First, let me say that we shouldn’t worry about Goff, Woods, and Kupp. They’re all proven commodities and that 49er game was an outlier, I think.

But there are other things that, if changed, could really help Ram chances of winning now and enhance deep playoff opportunities.

Let’s see...

I think that I have 8 for you, here.

Fewer snaps for Brown, more snaps to Hendy and Akers. Let the thoroughbreds eat, less for the plodder. With our ‘new’ OL I think we can do this.

More 12 sets. More Everett as a FB, too. More targets for the TE’s. Our TE’s have been devastating when used.

Get back to that early season dominant 140+ yard per game running attack. It makes the play action even more effective while helping to win the TOP battle. And it tires and demoralizes opponents.

If I were Snead, I would be trying to move mountains to trade for either an edge or ILB for this season. I really think either might put us over the top toward deep playoff chances. But without at least one, I dunno...

Maybe Staley got ahead of himself with using Ramsey as a nickel at times. Why not use Ramsey each week to erase other team’s best weapon, instead? Think about it.

Other teams are gonna copy that 49er strategy of ‘2 second’ passing. It neutralizes AD and exposes our LB’s. Maybe Staley should anticipate this in the FIRST half of our next game rather than waiting until the 2nd half when we’re down by 15-20 points? Yeah, little sarcasm there. More press man, IOW? Or at least something.

How about some emphasis on tackling? This has become ridiculous as we watch run-after-contact by our opponents soar. Inexcusable for professional football players. Geez...

Why in the world are the Rams NOT using Webster on returns? Unbelievable...

Congrats on the Forbath decision. What took you so long?

That’s 8 suggestions that I believe, if followed, would really improve this team dramatically for the rest of this regular season and also for the all important playoff season. I think all are doable (with the possible exception of executing the trade) and I don’t think that any are controversial, tbh.

I would agree.. Less snaps for Brown. Let Akers and Hendo run wild.

I would also like to see them make a move for a ILB or EDGE. It was last few years and is this year, a problem. Just fix it already.

Don't like seeing Kupp on PR. I'd be really pissed if he gets hurt on one.

YES YES YES to tackling. Just atrocious.

I would like to see:

In game adjustments made before halftime.

less defensive miscues in the secondary

More press coverage to make the QB hold the ball longer

More utilization of our TE’s, to open up other options.

SOMETHING from our Special Teams would be great!

More TE usage and commitment to the run (including WR sweeps) on offense.
For the love of God strengthen the ILB position. Compare someone like Fred Warner to our ILBs and its lightyears apart.

1. Give the play calling duties to Kevin O'Connell.

2. Incorporate Packages for Van Jefferson without Kupp in it or 2 TE with Woods and VJ at WRs.

3. Replace Ebukam with Polite at DE. The new Defensive Line is Floyd, Donald, Brockers and Polite.

Just for reference: This is the likely Rams draft picks for the 2021 draft. Includes comps for Fowler and Littleton

2. 1
3. 3
6. 1
7. 3

So currently they don't have a lot to trade. Many trades this time of year include combinations of picks 4-7. For a third they best get a damn good player considering what the Ravens just got.

I'd like to see a few more blitz packages (we currently rank 21st in blitz %) to punish teams for double/triple teaming Donald.

I'd like to see A Donald get the handoff on 4th and goal from the 3. You know, kinda like the Bears did with "the Fridge".

I’m definitely not a football aficionado when it comes to Xs and Os. I have a basic understanding of what I’m seeing, but definitely nothing super impressive. One thing I’ve noticed is I can tell when the WR goes in motion when the ball is going to be snapped. If I am noticing this then I imagine that anyone blitzing outside of lineman might be able to tell as well. I guess I would like to see the ball snapped at different times to keep the defense honest. I understand the point of the movement, but most of the time it feels predictable. This is kinda smaller than other people’s observations, but what others have said are pretty on point so I wanted to add something different. If I sound like an idiot then I apologize haha

I think Crappolo was 7 for 7 targeting KY and 5 of 7 against Kizer. That's rough and I hope we can figure something out there.

Personally, I'd trade Young for a conditional sixth. The Steelers are looking for inside linebacker help after Devin Bush got injured. Why not trade him there for something? I'd play Rozeboom or Bituli over Young at this point.

Passing on under 2 seconds to defeat Aaron Donald has been a traffic that gets used for a few years now. Man coverage has been needed for a while now. But we keep playing 15 yards off ball with soft zone on 3rd and 5 for 3-4 years now. My only point being, they won't be copying the niners if they do that. They'll be copying a bunch of teams over the last several years. We've needed man to man coverage for a while.

I consider this to be the best point of the original post. Ramsey needs to be fulfilling the role het got paid for recently.

By the way, Malcom Brown deserves every touch coming to him.

I'd start with the positions where the depth chart offers answers...

WR: replace Reynolds with Jefferson. Yeah he's a rook and will F things up at times but he's going to get better week to week. Promote him and give this WR group the kick in the pants that they need. Quit giving snaps to a dude who won't be here next year. Van needs those snaps to be ready to help us out in the playoffs. Get that kid ready.

RB: replace Brown as RB2 with Akers. This one is a no brainer. Akers getting the snaps he needs to settle in will help solidify our RB duo where we can ride the guy in any given game who has a hot hand. And both can do the same things Gurley did in this offense, not as well as a healthy Gurley but still they can both be moved around and flip the field for you on occasion. This isn't about Brown btw. It's about the offense gaining explosion by replacing a depth player with a starter who fits this offense.

DL: Brock is in there too much. IMO he needs to be rotated out more and thankfully Robinson is coming soon. I'd 50/50 Robinson and Brock at 5T. Straight up. 5T has been a prob for us. I assume Brock will be better when rested up a bit. They may put Robinson at NT and move SJD out which is fine. But I think the line is stronger the other way around. SJD can do it but he's better inside and is very much a run specialist. Gaines has been playing very well but he has to stay inside due to those short arms. Lastly Robinson can also sub for AD on run downs, I think keeping AD fresh as possible for pass rush downs is critically important given our edge rush.

CB: I still find it hard to believe that Hill is the best CB3 option. Whether he's outside or in the slot the guy is very inconsistent. There's a ton of ways to squeeze him out too, from finding a slot option in house that allows Ramsey to move back outside (Burgess comes to mind here because of his run support he'd also provide, and I mention run support because Ramsey helps a lot there in the slot he is always around the ball). Or maybe they replace Hill outside and upgrade opposite Williams.

Also note with the above that we're splitting hairs in a way when arguing about the third best corner on the field. First world probs and all that.

Trades...

S: Depending on what Staley thinks of Rapp this could go different ways. Personally I would not touch our safety room at the deadline because the depth is really nice and I think one of either Burgess or Rapp may emerge elsewhere (ILB, nickel CB, etc). But if Staley liked what he saw from Rapp last Sunday (he was solid but mostly untested) maybe he's thinking they get a pick for next year and make room for him. Or maybe Rapp is a guy Staley sees as more of a classic SS and he might think he'll never be more than a sub player in this scheme so moving him makes sense. I hope not btw. I just like our loaded safety room. But for a team to move players a surplus is required generally and we do have that.

ILB: This would be more of an addition trade because we could use some help with our ILBs. I think thus far that Kiser has been solid, which is not to say we should be happy with him but I am in fact happy with him so far because I didn't think he was going to be solid. We need someone next to him who can slice through blockers (we can forget anyone giving us a good stack 'n shed LB at this point in the season IMO) and make plays sideline to sideline. I hoped it would be Rapp to get him on the field but Rapp is spelling Fuller now. Burgess is probably not aggressive enough, though I suppose they could give him a shot. Reeder is physical but really bad reacting from the drop and can't change direction (once again drop about 10-15 lbs Troy). Either way the light in the pants ILBs and converted SS types are as numerous as slappy middle infielders so maybe Snead has his eye on someone.

I don't know about personnel moves. But the biggest change I'd like to see is tackling. If they started tackling ball carriers that would be a change.
