I'm about to slither off to bed but I was just thinking about how the loss of Jake was almost as big as the loss of Sam. Without the Long injury, Joseph would only be our backup. I'm pretty sure that improvement would have meant around 4 more wins. We could have had a much better O with Jake at LT.

Actually Robinson is outplaying him right now. Joseph is doing OK overall IMO. But Wells is killing us.

Night bro. I'll tuck you in if you need me to.

Robinson and Barksdale at Tackle while Long and Saffold anchor the guard positions. Is it possible for Jake to move inside? might be a nice combo.

Assuming Long comes back, he should be at guard in my opinion. I did not like his play at LT.

I believe he's saying that Long at LT would put Robinson and Saffold at guard. But I wasn't highly impressed with Jake this year anyway.
That said, I'd rather have the former, than the latter (with Joseph at guard).

Barksdale, Saffold and Robinson can stay as starters. We need upgrades at guard and center over Joseph and Wells. Take Long and Well's salaries and get some free agents to fill the spots. It is time to be the second or third youngest team.....we need second contract guys who can help us win in 2015.

Jake was kind of ehhh this year. Inconsistent. But having GR at OG gave our OL a lot more flexibility in the blocking schemes we could call. I should have time to demonstrate that in the next couple weeks. I think our running game is being hampered right now because we're essentially forced to call a limited number of schemes up-front due Davin Joseph's issues.

Disagree. No more free agents. Lets build through the draft.

Only FA I'd make an exception for is C Stefen Wisniewski.

Rookies generally take some time to develop and the Rams have shown. Reluctance to start guys on the offense early in their careers. My hope is they make good FA signings, and get OL who can play immediately and do not have injury issues. It's possible Jones may fit the bill and the Rams know more than we know about him.

I'd rather have had JL in their. Maybe it's my old eyes, but it seemed every time their was a major screw-up Joseph was in their!

I still honestly take the pick of Saffold as an admission that J-Long was done, if not a mistake to sign in the first place.

The season was a loss when Bradford went down so I'm not too worried about it. It allowed Robinson to concentrate on LT and get lots of reps to learn quicker.

Big Jake costs too much to bring back, and there's no guarantee his injuries issues are over.

Exactly my point. Sounds like a smallish thing but I think it was huge. We were so close in so many games that that was the killing blow IMO. With Saffold at RG we make so many more of those short yardage plays we failed on or didn't even try. As V3 said, long term it might be good for us but short term and here I disagree with him, it really was what put the final nail in the coffin for this year. Jake's play was head and shoulders above that of Joseph's.

As for bringing him back, not at what we're paying him and not unless we have no other options. Getting Joseph off the field is of paramount importance though so whatever that takes. Obviously, I'd still OK with him as a backup as he's cheap and apparently, despite his play, better than everything else we've got.

Wells is obviously another big problem but of somewhat lesser importance IMO but to those who want to replace him, yes, yes and yes again. As I and many others have said before, the scary part is that the Powers That Be think Wells and Joseph are our best option. I don't care how versatile Jones or any of our other backups are if they can't beat out those two.

I think we need to look at picking up some inexpensive options in FA to replace some of our back up O-line guys (not starters which should be, as @jrry32 said, picked up in the draft). That and trying to find someone who can at least compete with McLeod for a starting job at FS. That sounds doable and not that expensive from where I'm sitting (on my plush office chair in front of my computer). Putting in my new power supply using my daughter's hands and eyes and my brain is a little more dicey. OK, a lot more dicey. :ROFLMAO: I might be down for a couple of days until my computer gets back up. My main problem is when to bite the bullet. Next week sounds good. Maybe. Before my brain surgery it's a 20 minute job.

Jake never fully recovered and you could tell watching him out there. Got beat like a drum. He is done unfortunately... I love the dude but time for us to move on to young talent. Robinson and Barksdale are good bookends. Time to get our Center and RG in order and well have a decent O-Line.

I hate my last image is of Long is him not really moving and letting his guy somewhat hit Sam... and Sam goes down.

Jake wasn't good this season and he got our qb hit and out for the season. Never liked the pick up to begin with so I'd be happy if he was replaced, honestly.

Yup. It's the way to go with the current CBA because you can draft two per year that will cost less than one good fee agent and lets face it OL is a position where very often guys break down fast. Some guys have long careers on the OL but a lot more play well then start getting slower and more injury prone in a big hurry from the intense wear and tear.

I wouldn't bring Long back because of his injuries. He's about finished and spending millions to put your QB at risk is a bad game plan.

You really having brain surgery? Is that elective surgery to help with the other stuff that's going on, or is it necessary?

Yeah Alan I just caught that what's up with the surgery?

This came to mind, and I know some of you guys are gonna laugh at me but this is a well written and structured song and he knocks it out of the park with this performance. It brings a smile to my face to watch it again.
