Here are the facts with Bill Vinobitch's crew. After having a heart issue, Vinobitch retired from reffing on the field after the 2006 season. He returned for the 2012 season. Since Vinobitch returned, we are 0-8 with him as our ref. That's quite shocking. It's hard to believe that the law of averages wouldn't allow us a single win in 8 games.

Here's an even more galling fact, we are 12-1 this year with other crews and 0-2 with Vinobitch's crew. So you can't just chalk up 0-8 to the Rams being a mediocre team since 2012.

Does anyone remember the Carolina Panthers game where Sam tore his ACL? There were a lot of questionable calls in that game, and then, we had multiple players ejected from a fight Steve Smith started (Steve Smith, of course, wasn't ejected). Vinobitch's crew reffed that game. Vinobitch's crew is also the ref crew that ejected Aaron Donald from the 49ers game.

Here's one last "interesting" fact. I went back through Vinobitch's entire tenure as the head referee of his own crew. There is not one single game he reffed where the Rams' opponent had more penalty yardage than the Rams. That's going back to the start of the 2004 season. We've had a total of ONE game where the Rams and their opponent had the same number of penalty yardage. In every other game, the Rams were assessed MORE penalty yardage than their opponent. That covers 12 games.

I'm not sure how those numbers aren't shocking to people. It tells me that we're not getting a fair shake from his crew. It tells me that he's a biased official. I don't know why he's biased, but the numbers don't lie. It makes zero sense that those numbers would be pure random chance. I know that I've been beating this drum for awhile, but I don't forget when somebody screws the Rams. Vinobitch has made it a habit of screwing the Rams. I don't believe for a second that it's just coincidental. IMO, Kroenke needs to tell the NFL League Office that Vinobitch needs to be taken off of our games.

Very interesting.

Okay. Minutes later I am still a tad taken back by our record with Vinovitch’s crew. I hadn’t seen that before.

I am kind of a math nerd... though I’m not sure I show that side here much, I do a lot of work with numbers for a living.

Our record with his crew... I’d have to look for some way to explain it... because on the surface that’s one hell of a statistical head scratcher.

Since 2012 the Rams are 54-56-1.

Over 8 games you would sure think our .490 average would be represented in there somewhere, right?
Our average across all the games refereed by someone other than Vinovich puts us at .529.

...but, when you consider that Jeff Fisher was the Coach for 6 of these 8 games, it feels a little less surprising that they were losses. Our wins under McVay skew this picture a little too but still... it's hard to accept.

I was there in 1983 when we played Earl Campbell & coach Bum Phillips as Vince Ferragamo & Dickerson found some very late offense in the last game of the season and it would have been the Saints 1st playoff game ever till our barefoot Mike Lansford kicked a last second 43 yard field goal and RAMS went back to playoffs and the full dome was drunk and shocked we squeezed it out on them again.

Fixed it for ya.

Agree with others it is interesting that we are 0-8 with Vinobitch reffing our games.

Great work jrry32......
I think this issue needs some in depth investigative reporting....the guy obviously has some issue with the Rams....who knows, he could be a long lost cousin of El Grindo, John Shaw...

No no no no! It's all the way up to 66.7%, not a measly 66.6%.
Does any other ref have an 0 for with that many games against any other team. I mean it kind of stands out to me. What was the record? 0 - 8 the rams have played while he refed. Is this common? If this is true it seems like it should be at least looked at.

I think the 66.6 was a play on the mark of the devil.

Probably Browns fans could say this about a few ref squads. Put the Jets and Bill in there too. Maybe a couple of other teams.

We were 7& 9 every year. Not 2 & 14. But point taken. My meaning though is, what is his record during the same time with other teams. Do we have an 0fer with any other ref. That kind of thing. I guess maybe we only had him when we played way better teams. Dont think so though.

Hard to say without going and taking a look.

And then we would have to look at other ref crews.

Les I'm glad the real facts have been brought forward in 0-8 as his crew seems to NOT CALL the obvious as I studied our saints game closely.
I so wish this info could be exposed and those games would have had different outcomes. The refs are even attacking today's refs for ruining the current game. New article out today by past ref chairman.

I just want Vinovich sat when we are playing. He has a cross to bear and you just need to watch one of his crews games with us to see it STINKS. It's not beating a dead horse. Yes we did poorly in two games on Sunday night. Bad refs just made it worse in Eagle game as in horrible no calls and challenges in saints game. I thank Jerry for his research and facts found. 0-8 is not to be just overlooked. I smell smoke. GO RAMS Hope our O-Line gets playoff ready by regrouping and playing smashmouth with the whiners young but talented D-Line. Will be just what we need to prepare for playoffs. O-Line MUST be dominant for our offense to roll.

I dont think thats a fair dismissal here.
Every fanbase has fans that play the victim.
Here we are talking about a guy who has made consistently questionsble or just plain terrible calls against us and despite being a .500 team, in 8 games we haven't caught a break but we have caught a lot of bad calls on the way to 0-8 with him being the one deciding when to call holding or not.

What makes anyone so sure this isnt a problem?
Its not a woe is me thing. This is ROD, not any other teams fans. Not a bunch of millennials in a safe space. Something smells rotten in Denmark and holding our nose and pretending we can't smell it doesn't work.

This thread didnt start after 4 straight losses to Vinovich.
Not after 5 straight or 6 even but here we are at a half-seasons worth of losses to the same guy... despite being a 50/50 team. (or slightly better)

If you were P.I. whose job it was to find instances of suspicious officiating and investigate it, this would get your attention, wouldn't it?

It's hard to believe it's just random chance. For example, the NFL pulled a replacement ref from reffing the Saints after they found out he's a Saints fan:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/8386973/nfl-pulls-replacement-ref-new-orleans-saints-game

They realized that bias was an issue. I have a strong feeling that Vinobitch is biased against certain teams. We're also not the only team's fanbase that hates him:
https://www.milehighreport.com/2014/12/26/7447523/peyton-manning-bill-vinovich-broncos-referee
https://in-thinair.com/2017/10/27/bias-in-nfl-referees/

Broncos fans hate him too. They're 1-6 with him as their referee since 2012. That's hard to believe considering they have been quite successful since 2012. And as that article points out, Peyton Manning ended his career never having won a game with him as head referee.

Nah, brother, this is just slapping a sick horse on the ass.

I could show y'all what beating a dead horse looks like... I mean my official title is "Mackeyser, Poster of Epic Posts, Master Pedant, Pattern Picker-upperer and Royal Beater of Expired Horses"

Honestly, it does make my business cards cost a little extra, but what's a guy to do?

The British would be slightly different only in that it would read "Pattern Picker-Upperist" I have to admit that sounds slightly more classy.
