Question; Why did the Rams not play 9/19/99? Did we have a bye in Week 2??????

I didn't see this answered. Yeah, they had a bye week 2. That was when the byes were scattered all season long. I don't know if it was an official policy, but the worse you did, the crappier the bye week they gave you.

20/20 hindsight, that early bye might have been key to getting the O more used to Warner.

A couple of the analogies work, but the depth on Oline is too thin right now. I do think Snead has been freaky good with UDFA's the last few years.

I totally agree.

They'd get some love for beating WA... not much love for beating SF... but if they beat DAL? Yeah, the media will be falling all over themselves with accolades about how the Rams are the break out team of 2017.

I'm planning on going to the DAL game... just waiting to see what happens Sunday and Thursday.

Spent considerable amounts of money the past two times they were in DAL to see them... only be be embarrassed. It's not cheap going to games at The DeathStar.

Hoping these next two games are enough to make me dip back into my wallet.

My wife and I already have tickets. Hopefully I'll see you there!

I think that was pre Texans and the 1st season for the new Brown's. So there were only 31 teams. So that did cause for two byes I believe. I think the Rams were the only team off that week.

I don't know man... Going into that season I wasn't exactly excited about Gruttadauria or Nutten. Both were unproven and plenty of fans felt like one or both wouldn't hold up. So in a way you have some similarities there too, as we're concerned (well most of us) with Brown and Havenstein. Both of whom do have talent, mind you.

I think saying our OL is too thin might prove wrong if those two guys keep improving week to week. They were pretty solid game 1 in pass pro.

Oh and btw this reminds me... To score on UDFAs you also need to have a staff who earnestly coaches them up and gives them opportunities to compete. This is something Vermiel had done in Philly too, and then again in STL. McVay has already shown that he and this staff are willing to look at all the guys in camp, which I like very much, because hitting on one or two UDFAs a year is a great way to supplement your draft and general roster turnover.

And speaking of Vermiel, McVay has a lot of similarities with him. He doesn't tear up, of course, but he's a genuine leader who unifies people in much the same cloth as DV was, from the staff to the players to every person in the organization. He also lives/breathes his job, workaholic type who logs enormous hours. Dude is like a young Vermiel, but with a little better grasp of scheme.

If the Rams win 9+ games and don't make the play-offs, I'm happy

Didn't that '99 team win 6 straight? I'll take that!

We actually won 7 straight. We opened up with 6 straight before we dropped two in a row to Tennessee and Detroit. Then we ran off 7 straight before we gave up the last game by resting our key starters for the playoffs.

That Detroit game... I don't think I've ever been that angry before or since at a Rams loss, the way it ended with them converting that 4th and forever...

Ok so here we are halfway through the sched. Rams have grown like crazy game to game into a very strong TEAM the likes of which I have not seen in horns since those glory days.

What say you now? Anyone feel differently?

Nostril-damn-us?
Like I said in another thread... some questions have been answered... some remain.

Schedule is tougher, for sure.

HOU is next up... a few weeks ago, thinking this one would be tough. Then Watt goes down... then Watson... now, this is one the Rams ought to win.

Take care of business... go to 7-2 and built yet more momentum. They'll need it.

I'm looking forward to the remaining schedule. ... to see were we are... i believe we easily could have been 6 -1.. I predicted 11-5 right from the beginning. ...but there is a chance .....if we stay healthy and keep improving....we run the table.....14-2....;)

Go Rams....... ;)

Something tells me we may end up 13-3 just like that ‘99 team. And then...

Biggest concern for me right now tbh is injuries. They're the element that never gets considered too much in hindsight but they inevitably change the course of every NFL season. The '99 team had a ridiculous run of good health, hopefully this season continues the same way.

Outside of the injuries though, this team has grown like crazy game to game. So yeah I think they're capable of 13 wins, even if right now I'm waiting for the three playoff type matchups on our sched to be sure this is that level of team. Nice thing about these guys is I don't think they have a ceiling. They look like they can play with anyone and if they keep improving yeah, this might be lightning striking twice.

In the OP I was moreso asking the question than anything else since there were some similarities and it was fun to think about. Now, as this team just keeps getting better and better it's starting to look possible. Exciting stuff man, what a season thus far!
