I have seen enough of Forbath to know he is not better than Sloman. In fact, I'd argue Sloman was better, particularly factoring his touchbacks/kick returns compared to Forbath.

Time to try MacGinnis.

Whatever happened to the mouthful, Lirim Hajrullahu?

He damn sure had a strong leg for kickoffs.

I’m just nervous a kicker will cost us the season...Would love to see Austin McGinnis kicking on Monday Night

I'd promote MacGinnis. Try to get Hajrullahu on the PS.

Another option would be to go after Rohrwasser on the Patriots PS. He had solid college numbers and decent kickoff length, but he had a rough start in Pats camp. It sounds like he's been improving throughout the season. There's a chance it forces the Pats to activate him to their active roster. I'd still consider that a small win.

I think we give Hecker a chance to do it all. Something tells me if he starts practicing FGs he'll be the best option.
You do realize he is holder as well. Too many variables to change IMO.

What a nightmatre this position has been. Surely there are players that can consistently kick straight and can kick into the end zone.
You would think so. It's not like teams all over the league are stashing good kickers on their practice squad. Are they? Frustrating situation.

Let's just see what MacGinnis can do and cut Forbath. I'm sorry, but he's not the answer, and he's now hurt.

And before you call me a hypocrite for wanting Forbath gone and not Sloman at first, I'll remind you that Sloman's a rookie. Forbath was known to have his issues on kickoffs and beyond the 50. What wasn't known was how he would end up playing.

McVay is receiving his real-time lesson on special teams this season. He's a quick study though so hopefully he realizes he can't trust Bonamego and will take his input with a fucking grain of salt in this search.

If I were in McVay's shoes I would be on the horn with Andy Reid asking for permission to hire Andy Hill away from the Chiefs right now. It's a job upgrade and Reid may allow it. And for the record I know nothing about Andy Hill other than the fact that Dave Toub is the best ST coach in the league in my opinion and Hill's his understudy.

But either way Bonamego would be fired this week. I dislike almost every single thing they have done under his direction. Poor hire, ok fix it and move forward. If I had to dip down into the college ranks to replace him so be it.

I knew something smelled bad with ST when they had Cooper Kupp returning punts...

I’d send Forbath packing, elevate Mcginnis, and sign Lirim to the PS. We do have an extra day.

I think Jonathan Thurston would be free ...

I don't see a problem with bringing in a guy with a power leg from soccer or rugby and putting him on the PS while you coach him up. Unfortunately there's that small detail about who's doing the coaching lol. But I think if you invited a handful of those types and have them do kickoffs on a tee then sign the one who kicks the furthest consistently what do you have to lose? We already miss easy field goals. Might find a diamond in the rough never know.
