Assuming Jim Harbaugh, David Shaw and (thankfully) Chucky appear will not interview for the job.

I voted for Peyton. I think its as close as perfect you can get for us. Has the pedigree and track record we need badly. PERIOD. I don't care what the price is, look how fast the foreskins rebounded under Jay Gruden. Target the man and get the man. PERIOD

EDIT:

If for whatever reason we can't land Payton, then I think Kyle is the call. But again I can't stress enough give up a 3rd & 4rd broken up in differ years.. I don't think a higher pick we be needed under this situation I am guessing.

The Shanahans. This organization needs to be turned over all the way up to Stan. Still need his money. Not sure any other HC prospect could do what Mike has proposed, and I believe him when he says he can get the right people into the organization all the way from the top down to get some Super Bowl wins.

Would have picked Payton, but I don't like the "I don't care about the amount of comp." but if the comp is right, he's my guy.

Kyle Shanahan is currently #2 on my list.

I'm witholding my vote until tomorrow's thread.

Just kidding. McDaniels is my first choice, then Payton & Shanahan.

I'm very intruiged by Dave Toub. Would be my choice. HC isn't as much an Xs and Os position, but more of a manager position. Whoever the new coach is must bring in top flight staffs.

From that list, I'll take Shanahan.

Today, Jay Glazer said Linehan could also be considered. I think this proves, that nobody has a clue at this point.

50/50 on Payton and that's if the Rams are even interested. I believe it was Kyle & Mike Shanahan all along, I believe Stan Kroenke liked what Mike Shanahan accomplished in Denver and I also believe the Rams were very impressed with what the Falcons did in Los Angeles without the services of Julio Jones.

Kyle has the right demeanor to be a Head Coach and Mike Shanahan can only aid an organization with getting everyone on the same page to win Super Bowls. I'm anxious to see who their choice of defensive coordinator will be too, will they hire the polarizing Rex Ryan or go with Gus Bradley who runs a similar system to Dan Quinn with the Falcons?

Regardless I hope the Rams take a run at David Shaw, but I truly believe the Shanahan's have been at the top of the list from the outset and it won't cost any draft choices either.

I don't like any of those guys.
First time coaches never do well. If kyle came here expect him to be gone after 3 years. When's the last time a young first time HC did well and made it to the playoffs? I honestly can't think of one.
Payton is interesting but our defense isn't good enough for him to take over. If our defense was a top 5 and didn't have key FA losses the previous year I would be more comfortable with him at the helm. Point is he hasn't fielded a good defense since Williams was in charge not to mention they werent really that good they just created a lot of turnovers.

McDumps.... I'm nervous about hiring and patriot coordinator. He failed miserably in Denver and when he was the OC here with Bradford. Maybe he has learned from his failures and is ready to take the next step... I would only be comfortable if a GM was completely in charge of the talent.

Shaw....No

Gruden reminds me of Fisher, maybe the game has passed him by? I've watched his qb room show and I'm not really impressed with what hes had to say about guys coming out of college. Hell he called Austin Davis a "young Drew Brees" and maybe he is under the right coach but I highly doubt it.

I know Harbaugh isn't going to leave Michigan but if I were the Rams I would be knocking down his door and doing whatever it takes to get a meeting with the guy. He has a proven track record for putting together a winning football program and that's what we need. He did with a terrible 49er team and now at Michigan. I know this is probably just a fantasy but I think he had to be our guy and there aren't really any other options.

First time coaches never do well. .

Are you counting College Head Coaches as first time NFL Coaches? I assuming you're relating this to "First Time NFL Head Coaches.." Well, this year the record does not play well...As Ben McAdoo, Doug Pederson, Dirk Koetter & Adam Gase have fared far better than Hue Jackson, Chip Kelly & Mike Mularkey and in the history of Super Bowls first time NFL Head Coaches have won far more than guys with their second go rounds.

There are plenty. Hell, this season McAdoo has the Giants in the playoffs. Adam Gase, too, with a Broncos loss.

Random thought s on the things I like about the Shanahan's.... is they appear on the surface to be the right coaching types that could get our most valuable commodity Jared Goff going in the right direction because right now he is :help:. The father/son duo together would bring a special working duo at the top of the coaching headquarters. Mike has done fair to good with his drafts & has been great in finding low end RB's who produce. The young Kyle has the wise old father to provide some guidance if needed. Kyle would also have a younger smaller slightly less talented version of a Matt Ryan type QB to work with. So there are some attractiveness here to these two.

The down side to the Shanahan's is the type of OL blocking scheme (ZBS) :cautious::unsure::notsure:goes against the grain of the youth & talent known in this OL unit not sure how many can be real effective with Shanahan's OL. Most are massive PZS types. I think 3 might make the conversion to full ZBS ....Saffold, Rhaney & Murphy but that's about it. That's a big do over in the OL right off the get go.
