Iupati is overrated and seems to be entering that 'injury' stage of his career. I couldn't be happier that the Cardinals signed him.

Welp, I'm sure glad our Rams stayed away from him and went through the draft for our new starting RG.

Really glad our front office did not try to bring him in, he has been hurt and is not very good in pass pro. We've got our own problems but hopefully are in a strong upward learning curve with healthy young guys who will give a a big enough window to stabilize the level of quality along the oline.

Not a good thing for Palmer especially against us.But at least they have a good excuse now on why they will get destroyed by us.

Indeed. Palmer might have a good chance to destroy his knee again too which would make the Rams win that much better!!!!!

Vikings lose tackle Carter Bykowski for the season

The Vikings bumped rookie T.J. Clemmings up to the first team after right tackle Phil Loadholt’s torn Achilles, a move that shored up their starting line but left them shorter on depth heading into the regular season.

That depth has taken another hit. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Wednesday that tackle Carter Bykowski needed to have shoulder surgery, although multiple reports are that Bykowski actually tore his pectoral muscle and that he will miss the 2015 season as a result.

It’s the fifth time a Vikings player has torn his pectoral in the last year. Zimmer said earlier this summer that the Vikings have worked to figure out how to do a better job of preventing those injuries, which knocked Loadholt and guard Brandon Fusco out of the lineup last year.

The Vikings have seventh-round pick Austin Shepherd, recently signed Stephen Goodin and oversized Polish import Babatunde Aiyegbusi in reserve at tackle and backup guardDavid Yankey has been seeing some time there during practice as well. Zimmer said Wednesday, via the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, that the team will “continue to look” for players at the position.

Cardinals lose Corey Peters to torn Achilles

Defensive lineman Corey Peters recovered from a 2013 torn right Achilles to play in 15 games for the Falcons last season and landed a three-year deal with the Cardinals as a free agent.

The Cardinals are going to have to wait until the second year of that deal to get any contributions from Peters, however. Coach Bruce Arians announced on Thursday that Peters has torn his other Achilles and will miss the 2015 season as a result.

Peters was expected to start at nose tackle this season, so his loss will force the team to come up with a new plan on the defensive line. Arians said that the first man up to replace Peters will be 2015 fourth-round pick Rodney Gunter, who the team traded up to get after being impressed by his work at Delaware State.

Arians also confirmed that left guard Mike Iupati will miss time after surgery to repair a torn meniscus. He put Iupati’s recovery time at 3-8 weeks. That is a bit more optimistic than the 6-8 weeks reported on Wednesday, but it will still likely leave the team to rely on Ted Larsen up front early in the season.

Gruden: RG3 has a concussion, will remain the starter

Robert Griffin III was treated for a shoulder injury and a concussion after being sacked for the third time in four series Thursday night. After some initial confusion sparked by Joe Theismann saying on the team-owned broadcast that Griffin had been cleared, Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed after the team’s preseason win over the Lions that Griffin did suffer a concussion.

He didn’t want to say much else about it.

“Obviously won’t be fielding any questions (about it),” Gruden told reporters after confirming that Griffin had a concussion. “We’ll get a further exam and do all the things we have to do.”

Pressed on whether he thought about removing Griffin from the game after three series, 10 total yards and a handful of big hits the quarterback took, Gruden said “We felt confident in our tackle and our offensive line to try to get something going there in that fourth drive. Obviously it didn’t happen.”

Willie Smith started at left tackle in place of Trent Williams, who sat out with a right foot issue Gruden said was not serious.

Gruden said Griffin’s shoulder is OK — the initial diagnosis was “right-side stinger” — and said he anticipates Griffin returning to the starting lineup when he’s cleared.

“Depending on how long he’s out he’s going to be our starter,” Gruden said. “We have to go through the whole process and see how he recovers.”

Source: Foot injury for Patriots WR Brian Tyms could threaten his season
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, West Virginia -- New England Patriots reserve wide receiver Brian Tyms injured his foot during Wednesday’s practice with theNew Orleans Saints, a source tells ESPN. The foot injury is serious enough that it could threaten Tyms' season.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Tyms played in 11 regular-season games last season for the Patriots, with two starts. He also appeared in one playoff game.

As a No. 4 or 5 receiver, he added value as a gunner on the punt coverage team. Tyms finished with five catches for 82 yards and one touchdown in 2014, with vertical routes his forte (43-yard touchdown catch vs. Buffalo). He was vying for a similar role this season.

Tyms’ injury could have a trickle-down effect on other receivers vying for a roster spot, including 2013 draft picks Aaron Dobson (second round) and Josh Boyce (fourth round), as well as veteran Brandon Gibson.

The Patriots travel to New Orleans on Friday in advance of Saturday night’s preseason game against the Saints.

The concussion suffered by Robert Griffin III might be the most discussed injury news to come out of Thursday night’s Redskins game, but it wasn’t the only injury that the team suffered.

And, unlike Griffin, linebacker Adam Hayward isn’t going to be playing football again anytime soon. According to multiple reports, Hayward tore his right ACL in the game against the Lions.

Hayward doesn’t play much on defense for the Redskins, but he was their special teams captain last season and was going to play a major role on those units again this season. Hayward was hurt on Thursday when he collided with Lions safety Isa Abdul-Quddus while covering a kickoff.

Tight end Niles Paul was another leader on special teams for Washington before breaking his ankle in the preseason opener, so the team is down two of their core players in that phase of the game.

Man, those are two gurus right there,” fullback Darrel Young said, via the Washington Times. “It’s unfortunate that we’ve had two of our guys go down, but guys have got to step up in this situation — and right now, it’s on me.”

Hayward is signed through next season.

For a guy who wanted more contact in practices during training camp, Giants linebacker Jon Beason hasn’t had much success staying in games.

Beason left tonight’s game against the Jaguars with a left knee sprain, and the team announced he won’t return. He was sitting on the sidelines with a large ice wrap on the knee.

Beason has missed 40 games with a variety of injuries the last four seasons, after not missing a game his first four with the Panthers.

While he’s a dynamic player and natural leader on the field when he’s well, he’s had a hard time staying that way for the Giants.

Panthers DE Frank Alexander tears Achilles, is out for season

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000514437/article/frank-alexander-tears-achilles-is-out-for-season

th

The Carolina Panthers suffered another devastating injury.

Defensive end Frank Alexander tore his Achilles tendon Saturday night early in the Panthers' victory over the Miami Dolphins.

"I'm disappointed for Frank," coach Ron Rivera said after the game. "That's a tough one."

Alexander was the leader to start opposite Charles Johnson on the Panthers defensive front. Alexander was suspended for 14 games in 2014.

"I feel like I was on the right track, but I am going to bounce back from this," Alexander told the Panthers' official website. "My faith is still high. I'm not giving up on myself. I'm going to stay positive and stay focused. It's just another bump in the road that I have to get over."

Kony Ealy -- who earned a sack Saturday night -- is expected to take up for the loss of Alexander. Rivera also mentioned Wes Horton as a player expected to step into a larger role.

Playing safety for the Giants isn’t safe, Justin Currie breaks ankle

Playing safety for the Giants is quickly becoming the football equivalent of being the drummer in Spinal Tap.

The team announced that rookie safety Justin Currie suffered a fractured ankle in tonight’s preseason game against the Jaguars.

Currie, a rookie free agent from Western Michigan, is just the latest in a series of of players getting injured at the position for the Giants. Fifth-round rookie Mykkele Thompson tore his Achilles in the first preseason game, and second-rounder Landon Collins sprained his MCL. Nat Berhe has also missed time.

That caused them to get desperate and sign Brandon Meriweather, and at the current rate, he’s going to end up playing, unless he ends up standing too close to Mick Shrimpton.

I wonder if the Giants would be interested in a trade for one of our 36 safeties? I doubt whoever gets cut makes it through waivers before we can put him on the PS. 7th rounder?

This one isn't a major injury but still news worthy.

Arians: CJ2K out 1-2 weeks with pulled hamstring.

Chris Johnson will need to wait to make his debut with the Arizona Cardinals.

The recently signed running back will miss one to two weeks after pulling his hamstring in Thursday's practice, according to coach Bruce Arians, who provided the update after Arizona's 22-19 preseason loss to the San Diego Chargers.

In Johnson's absence, his namesake -- rookie runner David Johnson -- rushed for 66 yards off 13 carries at 5.1 yards per attempt, prompting Arians to say that the first-year runner played well "once he got out of the dance studio."

Arians has repeatedly voiced his concerns over a Cardinals backfield that has yet to produce a clear starter this summer. Last year's featured back, Andre Ellington, is too slight to carry the load alone, leaving the door open for Johnson and Johnson to share the work.

While CJ2K has yet to make an impression on the field, we expect him to make the club after quarterback Carson Palmer called the former 2,000-yard rumbler a "really, really good fit" for the Cards.
