With the 220th pick of the ROD draft the New Orleans Saints select:

C6kOfjkWgAAyUBk.jpg

Brian Hill, RB, Wyoming

Brian Hill from Wyoming is a big, running back who can shoulder a heavy load. In 2016 he carried the ball 349 times for 1,860 yards, (ranked third in the FBS) 5.3-yard average, and 22 touchdowns (fourth) in 14 games on his way to first-team All-Mountain West honors. He added eight catches for 67 yards out of the backfield.

Hill has been productive, albeit against lesser competition but has compiled nearly 3500 yards in his last two seasons at Wyoming. He has good vision and will make the correct call in picking the hole and following his blockers.

He possesses nice cutback moves but doesn’t run with enough power for a man his size. He also needs work in pass protection. He has good hands but was rarely used in the passing game.

Pros:
– Excellent production in his final two years
– Works well between the tackles
– Has some nice moves to make tacklers miss
– Good hands although not used much in the passing game

Cons
– Not explosive and needs more strength
– Not a breakaway threat
– Pass protection needs work

What his Role Will Be:
Hill’s role will be as the Saints big, physical, move-the-pile back. He’d take over the Ingram role, especially as short yardage, goal line back.

Love this guy too. I had him #2 behind Williams when I picked. If Williams was gone I would have snagged this guy. Hes physical. Big time sleeper. I think he has 3rd-4th round talent.

Sorry guys, I'm trying to do this and ramrod our Easter party at the same time. Neither one is going smoothly. Apparently I'm the the only one who can open a bottle of champagne without breaking off the cork inside the neck of the bottle.
You guys only have half my attention right now. They're all getting pretty drunk so I'll ditch them (partially) shortly.

An incredible steal at this point! Great pick

I really only have 2 picks left. Hopefully in these next couple picks, someone doesn't take one of those 2.

Player Overview
I’m surprised Jordan Evans isn’t being talked about more at this point in the draft season. I’m doubly surprised that he wasn’t extended a Combine invitation after an excellent senior season. The Combine definitely doesn’t ensure or necessarily help a player to be drafted and those not invited aren’t doomed to not making it in the NFL. It would have been nice though to see Evans test against the bigger names this year. Evans is a physical linebacker with good athleticism and instincts. He has the vision and speed to read a play and shoot through a gap to make a stop but he also has dramatically improved his coverage skills over the past year as well. Evans is proficient in this area and had made several interceptions and pass break ups this year just from reading the QB’s eyes and staying disciplined in his zone. Evans is going to present real value at the inside linebacker position in the mid to late rounds.

With the 222nd, and their final pick, of the 2017 ROD Draft, the New Orleans Saints select:

Cooper1.jpg

Ethan Cooper, OG/OT, Indiana.

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 322
40 Yrd Dash: 5.36
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 26
Vertical Jump: 24 1/2
Broad Jump: 08'03"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.88
3-Cone Drill: 8.02

Jahri Evans’ contract is up, and he’s turning 34 this year, anyway. The Saints will need to find a starting-caliber guard to pair with Andrus Peat, and in this scenario, they get lucky by finding one in the 7th. While Cooper has potential, his competition at the Division II level may cause some growing pains in his rookie season. Of course, the same was said on offensive lineman Jahri Evans, who came out of fellow PSAC school Bloomsburg before earning four First Team All-Pro selections.

Cooper has displayed solid lateral quickness with improving footwork since his freshman year at IUP. He's shown versatility on the offensive line, having played left guard in 2015 before switching over to right tackle in 2016.

He'd be used as a swing interior lineman and possibly swing RT for a season, eventually replacing the ageing Evans.

Poor grades and a poor physique cost Cooper scholarship offers coming out of high school. But his work ethic changed during his early college days, resulting in some legitimate NFL interest. He played in six games at guard as a true freshman, starting three of the last four contests of the year. Cooper started all 11 games inside as a sophomore, earning second-team All-Pennsylvania Scholastic Athletic Conference West Division honors. He was an All-American and first-team All-PSAC West as a junior starter at left guard in 2015 and then right tackle in 2016.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS

Big NFL-caliber frame. Thick from his calves to his shoulders. Has experience at both tackle and guard. Possesses good upper body power. Lateral quickness is adequate. Runs his feet through contact looking to turn opponent out of the hole. Plays with decent feet in space. Shows ability to adjust to moving targets on second level. Has desired body control and balance for his size. Scouts say he has good football intelligence with an understanding of defensive concepts.

WEAKNESSES
Needs to work to keep pad level lower. Lack of bend and a little bit of a narrow base prevent him from getting as much drive at the point of attack as he should. Down blocks and work-up blocks tend to be more segmented and less rhythmic. Punch is a little wide and will need a more direct route to the frame. Has a tendency to let his weight get out in front of him in pass protection. Will take time to adjust to NFL level of competition for him.

BOTTOM LINE
Cooper is tough to get a read on due to the level of competition he plays. He is good but not dominant as a run blocker, which is a little surprising based on his girthy frame. He doesn't play with as much hip torque as you want so he will probably always have some limitations as a drive blocker. He's a decent athlete with an NFL frame and that should help him go as a developmental Day 3 draft prospect.

With the 223rd pick in the 2017 ROD Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select....Brian Allen, CB, Utah

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls

Why I picked him: Allen is a very tall (6'3") CB with super long arms (34"), with the athleticism to be a top tier starter when he develops. He's still very raw but has the hips and ball skills to get better as he improves his technique, and maybe even eventually start.

How he fits: Allen fits well in the Dolphins zone scheme where they prefer long lanky athletic CBs. He also will have the flexibility to play man coverage and even has the length to be a specialist and match up on monster TEs like Gronkowski in time. The Dolphins have Byron Maxwell, Xavien Howard and Tony Lippett, so Allen won't need to play immediately. He can focus on improving his technique and eventually become a great player for us. He's a high upside player for sure.

Allen's game against UCLA shows his ability to make plays on balls in the air, and his ability to run with defenders downfield. You can see his athleticism on tape, now he just needs technique work.

My draft is done fellas!

1) Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky

2) Derek Rivers, DE, Youngstown State

3) Vince Biegel, LB, Wisconsin

4) Eddie Vanderdoes, DT, UCLA

5) Blair Brown, LB, Ohio

6) Delano Hill, S, Michigan

7) Brian Allen, CB, Utah

I also picked up DE Ethan Westbrooks from the Rams!

I've fixed the defense I think! Will do a full thread about my draft soon.

Definitely one of my top considerations. A perfect last pick - unlimited potential, with size, speed... all he needs is a little seasoning.
