Pretty sure exactly what I said :D Whether this 4-3 DE is better at OLB than anybody we have playing the position

His trade was a financial decision. He isn't worth the $11M cap hit and Rams would have eaten the same to cut him. Of course the fact that they squandered the cap advantage and then some in signing Suh is an example of how much it can affect a unit to miss on a big FA signing.

It was also because he wasn't a scheme fit but yes there were financial implications coupled with that made it an obvious move.

Pretty sure exactly what I said :D Whether this 4-3 DE is better at OLB than anybody we have playing the position. As for only playing passing downs that's an interesting idea not sure where you pulled that from. He's played almost 61% of defensive snaps for Miami this year when the leader on the DLine is playing just under 63%. These kind of conversations never cease to amaze me. Last year we were all talking about how bad RQ was in Wades defense inspite of his sack number and now all of a sudden he's great and we desperately need him back. Interesting though that Quinn is great having played just under 600 snaps on defense to get 5.5 sacks. Yet Fowler who's played 2/3 that number for 4 sacks isn't as good. Oh well guess we'll just keep pining for our injury prone former 4-3 DE to play Edge in our current 3-4 defense.

Actually go back and look at those conversations. Better yet ask @BonifayRam about our conversations on Quinn and how strongly I disagreed with the Majority of posters. I admit Quinn was not that great at the beginning of last year, but go ahead and look at his stats and look at his production in the first eight games vs. the last eight games. He definitely turned the corner and was playing much better in Wades system. I didn't expect him to light the world on fire but he was much better than any OLB we have currently on the team vs. the pass/run. All you have to look at is our production this year vs. last, and it's definitely worse this year. On paper you would think our Dline would be world beaters but unfortunately it hasn't worked out that way.

If we didn't obtain Peters and kept Quinn this is what our Dline would have looked like
Quinn/AD/Suh/Brockers/Fowler
I'd take that any day of the week rather than giving up a 2nd round for Peters. Granted we didn't know Peters was going to be one of the worst CBs in the league this year so this is all hindsight but when push comes to shove we shouldn't have let him walk for unknown commodities at OLB.

Was a good change for all parties involved. Seen tree on quit a few highlights from giants games but he wasn’t a set LB here. With that said compared to Barrón this season he would be at least average at the worst! One thing I loved about Tree was he had a knack to be around the football and make a game changing play for any short coming he had.

Quinn was a one trick pony with he’s outside speed rush and when he didn’t sharpen any other skills and injured slowed him down he was not much of a factor any more.

Wish them both the best. We just need to draft some legit pieces and it’s going to be interesting to see our season plays out and what they do with Fowler.

If Brian Allen turns out to be a solid starting center for us, then the trade was worth it. I'm pretty sure we got someone else in that draft, as Miami gave up a sixth, but I don't know who we got because that pick was traded to Denver.
