I wish we could see the breakdown of out wide vs in the slot and the total rankings here. It seems like McVay has been trying to find a TE to regularly put out wide since Everett. I didn't think LaPorta did much out wide but I think I was wrong about that.

Both guys we've met with have high inline targets. It does seem like we're looking for Higs replacement in this draft. Would be curious to see where Schoonmaker and Payne landed in out wide and slot targets list too.

Sadly, I suspect that many of us looking for a sexy move-TE weapon will be disappointed. But a scenario where we come off the board with a high quality edge, CB, and mostly inline TE in the 1st three picks wouldn't make me cry at all.

If we are taking a TE with 36 (which I'm not really in favor of), I feel like it has to be Washington. To me, he is the only one that can guarantee at least one aspect of their game as elite, blocking. And he has a lot of potential to be a match up nightmare receiving. This is also assuming the Kincaid is long gone, because he would assure us of elite receiving. Mayer is a good balance of the 2, but not elite in either category IMO.

Well who knows where he's at on the Rams' board. They may have Kraft much higher than the mocks and lists in the media. If they take him that means fans will freak out but I'll be busy pounding celebratory shots. Even at 36 though yes I do think we will move down first.

Same goes for LaPorta. Slightly different dudes, where LaPorta is more along the passcatchy spectrum, but the knocks on his blocking are overplayed IMO. He actually has some footage of being effective there.

Shit I’d be the same way. Idc, a McVay offense with 2 TE’s that can block and catch is something they’ve tried and failed.

If we get a quality one in Kraft which he looks every bit the part I’ll be happy as hell and take a shot with you!

I started watching some of Kraft's highlights, games etc so I could ask why you guys are so high on this kid. And boy did I like what I saw.
I dont like Laporta, I see him as a Hopkins-lite, but Kraft and a double down with Spann-Ford later would really move the needle for me

I’d have no argument with the Rams using pick 36 on a TE, unless the guy is a very raw player like Everett was when he was drafted. Round 2 is too good of a spot to take a developmental player.

I'm a fan of Kraft but, admittedly, I'd be very disappointed with him at #36. I think he's a 3rd round guy and I'd be very happy with him there. One of the reasons I'd be upset about him at #36 is, I don't think I could qualify him as a can't miss prospect currently. He hasn't really been tested against a lot of top talent, but he did do his job against what he was up against. Who knows, he could be the best TE in the draft, but I don't think that is proven yet. We absolutely need as much of a can't miss player at 36 that we can muster.

Only problem is what makes a guy raw? Take Everett for instance, the guy did play 3 seasons of college ball. 1 year of D1, then last 2 at D1AA, played in 31 games over all
I dont think the issue with him was being raw as much as what plan the had for him when he was drafted. He is what he is, a fairly productive #2TE who isnt going to line up with a hand in the dirt.
Heck, he caught 16 passes as a rook, which is almost double of the career catch total for Hopkins and Long in 5 seasons between them, and Hopkins was supposedly pro-ready as a receiver

with #36, protecting Stafford is mandatory.

Agreed. Unless there’s a stud Edge that fell they have to address their OL and there will be a number of very good/excellent choices at R2.36. I’d be ok with a little trade down to gain another pick but only if they have multiple top OL prospects still on the board (eg no Creed Humphries situation again).

So IMO drafting an RB in the 1st is a no go hell 2nd round too on them. How about TE? How many 1st round TE's are there drafted and how many of them amount to much of anything? Second round too. Just curious what the numbers look like if anybody knows.
