I did a quick pass of the Spotrac Salary Cap site which is still not fully updated for the Rams. It still has them $5M Over the cap but it does not reflect the Aaron Donald restructuring.

It does appear to have the Floyd contract and the new/additional Dead-$ for the Goff bonus the Rams paid on Wednesday.

If accurate, but for the Donald restructure, the Rams may have the space for one significant signing

This is a follow up to the above comment on the state-of-the-Rams Salary Cap.

Spotrac has not updated and still has the Rams as $5M OVER the cap but it does NOT reflect an Aaron Donald restructure. Donald is listed with a 2021 cap hit of almost $28M.

Over-the-Cap, which previously lacked several restructures, has now updated, including a revised Aaron Donald amount. His 2021 cap hit is now reflected at $14M (all these numbers are rounded to the nearest million).

Simple math ... if the Rams were $5M OVER; and Donald’s restructure created $14M of cap relief (28 down to 14), that would put the Rams at $9M UNDER the cap.

The Over-the-Cap site has the Rams at $10M UNDER right now.

Everything should be viewed with some hesitancy, as information is fluid and slow to come our. There’s also an article from Cameron DaSilva that references a source which puts the Rams at $16M under at the moment but that source can not be accessed for detail like Spotrac and Over-the-Cap.

The Official NFLPA one as of today listed us at 17.2 mil roughly.

Ertz entering his 9th year in the league, going to be 31 in November, missed a big chunk of games last year and only had 36 catch in 72 targets.

I wouldn’t consider that a big splashy signing and definitely would not give much in a trade for him.

  • Cardinals general manager Steve Keim said A.J. Green has "a lot left in the tank."
Obviously Keim hasn't drafted Green in fantasy leagues over the past three seasons. "Runs great routes, really strong in traffic," Keim said of Green, who last week signed a one-year, $8 million contract with Arizona. "I think he was the third-best receiver in the NFL this past year with catching balls in traffic, and really strong hands, still has the vertical speed, runs crisp routes." It's true: Only DeVante Parker and Allen Robinson had more contested catches than Green in 2020. But when an aged receiver can no longer separate from coverage, he's going to see a bunch of chances to grab contested balls. Indeed, Green had the second most contested targets in 2020, appearing either slow or disinterested through much of the season. He averaged a meager 1.7 yards of separation per target, tied for worst among all receivers. Green's 2021 fantasy floor and ceiling are awfully close to each other.

Please no to Ertz. Think the dude has lost a LOT in the tank. Can't stay healthy and looked considerably less athletic last season. Really hoping to hear a Dunlap signing, however, I'm not sure he's a great fit in our 3-4 D. He's seen more as a 4-3 DE. That said, its looking more and more like he might just resign with the hags, so any prevention of that would be fantastic. They were an absolutely different defense when he was acquired last season.

Has Jadeveon Clowney signed yet? Did I miss that one? If not what's the deal, was he injured last season with the Titans?

Ertz is only signed for one year and it’s over an $8 million cap hit.

How about someone like Avery Williamson to bolster the ILB corp?

I don 't believe the Rams would spring for that type of money at ILB, although I do think we will see a free agent brought in at the position, but likely after the draft. jmo.

If you sign a Clowney and have to assign blockers to Floyd AD and Clowney doubles etc...yes would it be nice to have a Kwon Alexander but just that additional pressure guy and run sealer and our inside backers will be untouched most times. It's really one way to improve the defense with one single move..and blitz packages from the middle even if a team can account for those 3 would be amazing. That where a Kwon would look great but young reeder and kiser are all ok there. Or if you move Clowney around put him on the line at olb ...on the line then put Lewis obo or another dude. There are so many toys to play with. One move it doesn't have to be Clowney but his athleticism his relative youth and hopefully chip on his shoulder make it the perfect storm.

And Fitz hasn't retired yet. I'm not afraid much of AJ Green anymore but he's still respectable.

And from what I recall Steve Keim has a lot of empty bottles lying around his office, his house, his garage. Maybe he was throwing some down while watching AJ Green film from the last two seasons

Green had a terrible year last year and got supplanted by Tee Higgins, an up and coming rookie. Burrows tried to involve Green plenty but he did nothing. I only know this because AJ Green was on my fantasy team and sucked ass. I think he's just a big name at the moment and nothing more.
