With the 104th pick in the draft the Buffalo Bills select Genard Avery, LB Memphis
2yHLwfoN.jpg

Avery worked with former NFL All-Pro defensive lineman before his senior season; his coaches and NFL scouts noticed the improvement in his game. He started all 13 games for the Tigers in 2017, garnering first-team All-American Athletic Conference honors with 80 tackles, 22 for loss (which ranked in the top ten of the FBS), 8.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. He started all 13 games as a junior, as well, leading his team with 11 tackles for loss (81 total) and five sacks, while forcing two fumbles and returning both of his interceptions for touchdowns. Avery started seven of 11 games played in 2015, making 53 tackles, 6.5 for loss, and three sacks. The all-state high school football player from Mississippi actually led Memphis with five sacks as a true freshman, playing in all 13 games with one start.

Overview
Avery is a big, athletic linebacker with a history of production whether he's playing inside or outside linebacker. While he's a little tight-hipped, his movement in the open field is generally unencumbered. Avery offers versatility and teams may choose to build on some of the rush talent he showed this season, but his best spot appears to be as a 4-3 strong-side linebacker with plus special teams ability.

I know he was kind of a reach here but I like his upside ALOT. I dug deep on this guy and saw things I really really liked. I think hes a big time sleeper and was willing to gamble in the 4th round.

I was going to go in a different direction but you guys made some very interesting picks and imo some big reaches. I'm gonna go with a guy that Lance Zeirlein rates as a late 2nd early 3rd round pick that's been passed up.

With the 5th pick in the 4th round #105 overall. The Chicago Bears select:

Joseph Notebloom OT TCU

They seem to be happy with Charles Leno at LT for now but they're IMO in for a rude awakening if they are going to rely on Bobby Massie at RT. Notebloom needs some refinements but has the ability to start at either spot IMO with the right coaching. He'll probably get camp and half a season before they tire of Massie. With this pick the Bears continue to surround Trubisky with talent.

This is what happens when you have very few picks and a lack of firepower to move up, ... twice now i've been beaten to the punch just within what I thought might fall to me. Nice pick-up.

I sat there without a 3rd round pick wondering if I was going to trade up for a couple of the guys I had 2nd/early 3rd round grades on that have fallen and there are 3 of them left. Just hope one makes it a few more picks to my 2nd 4th round pick.

HEIGHT - 6' 6"
WEIGHT - 318 lbs

Christian focused on basketball in high school (he attended three of them) except for his freshman and junior years, where he flashed potential on the gridiron. He decommitted from Miami to head to Louisville, where his brother, Gerald, was a tight end in 2013-2014. In his first season with the Cardinals, Christian started every game at left tackle, receiving honorable mention All-ACC recognition. He followed that effort with a third-team All-ACC season at left tackle as a sophomore, where he started to get stronger in order to use the excellent length and athleticism that helped him as a basketball player. Christian started all 13 games at left tackle in 2017, receiving honorable mention all-conference notice from ACC coaches.

The Rams have now acquired OC/OG Ryan Groy by way of trade,
Edge Rusher Jeff Holland in the 3'rd round, and
OT/OG - Geron Christian in the 4'th round.

With two new offensive linemen tied up, i'll once again announce the availability of 25 year old veteran OG Jamon Brown, ... for trade.

I think the tackles we just took are gone a round earlier in the real draft. But I'll take those steals now :)
