They seemed to be having trouble getting off blocks and were out of position numerous times, taking themselves out of the play.

Maurice Alexander couldn't tackle a running back to save his life either.
He seemed off and out of position or getting blocked.
Lamarcus Joyner was giving it a shot but he was often simply overpowered.

Alec has always had issues shedding blocks since he came out of college. I just wished that by this point he would have better hand usage to fix that issue. He really never developed much (like so many others) under the previous regime.

If he is gonna have more games like this one, then he needs to tomahawk the ball out for forced fumbles at the least.

They need a real thumper playing next to Ogletree. I thought Forrest could be that guy, but now you have Barron and Littleton, both guys are 225 lbs or less that play that spot.

Also not sure if Barwin and Quinn are quick enough to dominate the edges in the run game.

Like their coach knew Joe Barry. . . .

Our whole defense stumbled out of the blocks. I said before the game, if we can't stop the run we are not going to bode well. Sure enough. . . we were unable to stop the run.

We better start getting this together. The niners and Hyde ran wild today.

In the bits and pieces I saw, they were running into each other. Kinda funny, mostly sad.

This is what it seemed he was trying to do several times today....tackling high, went for the ball a couple of times. Never got low, didn't wrap the legs.
Really bad game for him today.

Either are run defense sucks right now or the Redskins running game is good. Hoping they'll improve in time, I remember Ogletree struggling initially as a rookie and his first year in Gregg Williams's scheme. I'll give both players the benefit of the doubt until midseason. Even though Wade Phillips is known to bring magic in defense, learning a new system takes time

I never heard an explanation from the announcers, but they said several times the Rams defensive coaches were raging on the sidelines just after the Robert Woods self destruction on the field when our defense took the field. I am hoping that our guys were confused and the issues can be fixed on assignments and that's what the screaming was about.

If not, Son of Bum misjudged the talent on this team. HE said that our defense was as talented as any he had ever coached, which included that Super Bowl winning defense in Denver. All I know is that Gregg Williams 4-3 would have done better today, but probably many more personal fouls so I guess the failure might have been similar.

I'm hoping things can be fixed.

I remember last time Washington ran all over us. We all thought our run defense was sunk. If I remember correctly we got it figured out and fixed the run issues real quick.

It pisses me off that Wade couldn't fix it on the fly, but I'm confident they can fix it.

I also expect Donald to play better now that he's getting back in play shape. He said the same on his post game.

it might be me ....but i noticed our DL was in the backfield a lot today overunning the plays... there was a play brockers flew off the snap seem so surpirsed he got there the running back just ran by him... i was almost wishing they would just stand thier ground in the run game ...draw plays and delays were killing us because we were so good in getting home but not making the tackle ...seems a weird thing to say i know that you dont want the D line in the backfield but if youre gonna blow by the O line you have to make to the tackle

A space-eating NT would help to solve most of this.

You know, because 3-4.

there was play yesterday that Brockers was in the backfield before they handed the ball off and the RB breezed by him .. a "real" NT holds that middle ground and the RB goes no where ...so what I'm saying is i agree
