I don't think he wants to play football, imho. He gets much more attention being victim.

Don’t see it. Tyrod is expected to start and then eventually become the backup to last years qb draft pick Herbert, so is Kap gonna be #3? Inactive on game day? Having someone famous as #3 seems like something nobody wants.
This seems like a story for Hollywood, in the movies Kap would get on a team and win the big game, but the reality is it’s been 4 years with no football and nobody knows what he’s got.

I doubt he got better.

I agree 100% , but also, IMO there'd be quite a bit of pressure on him to perform at a high level(if he plays) because of all the "he's a good QB who's been blackballed" stuff.

If he comes out and plays terribly then the narrative probably changes to "Meh, no harm no foul that he wasn't on a roster. He sucks."

.

i wonder how many players advocating for his return will be happy about it if he joins their team and then they have to answer a hundred questions a day about what it feels like to have that saint on their team?

I don't know where's he at in terms of his game, but I'd venture he's at least at the point he could be a solid backup for a few teams.

To be honest, I wouldn't be opposed to having him compete for Goff's backup spot given our inexperience in that role currently. Plus seeing a mobile QB in our offense with smart offensive players like we get might make for some exciting preseason plays, and if our starters aren't playing then might as well do something more exciting.

Meh.
For a "mobile" qb, he took way too many sacks.

Might be the best that could happen. Can't imagine he's anywhere near ready to play after four inactive seasons, and his last active season was nothing to brag about.

Would take the steam out of the narrative.

Kap could have been a good to decent backup. Now he will be 33 this November and hasn't played in years. I doubt he is working out and practicing his questionable throwing accuracy. He should have been given a chance a few years ago. His ship has probably sailed but, I would like to see what he can or can't do.
