OK, we've already heard what I believe are some unrealistic trade options for our team, and we'd all like to either increase our CAP availability, increase our number of draft picks, or both. Besides the name-brand guys like Fowler, Littleton, Brockers & Whitworth likely being lost to free agency or retirement, who would you be willing to sacrifice next year in order to bring more numbers & flexibility to the upcoming draft ?

Early this previous off-season I floated the name of Josh Reynolds as he is slated to become a 2021 free agent, that pretty much rose like a lead balloon, now I believe he'll play out his contract as we have fewer options. Nsimba Webster is likely to take the 5'th WR slot in place of the probably departing Mike Thomas as he hits free agency.

I've mentioned Havenstein as trade bait for 2020 earlier as he continued to play poorly, but it seems doubtful we would allow both Whitworth & Hav to depart simultaneously. My preference would be to keep Whitworth for one final season and trade Havenstein if we can acquire proper value. Both Evans & Brewer have had good moments filling in, and with a strong off/pre-season program could make them viable replacements. I'd also add Noteboom as a competitor here once he returns from injury should Whitworth be retained for another season. I would also name a 4'th potential player or reservist as I can't see getting through the 2020 draft without another OT being brought in fairly early in that draft.

My surprise trade bait ? Gerald Everett. Tyler Higbee has really stepped up his game, he's also pulling down some major CAP beginning in 2020 as his pay raise kicks in. Everett is among that group of 2021 potential future free agents with Ramsey, Kupp and John Johnson, and removing Everett from this money grab makes it easier to sign the other three. The Rams are not likely to use 12 personnel much more than we do now, not with our superior WR unit, so it really comes down to what McVay thinks of Mundt & Blanton moving forward.

Next on the list, Robey-Coleman & Troy Hill, both decent but inconsistent players. Like OT's Whitworth & Havenstein, we aren't likely to trade 2 almost starting CB's in the same time frame, although the two of them have substantial CAP hits, and we appear to have some potentially reasonable depth behind them. Robey-Coleman carries a $4.5mil. dollar CAP and has no dead money cost if traded, so he would be my first choice to move at this position.

So there you have it, my choice of 3 players that are up for trade and could garner anything between a 6'th & 3'rd rounder each. Who else, if anyone, do you guys have under consideration ?

Tag & trade Fowler.... 3 pass rushers were tagged and traded last year. No reason he can't be traded to a cap rich team.

Hard to find good pass rushers though.

I'm thinking we try to move Cooks, his production has dropped off significantly and we don't really need him, we have a great WR and TE core without him.

It sucks, I've actually had some personal conversations with Cooks and hes a helluva nice guy and a competitor. But I fear his days are numbered here. Hope I'm wrong because hes a great leader and guy to have in the locker room.

I can't see it for 2020, the dead money is too great in a year we are already near the CAP wall. We also don't have the draft picks to be looking at available top WR's this off-season, not with so many other needs. We fix the OL, Cooks will get more targets. 2021 seems more likely if we are going to bail on Cooks. jmo.

Nice thread. I agree Everett is a possibility, however depth does matter and they have a ton of needs.

Guy I am certain will be moved if teams are interested is NRC. He is still a good nickel cover guy, just a bit of a luxury for the Rams' cap situation when you can find nickel backs and I believe they have one in house in Long.

Hill is possible but with the Rams looking at a lot of needs without a lot of draft capital I feel like he'll stick on the roster. And that's even though I don't think as much of him as many here do. But his cap hit is manageable (outside the hashes corner) and he's played well so they basically have bigger fish to fry.

Cooks & Gurley are almost surely kept around. The Rams would take a hit cutting or moving either, so only way either are of them aren't on this team is if they feel they're a distraction or negative factor in the locker room. So those two will bear watching and if either happens will tell us something.

Another likely player to be traded is Havenstein. IF the Rams go after Scherff for example--which I think is likely--he is suddenly overpaid depth. And sadly I am a big fan of Havenstein, think he's a hard worker who is going to bounce back. But I mean it's just an obvious spot to trim cost due to his play this year.

I think players like Everett Reynolds are players that will garner the most interest .. possibly ebukam who although he is a solid yet inconsistent player

Cooks and Gurley are talented but the cap is far too High and had disappointing seasons no one I don’t think teams will take their contracts for the production delivered

Hav is despite his poor play this year is still one of our better lineman he stays especially with the questions marks across the rest of the line

It’ll be an interesting off season for sure

In my mock, I do just that, trading Havenstein and a 2021 5'th round pick for a 2020 3'rd.

What does Gerald Everett's future with the Rams look like?

Gerald Everett’s breakout with the Rams may never come.
For a tight end with so much potential and such high expectations among fans and media members, he may not have much of a future in Los Angeles after yet another disappointing season and the emergence of Tyler Higbee as the No. 1 tight end on the depth chart.

Everett missed three games with a knee injury, and in his return on Saturday night, he played just four measly snaps. He was targeted once and didn’t have a single catch, proving to be a non-factor in a must-win game for the Rams.
In the three games Everett missed – and on Saturday night, too – Higbee caught at least seven passes for 100-plus yards each week. He’s proved to be the Rams’ best tight end this season, becoming the first tight end in NFL history to catch at least seven passes for 100 yards in four straight games.
Everett has only one year left on his contract, becoming a free agent in 2021 if the Rams don’t sign him to an extension. Los Angeles already gave Higbee a new deal worth $7.25 million per year, which runs through the 2023 season.
The Rams clearly see him as a No. 1 tight end, and they’ve been using him as such in recent weeks.
So where does that leave Everett? Most likely, he’ll be back on the team for one more year in 2020, but even that’s not a certainty. He’s a tight end with a ton of potential as a receiver, which isn’t easy to find in the NFL.
It’s possible that the Rams could shop him this offseason in an attempt to recoup some of the picks they traded away to acquire players such as Jalen Ramsey, Austin Corbett and Dante Fowler Jr. In those trades alone, the Rams gave up a first-rounder (Ramsey) and fifth-rounder (Fowler) in 2020, as well as first-, fourth- and fifth-round picks in 2021.
Everett only has one year left on his contract and was a second-round pick in 2017, so the Rams aren’t going to fetch anything more than a third-round pick for him. But if they can get a fourth-rounder, should they consider it?
After reportedly seeking a sixth-round pick for Higbee last year, it’s possible the Rams would take a fourth for Everett. With Higbee paid and Johnny Mundt (a free agent in 2020, but a cheap re-sign) doing an excellent job as the No. 2 tight end dominating as a blocker, Everett’s role may not be very large next season.
The Rams already prefer not to take wideouts off the field in favor of tight ends, so with Higbee being the top option, Everett could have a hard time finding snaps next year. Trading him for a mid-round pick is not out of the question, especially with the Rams missing the playoffs and needing draft picks after wheeling and dealing the last two years.

The idea of trading them is to increase draft picks not give them away ;) ... it’s be redundant to trade them take the cap hit maybe gain a second (possibly a 1st in Gurley case ) but give away 2nd or third round picks ... no one is going to take a 5th 6th 7th in compensation for that salary

Everett would certainly garner some trade interest... but I don’t know... this guy is so athletic, insanely strong hands, and runs with anger.

I really want to see more, HERE.

I know that this isn't going to be popular...but I'd trade Woods for a mid-to-late first. I think he's our best trade chip, and that Reynolds - while he wouldn't completely replace Woods' production - could fill in admirably, along with, say, another drafted wide receiver. I know I'll get backlash - and deservedly so - but Woods' contract is easier to move than Cooks', hence Woods being a better trade chip.

Fowler in a tag-and-trade would also net us a high pick. I'm actually thinking of Baltimore as an option for him.

Me three dude.
Everett has some serious natural gifts and is exciting with the ball in his hands... and the Rams have historically made TE seem like a super hard position to learn and settle into, I mean, how long it took Higbee to go off? (like an H-bomb)
Annnd..... it's hard to imagine McVay, the famed Redskins TE's coach, giving up on the first player he drafted to the Rams.
On the flip, where are those potential Everett targets going to come from? At who's expense?
I mean, is it a coincidence that the same time Kupp isnt making himself felt is the exact same time Higbee finally does?
I realize there is more to it than that,.... and you can never have too many playmakers. -- unless you don't have an O-line that's good enough to feature those playmakers. Then you do whatever you have to.
I would trade Higbee, Everett, and Mundt right now straight up for a top 5 O-line in 2020 with who knows what at TE.
I have wasted enough Sundays cheering on bad Rams teams with worse O-lines.

What% of Higbees recent success is on Higbees stellar play vs Rams finally finally finally using TE as a viable receiver option?

Are the Rams going to pay two TEs at high levels, while also having multiple very good WRs?

It's not a case of not valuing Everett, but a case of adjusting the roster to allow depth elsewhere too. And it might not be a trade for picks, but for a player that fills a hole elsewhere What about a trade for an inexpensive but decent LG, for instance?

not sure what your point is but mine was that if we can trade them we save the cap hit. most teams probably won't trade for them because of the cap hit and all have other concerns. gurleys knee cooks concussions and havenstiens being replaced already. just thinking that might have to throw in a pick to make the deal. because of the cap relief we could probably keep all the other players we would have to cut plus have money for ramsey

Their prorated bonus money accelerates into next years cap if traded or cut. The Rams lose a ton of cap space if that happens this year...2020..

They are cuttable after next season where between the two you can save about 13M in cap space.

So I can't see them being moved this year. Maybe a restructure/ pay cut... But nothing more.
