We say that now. But this time next year Littleton's deal could've been the reason we lost Ramsey or Kupp or Johnson. So it may be necessary.

Great point. I would prioritize keeping those three over Littleton, and it's not even close. Ramsey is an obvious re-sign given what we gave up for him, and Kupp is an elite WR who we must keep in house. I don't know if I'd say Johnson is elite, but he's pretty damn good.

If it translates into a bolstered OL I'll be fine with it. But it doesn't even look like that's happening either.

Apparently not. Losing a homegrown Ram star makes me feel for the first time Snead hasn’t managed things well....
But you can't look at these things in a vacuum. There is an overall approach. If you just look at one guy, and say, how did we let him go, without taking into consideration everything else, then it is just emotional reaction. You could literally do that with every player that leaves.

It took you this long to realize that?

Do you mean like the absurd contracts for Gurley and Cooks kept us from resigning Littleton?

That's what I call hindsight bias lol neither of those contracts were considered bad at the time. Gurley was offensive player of the year when he got that deal. Cooks got his deal after 4 straight 1000 yard seasons. And then he had 1200 for us after signing the deal. If not for injuries and concussions no one is talking about those deals.

Littleton to Raiders

Less than I expected, but I still think it's the right move to let him walk. He's not enough of an impact player to be worth over $10 million per year.

About the Littleton signing with the Raiders...

The ultimate numbers were much less than most had expected, however, I suspect that Staley didn’t consider Littleton a ‘must have’ for his new D schemes. And Littleton’s run D wasn’t exactly stellar, either.

The 2nd question I have is simply what comp pick will Littleton’s contract fetch?

Rams really don't value ilb at all lol
I believe the Rams just don't like his contact-shyness at that cost. Which is a good call. The media is all over his nuts but most of them aren't really aware of his shortcomings in the run game.

Lock up the Donalds, the Ramseys, etc. You gotta save the big bucks for the guys with complete game IMO.

Maybe a third. The comp picks are awarded based on a combination of players signed and players lost who count toward the compensation formula, so you don’t know until next year about this time.

Nothing is certain & it can certainly vary but Saffold's $11 mil got Snead a 3rd CDPA. If Snead signs his own UFA's & is unhurried & patient while Tier 1 & 2 pass & waits till Tier 3 level of FA'cy the result should be the same in 2021.

Yeah. He's very good in coverage against TEs, a good blitzer, and a great special teamer, but he's a janitor in the running game.

Littleton to Raiders 3 years $36M

Far cry from $15 Mil estimates.

I've been over keeping CL for a while now with other signing needs and his run deficiencies. I just hope the Rams can find an ISLBer that can play the pass and run.

Maybe for you. I didn’t like either contract when they signed them. That was an absurd amount for Gurley, way above what running backs were getting. Plus he had a torn ligament in college. I thought it was dumb.

Then Cooks gets a huge deal. You give that kind of deal to a true top receiver. The Rams has two better receivers on the roster. Plus he’s small and tries to be too physical for his size. Hated them.

No recency bias with me. And I’ve been critical of Snead for the last two years. You must have me on ignore or something.
