Evans = bottle of the barrel. I can't believe this dude was a mid draft pick.

I also wonder if Gains is injured in some fashion.

Brian Allen should help stabilize our line, and when we get Shelton back that should help even more. No more Evans please.

Agree on Evans.
Gaines has a shoulder injury of some kind, hopefully the BYE week will help the healing, ... at least Bobby Brown will be returning now.
Allen replacing Kolone is like a colonic for the Center position, ... out with the crap.

PFF Grades are still good to use along with what you see during the games.

The above sure says a lot about the interior of this OL. #71 being a veteran active Ram OL for 4 seasons & can only produce enough effort for a grade of 54.....sure is pathetic. Aboushi is new & thrown in & comes out just about the same.

I have seen some say here in ROD #71 had a good game. During the bye, I would give veteran Matt Skura a real chance to start @ LG against the 9ers & let #71 sit.

Thrown into this mess is new guy Aboushi & I believe O' Oday Aboushi will hold onto this RG post for a while even when Coleman Shelton returns. I would move Brian Allen back into start @ OC & send Jeremiah Kolone to reserve OC. Kolone would back up the center post.

When IOL Colemen Shelton returns in a month I would look to insert Shelton into the LG post to battle with Veteran Matt Skura in @ LG.

It says Oday was put in the position he’s always played?

Evans is best at right tackle.
He’s showing improvement at guard.

He played decent on Sunday.

Shelton’s season grade is 49.9.

Perhaps we step back and not dump the guy the minute he shows signs of improvement.

Evans next to Jackson was the best he has looked since he spot started at tackle way back when. He still is a risk to give you a shit game at any week but if Jackson can settle LT down and we get Allen back Evans may be serviceable.

Same with Aboushi. I don't know much about him but considering the short window of his time with the team it could have been much worse.

What we really need here is the injuries to stop so the 5 can log games together and get on one sheet of music. So here's hoping they get Allen back and then get through this game without needing more moves.

It's only been a couple games since the 49'ers destroyed Evans, do you really like his chances for the next one, perhaps the most important divisional game of our season ?

No.

But I am trying to convince myself that if we get the tackles and center sorted maybe we can live with iffy guards.

watching von miller terrorize QBs with what our ends are doing right now.. is disheartening.
I think most of us knew it was going to be a mess opposite Floyd.

I'm not sure we believed that Floyd would add to that mess.
He's hurt and with our pass rush, it's been hard to get home with the DBs playing off the WRs. I've always viewed Floyd as a damn good ALL AROUND EDGE. Not a pass rush specialist.

I admit I'd like to see a little more edge threat from big 54. Especially with the low threat we have from that other side. But I gotta agree with Otto here I suspect he's playing through some sort of injury. He's a tough dude and wired like Stafford that way IMO, where he will play when he's hurt.

If he's injured then I'd be wrong for calling him out, I just am unaware of anything verified as a problematic physical condition.

Waste of time on that issue Merlin I would move on to another area where all this internal brain convincing is not a waste of your valuable brain matter.

I prefer an internal starting lineup of Center Brian Allen, RG O' Oday Aboushi & LG Matt Skura going up against that 9ers DL.

Let Carberry utilize his prize favorite OL'er #71 as the swing OT #6th OL'er in the 9er game. Carberry is going to have to have one so let it be #71.

I don't think you'd be wrong for calling him out. This is what we do as fans, we don't have to look the players in the eye after we have aired our real opinions on them like coaches or media types do.

Also it's not like we're privy to things like injury statuses. Rams do a great job of not telling us shit. So we are left to get creative with our opinions. :beer2::woozy2:

I’m 2 seasons at left guard, Skura graded worse than Evans yesterday.

There’s a reason he was on the street.

If he can’t beat Kolone at center, he can’t beat Evans at guard.

Maybe you're right Boni. I am perhaps overtasking my remaining brain cells with the quantum problem of Evans and how it is that we have such a different opinion of him than the Rams staff does. I mean obviously he must be one hell of a practice player. It's either that or the dreaded upside thing, or maybe even involves compromising pictures of someone on the staff. Which I joke about but these guys do live a road life so you know damn well some of them are dirty sailors with a woman in multiple ports. :laugh3:

As to the guard spots I am wondering if they see Skura as primarily a depth center. Seems that way to me. But I wouldn't be averse to seeing him given a chance.

Whatever they do and whoever they try to keep in whatever spot it is important that they get some consistency playing next to each other. So much of line play is how well 5 guys play together, and the 5 that finished the game vs Carolina looked good together. I don't rewatch games any more admittedly but it felt like we were getting a lot of great movement in the screen game. Which has been a rather shitty phase of the game for us this year. I can't remember the last time our screen game was executed that well.

But also there were some seams out there in the run game. Which is a really good sign. So if they trot out the same exact 5 vs SF I will of course get behind them and root with great hope, even as I indulge liberally in bong tokes and bourbon to ensure I can get through the game.
