I feel sorry for them. Their only quality offensive weapon is made of glass. They're one of a handful of teams with a worse QB than Keenum. Kelly exposes his defense with his arrogance and stubbornness. This comment might come back to bite me, but I think SF is going to be a dumpster fire this year and Kelly will be gone at the end of the year.

I'll go one step further..........they will be drafting a QB very high next year and starting over with a new HC as you say. And probably a new OC too.
I am dying to see a complete meltdown on the field, in the locker room and in the front office.
Niner agony is better than a perfectly cooked t-bone hahahahaha.

No. At least not vs LA Rams.
I am concerned about our run defense though.

Agree. Not worried about the secondary, that group appears to be solid.
Our run defense is key. The Rams offense clearly will be built around Gurley. We have Purcell at NT. Dial and Dorsey are banged up. Don't know who will start next to Bowman. So there are question marks in the middle of the defense.

Keenum did play a good game against us last year. But I really feel like our secondary is next level good. Of course I am hoping C Davis is healthy or we might see ward move back inside and robinson play outside which I don't have a problem with at all now that I think about it. Robinson is going to take someone's spot before too long. He is capable of shutting WRs down.

Ray-Ray seemed to be the most explosive player in pre-season...but then again, it's not the real game.
He was released from the Rams and the Raiders in successive years, so that does not give much confidence either.

Jimmie Ward actually had good man coverage on Tavon Austin last game. And I don't even who their #2 receiver is, shoot I don't think they know either. The secondary should be fine if Tank can come through with some pressure.

I'm very worried about the 49er run defense. I can see both defenses coming in with the same game plan - stop the run game and dare the QB and the WRs to beat them. Lots of 8 in the box until the QBs can prove they can throw the ball.

Chip wants Kaep on this team. Kaep being active and as the #2 QB is the most obvious sign they are willing to put him in if gab goes down.

I think its possible he's traded before the deadline. Denver could still be a suitor. Kaep can be a little more exciting than the dude they got right now. Also #2 is the only logical spot to put him. Honestly I think Gabbert thrives under Chip and won't be surprised if he ends up back next year as the #1. Hell if Gabbert is back as the starting QB, the niners can go after a WR in the 1st round.

Predictions: Vance McDonald goes for 6 catches 80yds and a TD. Jeremy Kurley will catch a team high 8 passes. Torry Smith will only have one catch but it will be a big one. Anthony Davis and Trent Brown will be praised for their great play during the game and following all week. Beadles will struggle and Garnett will start week 2. Gurley will average under 3yds a carry. Tank Carradjne will have 2 sacks. Jimmy Ward will not allow a catch.

Our D-Line is not better than theirs. They have arguably the best DT in football in Aaron Donald. A top 10, if not top 5 pass rusher in Robert Quinn and a very solid DT in Brockers.

Yeah Carolina is in the conversation with them but the Rams have one heck of a dline. I'm looking forward to seeing how the interior of our oline is able to handle Donald. They are getting battle tested right out of the gate.
I've said for two weeks now. The key to matching the rams aggressive style of attacking on defense is to hit those quick passes efficiently and getting your screen game going. If you can't their dline will make you pay for it all game

I do expect our [much improved] Oline to do much better than they did against them last season, and I do believe our Oline will do well enough vs their Dline to give our offense enough chances to score / win.

One of the most painful games to watch was the first half game vs. the Seahawks in Seattle last season where our run defense looked like a bunch of Pop Warner rejects. If our run defense hasn't improved since that then it will be a long game tonight and it will be a long season

Front 7? Bowman is Bowman. Arik has a bum shoulder, Dorsey and Dial have bum legs. Ray Ray is a bum. Not having Lynch is huge. QB pressure? Gurley just has to run away from Bowman.
