill that spot just fine if their number is called.

I didn't see enough consistent pressure before Von Miller was signed. They had sacks but, also let up a lot of easy passing yards. I like Floyd but AD needs a little more help.

I have had very high hopes for T Lew but, his health is still a big question mark. Will Chris Garrett be ready to step up in year two? The potential is there but, we don't know when or if he will be able to produce consistently. Holland is a quality part-timer that can fill in at both ILBer and OLBer but, isn't a pass rush difference-maker.

They may go for a high-level CB over a top-level Edge but, they need one or the other to keep the defense up near the top.

Run defense was weak opposite Floyd. The Niners abused the Rams on that side of the field.

That was the big difference I saw when we added Von. He provided the rush obviously- but was great in run defense and setting the edge…staying there. Something missing big time before Von was added. That’s something that will need to addressed sans Von in 2022+.

I didn't think it matter where they ran inside or outside. The Rams couldn't stop their run game until the championship game.

Who were they abusing? Hollins? T-Lew?

Ideas for Edge?

I think the biggest gains came over their Trent Williams side. They stack blocks with receivers and Tight Ends. They mowed right through the second level.

Von and eventually Jones helped slow that down. Hunter would be a good addition in this regard.

Hollins was injured most of the year. So Obo and Lewis mostly I guess plus corners and safeties.

I still think Garrett can be a very disruptive pass rush specialist.

At every chance in the preseason, dude balled out, period. Wasn't against ones, but as a rookie, he WRECKED the LT opposite him... so much so the entire 1st string D was going crazy on the sideline.

I think even if we have to go with what we have, we'll figure it out. It may not be as dominant, but if we're more efficient on offense early, we'll be back to playing with leads and I would expect our D to be better statistically.
