Didn't realize that Wetzel was responsible for the name Rams. Knew they were named after Fordham, but not that it was because Fordham was Wetzel's favorite team:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damon_Wetzel

Damon "Buzz" Wetzel (November 7, 1910 – October 15, 1985) was a fullback for Ohio State, the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was also the first head coach of the Cleveland Rams when they played in the American Football League, then general manager of the Rams (1937–38) after they entered the National Football League. [1] He was instrumental in the founding of the still-existing franchise, ninth oldest in the NFL, after leaving his post-college job as a newspaper illustrator. He also was responsible for naming it "Rams", in honor of Fordham, his favorite college team, and because the name was short enough to fit easily into a newspaper headline.

In 1938, after the Rams opened with three straight losses following a 1-10 inaugural season in the NFL, both Wetzel and Hugo Bezdek, whom he had hired to succeed him as head coach, were fired by Rams management. In 1939 Wetzel became general manager of the Mansfield Braves, class D minor league team to the baseball Cleveland Indians.[2] In the early 1940s he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

So, on the coaching tree, wouldn't Martz fit under Coryell?

He coached under Chuck Knox, Rich Brooks, Norv Turner, and Dick Vermeil.
Jim Hanifan and Al Saunders coached under Coryell though.

We went 23-73, combined, under Linehan/Haslett/Spags. Twenty three wins in six years, with eight of them coming in 2006. So 15 wins in five years. Jesus.

Kind of puts 7-9 bullshit on a pedestal.

One of the few pictures I took while overseas - a street sign in Venice Italy that, yes, reminded me of Ray

How this team occupies so much of what's left of my brain cells I'll never know

I really don't know. I didn't create the Tree! good question!
It is a weird tree -- e.g. not sure why Lovie Smith is just thrown in there at the bottom right. But it's good for the laugh of Bill Walsh always listed under Al Davis, nothing makes pro-Whiner idiots squirm more than that. Coaching trees should be more about influence than who gave them their first job though. Like Jeff Fisher should probably be under Mike Ditka, not here.

Imagine paying to go see that crap. I weep at the money I wasted on the Rams watching the worst football team in the history of the NFL only to have them turn their backs on me after the fact. I guess I'm a masochist is the only reasonable explanation why I'm still a fan of this team.

As for pedestal, 7-9 is a welcome change for 2, maybe 3, years after that s*** show but year 5 should show growth.
