Tavon Austin will not be missed ...with our set of wideouts.........

Every effort should be made to ensure that last nights OL is here for the 2019 season (Saffold resign)....

Cory Littleton is what Wade wants in his MLB'er in his defense....

Best trio of wide outs since ...Cooks/Holt, Woods/Bruce, Kupp/Proehl....

Austin Blythe is a good starting ZBS RG for Kromer..........

Troy Hill has burnt up his last two working brain cells.....

Marqui Christian has replace Cody Davis......

RB Malcolm Brown has some quick outstanding hands in the pass game....

The thinned downsized Dom Easley can play OLB'er & is one of the new starters replacing Quinn & Conner.

Not too big on conspiracy theories, even for a Ram fan, but not the craziest thing that I've heard.

Cheers!

I've recently read, "The Fix is In", the author has me looking at the NFL with a more cynical eye. He lists many examples of games that had bad calls guiding the outcome. In every case he had a good argument that the reason was either for profit, or returning a favor for something an owner did, that resulted in profit. In the end, the NFL is a business, and whenever they can turn the tide toward more profits, they can easily do so with no consequence, as the league only answers to itself. One thing I have come to realise over the years is the power money has over men.

Yes. Agreed. Roughing the passer call on Donald was ridiculous. Was blocked into him, was falling towards him, and tackled Carr around the shins. HOW is that roughing? It's not.

On another Aaron Donald thought. The announcer last night said something like, "Look what the Rams did tonight and you did not even hear Aaron Donald's name...."

Was that announcer trying to say that AD got paid too much and the Rams might be able to win without him?
Or do you think he was saying just wait until AD has good to great games and the Rams will pummel other teams?

What is pummel?

If there really was a conspiracy and the refs (or players, coaches, whatever) were in on it, you really don't think there would have been a leak by now? You're talking about a sport where there are literally cameras everywhere, 24/7 news coverage, and everyone's constantly looking for the next scandal.

This isn't the WWE, the NFL represents itself as an honorable competitive sport. One leak would completely destroy everything they've built, and then nobody's making any profits. Why risk it?

Definitely meant waiting til AD has a great game. No one thinks he's been paid to much.

Not missed at all. Last year, when Austin was in, you knew there was a high chance the jet sweep was coming. Last night you had no idea as Rams used players for the jet sweep that are always on the field. Very effective. Poor DCs facing McVay. Tough job!

The point isn't that it's a massive conspiracy, but rather a few refs and a very few in the NFL Commish office.

It takes very little to sway most games. Since holding happens on every play pretty much, if they want to keep it close, they can always call holding.

I can't tell you how many holding flags I've seen called after a deep ball was caught. They didn't call it at the time of the hold, but waited to see if the pass was completed. That is very suspicious.

Moreover, the coincidences can be very hard to overlook. I think I said it in October or November that there was no chance anyone other than the Patriots were going to win after 9/11. You don't really have to look further than the Tuck Rule game against the Raiders for a greater example. I don't think the NFL expected Belichick to cheat as hard as he did nor to exploit the "let them play" attitude of the refs as much as he did in the Super Bowl, tho. Same with NO after Hurricane Katrina. Bettis, Ray Lewis, and others getting rings and riding off into the sunset, etc. The number of coincidences seem odd.

I think as the season develops a narrative starts and stories emerge and I think the NFL guides it. Do I think the NFL wanted the Rams in the Super Bowl against the Titans? Nope. But those Rams were simply so good that they often scored 40 in spite of bad calls by the refs. Same with the Titans.

it's like this: if there's manipulations it's just that...manipulation. I don't think it's outright fixing. That said, so often it only takes a call or two on critical plays to sway close contests. How many teams have gone 6-10 that could easily have gone 10-6 with literally one call per game going the other way?

I don't think there's a grand conspiracy nor game fixing, but it wouldn't surprise me to find out that there's been tampering. I already believe that now.

But yeah, for the most part the game's clean and if after decades of being crapped on (in no small part because of the owner), then it doesn't hurt my feelings if the winds change and we get the wind at our backs for a spell.

It would be easy. It’s only the refs that would need to know and they are a secretive bunch as it is. Money is a powerful influence. Notice how refs are there until they get very old. It’s a good gig. And it wouldn’t have to be every red. It would only have to be a few trusted refs.

We are talking about a major fix every few years. Or a little tweak for a team throughout the year. As subtle as protecting a QB, like Brady for a career, or Carr for a season.

The NBA has rampant point shaving going on for decades and it wasn’t just league ordered. Yet after fifty years one ref came forward.

Refs may sign documents that would make them pay the money back or whatever. It’s enough incentive for a few guys a year. And yes the NFL is like the WWE. It’s money and entertainment first and foremost. Sure most of the games are legitimately played. But throughout the season, calls he and there happen and can go unnoticed or are dismissed for human error. They only outcomes that make are worth altering are teams chosen to win the SB and if the team ends up screwing up or being outmatched it would be easy to cancel the plan.
