I hate to be a downer, but I'm probably not going to see this movie. I still have my Warner bobbleheads and Super Bowl 34 & 36 bobbleheads, "Warner Way" street sign, etc... But he made his choice to identify with the Cardinals after he retired, instead of embracing his highest achievement with the Rams and being a former Ram great. Yeah, I don't care about the circumstances as to why he left. Deacon Jones retired as a Washington Redskin but will always be remembered as a Ram great. Deacon was always vocal about the Rams direction because he was invested and yet never won a Super Bowl with the team.

More than that, I'm tired of looking back at that Super Bowl because I want a new Lombardi THIS year.
You'll watch it and like it ya bastid!

I always "bought into" Kurt's story and legacy, and then he rejected it and all of us who loved him. I said for a reason that literally no one is left in the Rams front office that was a party to what happened to him, and yet he never shows up with Orlando Pace, D'Marco Farr, Isaac Bruce, Marshall Faulk, Roland Williams, Torry Holt on get togethers of old-time Rams, unless the NFL Network is paying him to do it. All these people who did him wrong are gone, but then so is Dick Vermeil, who never did him wrong. When he shows up as just an ex-Rams great because he wants to be apart of the Rams history and legacy, which he was a huge part of, then I'll feel differently.
Well, he's shown up for the movie!

I've been a Rams fan for the last thirty-two years and this story really hits home for me. Not because the Rams won the Super Bowl in 99' but because since the age of seven I was blessed with a father that spent his hard earned money to take me to every home game until they left for St. Louis. I grew up a Rams fan, and stayed a Rams fan even though they moved across the country.
I vividly remember the 99' season like it was yesterday, without YouTube, NFL Sunday Ticket, or a reliable internet connection it was almost impossible to catch a glimpse of the miracle season that was unfolding in-front of us. My only outlet was when they would play local teams or the 49ers, and occasionally they would showcase them on ESPN. Still, no matter what everyday I would scour whatever I could to get my fill.
No Super Bowl will be as special as the 99' season was to me and my father, years of the Rams being a bad to a sheer awful team, ran into the ground by an inexperienced Front office and a dreadful owner. It seemed like the stars finally aligned for our Rams. The 99' Super Bowl was one of a kind. John Madden commentating, the first game to be broadcast in 480p (that used to be HD) and my dad going out and buying a big screen TV just for that game. I can't imagine anything else that will compare to that moment in time for my father and I.
After the game was said and done and the Rams were crowned Super Bowl Champions, When Kurt and Dick Vermeil raised the Lombardi Trophy I had to excuse myself from the room. I remember going into the bathroom and raising my fist into the air and sobbing with happiness. Mind you I was 18 years young at the time and crying in front of my high school sweetheart was not an option. Still she knew, when I came back into the room, she just looked at me and gave me one of the biggest hugs I've ever received from another human. It was truly a day that will live-on in my heart until my days on this earth come to an end.

A very special thank you to my father!

Cheers Rams Fans,
-Jacob

Very similar feelings and history there with me as well. Won't rehash but only a few minor detail changes such as I had just turned 21 and I got to watch the home games that season but I'm right there with you. This movie is going to make me feel like a "kid" again and probably reduce me to stupid crying just from getting to experience some of these moments again. Nothing will top 99 for me either and the experiences I had at the dome.

I think some of you guys seem to forget that Warner didn't leave the Rams
The Rams gave up on Warner and cut him.

If wants to identify with the the team he retired from, I have zero problem with it.
Doesn't mean he doesn't have a deep love for the Rams
I just think with Vermeil gone, Martz didn't exactly leave him with pleasant memories
playing for the Rams.
He is still my favorite Ram QB ever, Unless Stafford changes that.

Deacon Jones was traded to the Chargers. So in a sense, they gave up on him for other players they liked better. Still, Deacon is known as a forever Ram, even after the team moved to St Louis. Not that Georgia wanted anything to do with former LA Rams players at the time....

Kurt had a stretch there where he was a Cards homey. Feels a bit different now. I think he knows what's coming in the next few years. Rams have a nice run coming IMO.

The ending of the trailer should of been Vermial(Quaid) doing the "We will rally around Kurt Warner, and we will play good football". Would of been perfect but what do I know.

You guys are making too much of the Cardinal thing. Why wouldn't he have an affinity for them? They gave him another chance as a starting QB and the supporting cast for him to be great again. Without the Arizona chapter of his career, he's not in the Hall of Fame. Just a journeyman QB who shined so brightly for a few seasons and then faded into obscurity. Rich Gannon type.

The Rams have had plenty of strained relationships with their former players. They have not been good at maintaining ties with their alumni. 40 years, it took them to retire Deacon's number, and then they did it in the city where he never played.

The Cardinals put Warner up in their ring of honour, the Rams would not, even in St. Louis. Could have reached out to him and made amends for how they left things, but they never did. If you don't nurture a relationship, it's going to turn sour.

I'll probably watch it, but those small Sears wishbook numbers will annoy me on all the football action scenes. I don't fault Warner for any animosity. We know he was raked over the coals after all he did for us. Obviously because of poor play (not being healthy) but the boos and intense criticism were hurtful I'm sure. The town betrayed him. I even had my doubts during the tragedy of 2002. I already don't like Vermeil in this trailer and the over the top intense dialogue. A lot of these documentary-type movies are trumped up with producers thinking the actual scenarios may lack excitement. I'd rather see truth than a falsely dialed up intensity of the script.

I too have a story that runs down this line.

I turn 50 on Monday and was born in Anaheim. Raised to be an LA fan of every sport.....I didn't actually choose my team like so many of us. My Father also took me to games.

In 98 I had 2 brain surgeries and was on disability for the entire 99 season. I drove to Bunz n Co. here in Sac to watch the games because the owner was a Rams fan and we had the upstairs to ourselves.

I am a step father to 2 and met my wife in a similar fashion to Warner, (minus that dancing crap....come on!). His story landed for me.

I had a friend at work who I shared Rams talk with who died right before the 6th game that year. I remember thinking something was happening to my Rams that I had not ever seen before.

I was at Bunz n Co. for the Super bowl and after the win I was kissed by another grown man who wasn't my father for the 1st time........thankfully it was on the cheek and he was very drunk... :)

It was one of the greatest times of my life and I smile every time I think about it.

Love ya Loyal and it's your right to dislike Kurt.
I'm not sure if Deacon established himself
with the Chargers, the way Kurt did with the Cardinals.

There was no loyalty from the Rams whatsoever.
You broke your hand ? Tough shit we're cutting you
and signing Chris Chandler to back up Bulger.
They could have kept him on IR, but they didn't. they cut him.

He Basically had to start over after the Rams
Kurt went From Rams super star to a backup with the Giants before
the Cards took a chance on him . And everybody knows what happened
there. The Cards made him feel wanted.

Again I know were you stand Loyal and though I disagree
I respect your opinion.

I don't see me changing your stance and I don't see you changing mine.
So if it's good with you I propose we agree to disagree. :beer2: :fistbump1:

Besides shouldn't we be talking about the demise of the Bucs.
and Tom Fraidy. lol
