Sports Phrase that drives me nuts

"Great football play."

"Great golf shot."

There are plenty more but those 3 are my least favorite that I can think of at the moment.

I use that first one all the time.

So do i. Usually when i'm asked to explain my actions or the actions of someone else and the expectations were originally set unrealistically by a certain party that is ummm...out of touch. Its a term i use in the workplace often. :ahight:

As far as sports phrases...maybe the term "picked off" used to describe an interception. Das jus whack. :ww:

The one that really bugs me comes from players' mouths.

"I'm gonna Play Hard" or "Just Play Hard"

Players say this a bunch during interviews after games. Anything with "Play Hard" in it bothers the shit out of me. I mean really,,, as if you weren't going to Play Hard all of the time. Say something specific for the love of Jah. "Play Hard" .... well thanks for the fantastic insight there, now I get it.

I think this is where it comes from. It's a weak example of the penalty...so it is within uniformity with the rules but it's just not a good call.

The only thing that gets me is when an announcer hasn't done their research on a team and doesn't know what they're talking about.

This is the dumbest misused word by football announcers and fans. Seems to me it must have been used by someone who meant to say nit-picky or something and it stuck...because nowhere does the word ticky tacky have relevance to an official making a lame call.
