I don't think they want to admit Gurley is damaged goods. Not sure why. Maybe it is a bad look to have him so much to take so much of the salary cap and not be a major contributor.
Honestly I think it’s strategy to keep him good for the second half of the season and the playoffs. However it is apparent we overlooked the Bucs to prepare for our Thursday night game.

Gurley has become an overpaid pass blocker, because he doesn’t get any carries.
He‘s playing snaps.

That‘s the weird part for me.

When he had a crease, he looks like himself.

This might explain the body language comments. He might be dejected or PO’d. Pure speculation though

I'm with you, when he's had room he has been good. The 2 tds he scored, no way he does that if "he's damaged good"

I think McVay is really pissed off after this one. He keeps his cool but, you tell he is mad as hell. Mr. positivity going to go to work this short week. He has a lot of work to do.

I just don’t get it. He looks good when he runs and he’s pass blocking. When he pick up those blitz they are more violent then any running he’s doing. So if he can be used for pass blocking then he need to be featured more in the offense I do think today was a good start because they actually got him involved in the passing game.

So it's "a blessing" that there is a short week to correct this wreck?

Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!

This is the same shit we heard from Martz. He even said it the same way.

He's full of shit here. And he sounds overwhelmed.

Cliche cliche cliche cliche cliche and so on from him.

And he says to give credit to the Bucs pass rush........of course they had a field day all you did was PASS.

I'm losing faith here.

Same mistakes over and over.

Same answers to the same questions.

He's lost his way.

He definitely needs to be more involved in the run and pass. They can also throw Brown out there. We have to establish the run to protect Goff. We have a big test coming this Thursday, let's see how this team responds

Bucs run D is one of the leagues best this early in the season. Our OL is seriously bad. Shaq Barrett and Nassib up the middle can't be blocked by Gurley. Why not bring in an extra OL-men? Edwards would fit better than a TE as we block the 6-7 man rush. Both OT's are our best OL and they are having to face some of the leagues biggest and fastest in Cam Jordan then Garrett and his partner then today with Barrett & Nassib? You could tell Allen was over matched and Noteboom needs more weightroom and plays too finesse as we see Whitworth have to hold like Havenstein to help out their OL buddies like Blythe. I see us needing a vet as many teams are losing OL. Falcons lost Jamon Brown who has been a good run blocker. We need a couple stout run blockers and our D line is not using Gaines as he's only been active one game. We can't cover the lack of having Suh who seemed unmotivated.

Gurley used to break tackles that trip him up now. has he lost a step? This team must run to have our play action and 11 runs verses 68 passes is Martz football and our O-line is outmatched especially up the middle as speed rushers are finally giving our 2 best OL in our OT's fits. Havenstein needs a solid run guard next to him. Why not go max protect and bring in Edwards to act and line up as a tight end th help that side? Play calling is crap as we had 7 drives today yet should have done better than what we did as the run game is non existent. McVay needs a long play success to help him have time to call his next play. The 6-1 defense has stopped our Jet sweeps and I see lots of players needing more time to rest after a good catch and short run.

I noticed Aaron Donald had more time on sidelines today than any other game so far this season. Yes he is triple teamed and undersized and is our best player times 100 and deserves all the rest he thinks he needs. When he is out Smart,Fox and SJD are not getting the run stopped/ Seemed like the rotating of sides to rush from caught Clay Matthews and Dante fowler out of position and why don't we blitz them at all? Coach Phillips just needs to get that loop blitz they both do well and loop from outside into the A gaps as was used against us all day. If we had hit their qb more often and I don't care if we drew a roughing call if the hit was good enough to rattle the old FSU QB who we made look like an all pro.

We missed bigtime Rapp's play at LB and safety on Brate their TE. I'm worried the ankle may be very serious and we were really benifiting from Rapps play even though he was still learning as a rookie. We will need more than Reeder and Hager to make up for Rapps absence. I'll be praying for him to escape the IR. Our D got a little too cocky in my opinion. Donald has been so dominant until today and I'm sure Suh gave up a few hints on how to play us. Yes we miss Saffold and we might have been too quick in xtending everyone. The Bears defense is as tough and I say tougher on the D line and linebackers as I think the Eagles D will be in the playoffs. We have hawks and whiners and whiners have a skilled TE I'm not sure we can cover. We don't play man very well and Robey Coleman had a horrible day in the ground he was giving up. Phillips will need a new plan and be more urgent and also not so predictable these next division games.

I'm all for having a long talk with Gurley and see what he wants to do. Our rookie RB should have had a package for himself by now. He can't be that slow to pick up things or maybe everything is stalled by this OL. That's why I say bring in Edwards for a max protect and blocking OL. We can change our formation. I don't blame Goff after taking all the hits he's getting. yes he missed two major Layups for TD's today nd he knows he makes those throws all day in practice but he needs to make them when he just got paid to make the layups. I love the guy and how he takes a hit. I am seing him showing some upset with things. adjustments? We should know how to adjust to the 6-1 as we've shown we can't break it. Stop the 5 yard runs from lesser RB's we need more help than Reeder at LB as Hager isn't working and we needed Dakota to be our thumper. Lots to address before Thursday once we see how long Rapp is out and I heard maybe a collarbone for #22. I sure hope not. League should fine the hit on #22 on his score pick 6. thought Cooper Kupp had a PI on him. Not sure what PI is anymore. We need a max protect group to help us in the future. we have options on our 53. Let's not waste our time we have with a player like AD and lets bring it against Russell Wilson and his fumbling Carson and penny rb's and Lockett at wr.

I posted this in the vent thread but it really is more apropos here. One thing I am completely sick of is the usual "this one was on me" narrative. Enough already with this shtick. I want answers and accountability. I want changes and intelligent assessments and responses for the problems we have seen for the last half of 2018 and all of 2019.
I am tired of the big toe in the sand routine along with the trite and self-serving and insipid "aw shucks ya'll I just gots to do a better job, ya'll....."
This type of response to the problems ain't gonna cut it anymore.

I am weary of the incessant "Mea Culpas" which oozes from McVay like sweat in a humid Arkansas summer.

ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Well, at least he didn't spout off the 'ol Martzian canard of, "Shoot, we'll fix that."
And of that we can all be grateful.

Prepare to play the 6-1 defense from the start of every game. Have a plan for it and have a max protect unit that utilizes OT Edwards as a tight end. Everett can't block a DE. let's use what we have and Gurley should not be an A gap blitz blocker every play because Allen and Noteboom can't get their job done.

5 carries today for 16 yards.

13 came on one run.

He has not been good. He's been terrible.

He had a good game versus the Panthers to open the season but hasn't been even able to get to 4 per carry since then. And the last several games he has been playing poorly.

This is a fact. He's no longer what he was and they will have to cut bait sometime this season or right after this season.

He's not going to get better, he's going to get worse. Something is clearly wrong and that's just a fact.
