Peter King: MMQB - 9/19/16 - Sam Bradford Edition

.any of us here felt that Bradford would be a good fit with Turner, and hoped that Fisher would be able to lure Norv to the Rams.

damn....good guy Sam replaces good guy Teddy...and, from the way it looks....Teddy won't be able to beat out Sam.....Sam just throws the ball too damn well...the NFL

Sam has a stronger and more accurate deep ball than Teddy and it isn't close. It will be interesting to see how that unfolds. Tuesday's injury may be a godsend if Sam can keep it up.

I think a year with Chip Kelly really did Sam some good.

There's a QB Slide... and then there's BS

The QB slide is a legit and needed play in the NFL. Most running QBs have it down to a science and are able to protect themselves as a result. That's what it's for and I wholeheartedly think that it's a protection the QBs need and deserve.

But...

That freaking Oompa Loompa we saw yesterday uses the slide in a totally unsportsmanlike manner.

A QB is supposed to give himself up with the slide so that the defenders have time to let up and not deliver a shot to the QB.

Wilson does not do this... he has perfected the art of trying to bait the refs into having to call unnecessary roughness on the hits he takes when he does the QB slide. It's BS though, and I believe he should be called out for this by the league and not offered the protection the slide affords when he tries his little freaking gimmick. Watch him... he'll wait until the defender has to commit to hitting him... and THEN... he goes into his slide. He clearly does this on purpose and I'm sick of seeing it. We watched it yesterday.

He's gonna get more than a high ankle sprain from this puss ass crap. Somebody's gonna take his head off,,, and as far as I'm concerned,,, he'll deserve every bit of it.

Stop the madness GODhell... this crap is bush league.
I too believe it was a BS Call, and I agree with what you say Wilson is pulling! But he's using the rules and How do you fix that!!?! IDK!!

If Rams offense is off, is it time for Jared Goff?

You're misunderstanding my point (and maybe that's my fault, because I have many points swirling around in my head). WE (the members of ROD) can hear [see] it. The endless blasting of Keenum (and Fisher). Not only is it intolerable for *most* Rams fans, but it achieves nothing. We can't do anything about it, and the Rams can't hear you. So who are y'all lobbying to? Just venting, I guess? I mean, who wants to be around that all of the time? Most people just walk away from that kind of stuff because an echo chamber of negativity can be super annoying.

All I'm saying is that it would be cool if people would just chill out about it sometimes. Everyone who's a fan of this team is aware of what's going on. We know Keenum isn't the answer, and we know Fisher's offense can be irritating. But in the end, we're called to be fan(atics). Hoping for the best, even if it means expecting the worst. Sure you can have visceral reactions in real time. That's only natural. But to string it along for days, weeks, and even months is exactly what I said it was. Annoying. This is a community of fans, first and foremost, and the vision was to just get together and have fun without having to endure thread after thread after thread of that stuff. It's boring and unoriginal. Not to mention senselessly repetitive.

It would be like me coming into your house and you showing me a video tape of your kid's rehearsal. Maybe he plays the piano or whatever. You think it's good, but you know it's not great. You're just proud that he's out there doing his thing and enjoying himself. He's your kid, and you're proud of whatever he does. Meanwhile, I spend the next 30 minutes telling you how he's not as good as the kid down the block, how he seems to be tone deaf, how his pedal work is weak, how he should give up piano and pick up a tambourine, and how he'll never amount to anything. If that sorta thing doesn't bother you, then tell me what time to come over. I'll bring my dead horse.

I wish I could like this ten thousand times!!!!

Just a few Pre game Photos ..

Can't post for a few days.

Not as good as these pictures, but took a bunch on my point and shoot from the end zone. Flying back tonight, then moving this week.

Please post them when you can... I love seeing stuff like that.

Good luck with the move... I know that usually sucks for the most part.

Did I mention that I really like pics though? :D

Great team win yesterday, but...

So much is still concerning:
  • Offense is ranked 32, with the running game at 30th. Ave. a little over 1 pt per quarter!!
  • Gurley and OL not clicking yet.
  • Penalties. The crew yesterday was indeed flag happy, but it seems every game we have more than 6, with one being a block in the back. That never seems to "get fixed"
  • FO whiffed on Sensabaugh. Boy, he's burnt on EVERY play.
  • Speaking of FO whiffs, would this offense be much more dynamic with Fuller and Prescott? Thats the path I was thinking the Rams would have taken last year, but they shocked everyone on the trade.
  • Quick still a non-factor. Cooper and Spruce cant come back fast enough
  • Need more unpredictable Cunningham plays. Hes only in on 3rd and long
  • Keenum played hard, but gave up some bonehead sacks. Got real lucky on the face mask call
What was awesome:
  • Crowd. So awesome to see the Rams fans passionate about a game after years of watching red open seats in the Lou (no disrespect to those die hard St. Louis fan).
  • Tree, Joyner, Brockers, Hayes, Johnson, Donald all played like team leaders
  • Quinn. Great to see him back to his disruptive self
  • Britt. Wonder how good he would be with Brady, Rogers, etc
  • Goff on sidelines. From a PR standpoint, that was a must.
  • Gregg the Leg...Rams fans have seem less than consistent in recent years
  • Hecker-all punts inside the 20 with 0 returns.
  • Boras was better at play calling. Actually did some of the things I expected last week (PA, Roll outs, Sweeps).
  • Win-momentum is HUGE in the NFL. Hopeful this Fisher team can build on it against an opponent they manhandled last year next week.

Heavy formation for EVERY run...

When the Seahawks knew the Rams were running with Gurley, they would show blitz and crowd the line.
What gets me is that why didn't Boras go with six offensive linemen on the play by adding Jamon Brown as an extra guard for extra push up front?

There were some runs by Gurley where he was dragging three Seahawks behind him once he slipped through the line of scrimmage.

Had Boras put in an extra Guard on run plays, Gurley could have easily bust a few runs for a TD.

POLL: Who Is Your Ram Offensive And Defensive MVP

Ogletree was excellent and he has to call the defensive signals as well and Kenny Britt IMO exceeding expectations in this game and should have drawn a flag in the end zone after being ripped by Richard Sherman, but of course because of the clueless crew the penalty was lost.

Yeah, Britt did awesome. 6 rec 94 yds. The key was most of them were clutch catches. The non-call against Sherman was atrocious. Should have been 1st and goal at the 1.

Fisher, Britt, Ogletree: Post Game Pressers (videos)

Anyone care to add Gurleys presser? He acted like he just lost in a blowout again. Being rude to the reporters, pouting, etc. What the hell?
I don't know how to post it but I just watched it. He definitely seems bummed out he's not as productive as he has been. Some quotes were(paraphrasing)
"We can't always rely on the crowd. We gotta provide our own energy"

"It's whatever, it's football. You're not gunna have a great game every game"

"Put points on the board, we gotta score"

So he does sound frustrated. But who can blame him? He's never struggled like this his whole career.

Can Anyone Tell Me what Sensabaugh is DOING?

Troy Hill has some skills as both an outside corner & as a Nickel or Dime back. Fact is Troy Hill saw his first major action of his less than one year NFL career. Yes Hill seemed to have more speed than Sensabaugh. Troy was better than Coty but not by much. Troy will get better with experience he gains. Sad thing on Coty is he would seem to be max'd out. I would continue to get young Troy as much action as we can without hurting his confidence. Both Troy & Coty have gotten very little help from deep/free safety Mo Alexander too. Mo has been late to the party each & every time it would seem on those deep passes. So its not just Coty & Troy here but the MIA Mo Alexander.

Few reasons:
1. They are invalid tickets. We have had a number of people purchase off of StubHub and the tickets they got were not real.
2. They do not know they do not have access to the PDF now and so are posting that thinking they can.
We only allow people to get their PDF of their tickets once we are within 2 weeks of the game.

OK, Thanks for the help.
Sounds like first year growing pains.
So to be clear Instant download is never an option for anyone.even within 2 weeks?
It will always be a pdf transfer.

Yes, for that reason we always remind people to do delayed delivery on StubHub!

Defense gets the game ball.

I was going to do a thread on game balls until I saw this.. lolol Need to award 3 of them my good man. :)

Mine..

Greg the Leg.
Troy Hill (because they kept picking on him and he didn't budge)
DL

A 4th would go to OL on the one play. Man they pushed that Seattle DL back for a 1st.
Also that catch Britt had when he planted the 2 feet in bounds while on the sideline.

Don't forget our Pro Bowl punter, Johhny, who placed no less than six! balls inside the opponent's 20-yard line. And when Greg and Johnny are really doing well, our resident Invisible Man, LS Jake McQuiade, should automatically get a game ball too.

Lone wolf in the abyss

I realize I sound Pollyanna but too much work has been done for this game to be all we will see. The season just started. Beat the Hawks and the whole nature of the season changes. Call me a hopeless romantic but this might be just the kick in the groin that propels this team to what it needs to be.

I am officially back on the Kool-Aid. Thanks a lot.
